In the past few decades, we have been seeking out the perfect representation of our childhood hero, Optimus Prime.
We’ve been trying really hard.
In Sep 2022, Magic Square released MS-02, Light of Peace, an upscaled version of their legends scale Optimus, Light of Victory, and spoiler, THIS is that ultimate G1 Prime.

This figure is a milestone in Transformers toy history, it's incredible!
10/10! Everything I’ve said about MS-B46 has been amplified by x10 for this figure! Only complaints is paint applications. I wish it had more of a matte finish on the blue with the chrome parts being grey, since the chrome parts don’t look like they fit along with the plastic, but otherwise, IT’S PERFECT!
Also seeing how far you’ve came since I’ve first discovered you is quite unbelievable, amazing job and I can’t wait to see more from you and your reviews!
Amazed they didn't just upscale their legends figure but improve it! He got a neck and other things!

I have to commend MS for such their scheduling. They're literally releasing new products every month, and the quality is always there. Cannot wait to get this in the next few weeks!

I've noticed MS nails some figures and drops the ball on others, their Cyclonus is an example of this in my opinion they could've easily filled in those gaps at his arms while in his alt mode but didn't. To me it's just unsightly. But this one is a must for me as an upgrade from a TE Prime. I'd absolutely die for an upscale of Devestator though.
This figure has me excited to see what MS could upscale into MP size. It has me going back through some of your other videos to see how the little figures work.

The BEST Prime in my opinion! Already got him pre-ordered! His articulation alone blows the others off the map and I always like the bulkiness of the primes!
So they did the same articulation as Mp44 , but way cleaner. Great job! I'm in on this! Ok Magic Square no more primes get started on other Mp Bots.
I love how 3p companies give the bare essentials in accessories, thereby minimizing prize, but really go all out on the bot in terms of toon accuracy and articulation.
Great review video. I just received mine, and it is MAGNIFICENT! Great articulation, perfect sculpt, and just impressive engineering. If you're unsure, absolutely get this Optimus!
Great video! I preordered him. THIS is what I wanted once I got my MS-B46. Just a bigger one. But MS went beyond that here and it shows.
And it's a better version of B46 with all the improvement.

@@barbahuub It’s definitely a figure I want to get, but I think it’s so good that I might wait and see if MS will release a metallic version of Light of Peace. That way Optimus will have a better sheen to him.
Magic Square should work for TakaraTomy and help TakaraTomy get to work on a Masterpiece G1 Optimus Prime version 4.0 mold! That would be awesome!
People... we got em. My *ONLY* problem is the foe forming grill and cab windows, but it's a cartoon style prime, so it gets a pass
The only issue I have is their choice to make his headlight to big circles... this was not how they were in the cartoons or comics, so it looks wrong on him. Beyond that, an amazing looking figure and such smooth transformation. The articulation is also better than any I have seen before.. wow.. just wow. Other than that one gripe (and depending on weapon storage or not), he really is just too good. I mean, no clue if there is any die cast in there for weight, though I suspect not so might feel a little light, or have plastic develop stress marks (though, with that easy of a transformation, I doubt it). Would be extra nice if they gave an option to order a trailer to go with it, otherwise if I buy him, it will only be for robot since those headlight would just disturb me too much without a trailer to help distract me lol.
While you’re right about the circles, the squares surrounding the circles do match the headlights Optimus’s truck mode had in the G1 cartoon/86 movie. So I’d call that a plus. I think the circles are just there to give the headlights a more pronounced look.
Despite that, the headlights are more cartoon accurate than the MP-44, so I’d call that a plus.
@@jaydonmagan4694 I actually don't have MP-44, nor seen him in Truck Mode, though now I am going to have to go do so lol.
Edit: Just went and looked... I think I know why they used the round Headlamps (Still don't like the way they look, but if I am right, will make sense). The G1 Toy... due to that being where the hands plugged in, had an open circle instead of actual headlamps... or at least that is my thought.
Also, I looked, and you were right.. I did not like MP-44's either...
I love my TE-01 but I really also love articulation which the TE-01 doesn't have much of, because I like to take pics. This guy hits all my needs 🔥🔥🔥

You know, this is such a great MP Optimus, that I just might wait for the metallic version. Given how striking MS’s other metallic Optimus looks with its sheen, I think a metallic version of Light of Peace will make the figure look even better.
I just hope the price won’t increase too much on the metallic version of the figure. The regular version is around $125 on ShowZ, so I at least hope the price difference won’t be too great.

