NMAA 2005 3A State Finals: Robertson Cardinals vs Lovington Wildcats

I was there that day. I remember the star running back from Lovington came in from the sideline on 4th down at the end of the game to bring in the play hitting himself on the chest as if to say “I’m gonna punch this into the end zone”. Well it worked because the Robertson players keyed on him except that the back who got the pitch tripped. The rest is history. From where I was sitting it looked like he had made it into the end zone but then I saw the ref signal no score. Wow! A nail biter.