It's impressive, but ball-jointed ankles really have no place on a figure of this size and price. They always loosen over time, so even if they're not floppy from the start, they will be eventually. It's an unfortunate decision.
And yet almost every MP figure this size that I've seen suffers from instability or loose limbs over time - look at MP-44! This plastic and the tolerances involved will mitigate against that.

I'm curious, how does the materials feel on this figure? I know it uses ABS and Nylon plastic, but I've never handled nylon before.
Also, since this is a preview, does that mean you have more to talk about in the review?
Ah.. should change the title, just copied and pasted the 1st video's title, being lazy.
I am not able to tell which parts are ABS or nylon. The white and blue look fine, the red parts have this soft look, not as translucent as their legends scale figures' nylon, but doesn't look as solid as their v1, close to GT-03, if you had one.
@@OptimusLegends Do you have MMC Optus Pexus? It would be amazing to see an articulation comparison between these two figures. Just articulation and nothing else since these two figures look nothing alike.
I was confused the msb-46 when he didn’t have the double jointed shoulder, because of the sculpt. I’m glad it had a purpose in the morning scale. Definitely will have to grab this is one of my last mp scale figures
Wow great video! Your production value is so high. The MS really went in on screen accurate truck mode. Most (all?) other Primes still try to go toy/realism for the truck. Interesting place in the collection even if just for that.

And agreed, MS went all in for the toon look, their v1 has more design cues of the real world truck but they abandoned them in v2.
Can we acknowledge without MP-44 (heck, without any existing 1st/3rd party masterpiece figures), this figure or any of Magic Square figures would not exist? With that said, MS-02 looks amazing. Still waiting for Magic Square to release a truly original mold.
What do you mean by original mold? Due to the nature of their plastics, and the flexibility they hold, all their molds are original because no other plastic could accommodate such articulation and complexity at that size.
@@Anduril1974 , that's technically true. I wasn't implying MS molds were a 1-to-1 copy (a KO) of other molds. But because MS-02 looks so similar to MP-44's bot mode design, I'm betting that MS used MP-44 as a basis. That is, they've found ways to either improve or cut-corners on MP-44's transformation. Also the fact that MS figures are released years after their similar-looking MP counterpart (MP-44 was released in 2019). So by original, I mean a mold where the bot design doesn't look like an existing mold and maybe with a character that's rarely been done (ahem, it's time that G1 Predacons have the latest and greatest MP-level redesign treatment).
A funny story, I thought I had the MS-01 but something felt off. Then I spent about 20 minutes searching through my retailer's listing to confirm through the dozens of Optimus I had purchased. And only to realized I had bought oh-so-many ranging from Weijang (RIP) Black Apple, Black Mamba LS-03, and the giant Lewin Resource LW-01 to name a few. Anyway, it turns out I have the TE-01. And I remember getting the TE-01 as I had to pick between Transform Element and Magic Square MS-01, both were prime choices at the time. Welp, looks like we came full circle and now I'm getting MS-02. My journey started out as getting that most unique Optimus, but now it's the best of each milestone lol.

Best prime since the G1 toy. TE coming in second. I still hope one day someone does the rear chassis as flat as the g1 toy.
Not a bad figure, but Idk if it's better than TE01. Articulation wise, it's good, but the materials? I wish that there was some die-cast in him. And I still love TE01's robot mode just a bit better. Anyways, thanks for the review, it showed me that this figure is more than an upscaled version of Light Of Victory.
Great review. I have three versions of MS-01, so I’m not sure I should get this one. Maybe in a nemesis color scheme.

Do you use high saturation for colors in your video? In hand the figure doesn't look this red, actually kinda dull instead. Articulation is probably the best of all MP Optimus figures. However the materials are bit lacking in comparison, esp without any diecast at all at MP scale.
Ever since you put out your light of victory video i saw it instantly, this was the best optimus prime. But of course, it was in miniature, I hoped that they would release it in masterpiece size, and I was sure they would release it, but it would take a while, maybe in July 2023, but I never imagined that they would release it so quickly. By far the best optimus prime ever released.
Can't lie I was liking that Magic Square toy a lot better than the official and I don't even collect MP scale TFs.
When can we expect reviews for the rest of the constructicons? Would love to see the rest and Devastator

A badass Prime has joined the battle. What is Nylon like for a figure like Prime? I've not dealt with Nylon figures before, I'm curious on it's durability and if I should worry about it breaking easily.
The plastic, in my opinion, is awesome. Revelatory even. It' durable as hell, won't fade, chip, weather, and allows for truly complex and compelling transformations. It's how MS are able to produce MP-quality figures at half the size. And it means they look like they stepped out of the cartoon, which is exactly what I want. :)

I am going to buy ang masterpiece scale OptimusPrime prime but i only need 1 Optimus so i have thing i like with m44 because he is a talking optimus prime toy reminds me of the wonderful voice actor he have and i have some things i hate with mp44 and MS-02 is very impressive but i dont like the chest window and has a very nice sculpt
just pre ordered for about 120$. HOPEFULLY that is the srp otherwise I feel like this would go cheaper

I got this and he is good! However the ratchets on his shoulder are wearing off extremely fast. I wonder if MS will offer stronger replacements that don't wear off.also my shoulders don't shift like u show here.

Looks good but I can see the fake parts, and I'm really not a fan of that or the super-toon aesthetic. Hide the waist wheels, sure, but no need to do that for the leg wheels. The angle legs are also not a great look. Too toon-like. Something MP-1 got right that I wish newer figures would do is the moving mouthplate. I miss that feature. It's better than SS86 by having the side skirts. I'd like to see something like this in SS86 scale.
No diecast? Still looks great. I would preorder him if I wasnt struggling with bills right now.
Idk if the soft colors should be a complaint, rather a preference since it looks that way on purpose to match the cartoon

the poseability on this fig is unreal
It looks perfect to me, but it's inconceivable that the only unpainted Transformer in my MP collection be Prime. So, i'll keep my MS-01 until MS do a painted MS-02.

Amazing figure but the plastic used brings it down.
You did it fairly, you showcased it's best and worst features.
Unfortunately I don't believe MS is going to re-engineer this Prime to try and hide the back pack a bit better so it wont be seen from the front but it's the only thing bothering me.

This cape surely is the most obvious design flaw when upscaled, but it's like iPhone's notch, it disappears when you have it for some time.

I'm baffled at why Takara decided to put voice gimmicks in MP-44 at the expense of a ridiculous backpack and weird stance, it's like they're making a product for kids I think they're confused at what age group their target audience is at for the masterpiece line.
This looks really good but I hate the kind of plastic ms uses for the red parts

Da hell. I mean double join is good but MS-B46 single elbow joint already have enough human arm articulaion though.
The top truck in robot is too big tbh. It's fine on legend scale but for MP scale. I don't think so.
Wish refer Bandai gunpla hands to engineer it better.
Just a few nitpick, he still a great figure though. But if you exclude the scale I think B46 is better prime overall. They even paint B46s rear skirt to have better cartoon look.
Do we know how much he will be? I was so close on getting the V1 recently,will hold off for this and hopefully a Sleep mode down the line.

Does he have "hip skirt lock" that the Legends scale figure does if you don't move the side skirt out of the way first. One of my few nitpicks of the Legends scale figure.
Too bad it isn't painted.... I hope they do an upscaled MS Grimlock! I would buy that in a heart beat. Such a cool sculpt. Not a fan of my Giga dino's.

The transformation seems a good deal smoother than on the smaller figure, and the ab hinges seem much better. It's a tad loose on my LoV.

Is the plastic used here similar to what MS normally uses on their Legends figures? Like, is it nylon? Or is it more like ABS?

Great review. Although I am not a regular collector, (single digit, mostly mp kos) I think I will have this! One question though. You said that it has easier transformation than mp44 or te01. But how it compares with the old ones like mp10? I see that is more complex but how about clearances? Does it transform smoothly or do you need to force it a bit? I do not intend to let him in a shelve for the rest his life... 😁
It's pretty easy to handle, and much easier compared to the smaller version because of the size giving more room for clearance. The leg transformation is a bit tricky, so people might need to force it at the beginning, but should be pretty easy to transform after a few runs.
Is that complaint just makes him seem a bit more like superman that way

Any die cast in this bot? Like maybe on the feet to keep it better on the floor. Is it a light plastic, or heavier plastic (like some of the MMC figures)? Their version 1 was very light, so can you do a comparison weight between version 1 and 2?
No, there's no metal parts just like their v1, and it should weigh very similar to v1 too. I have no MMC figures, not sure the density of the plastic, but MS-02 definitely is on the lighter end.
Damn. I just may sell off my TE Prime after seeing what MS has revealed.
Best MP Prime
Like the mold, dislike the cheap looking super shiny plastic. I'll wait for the inevitable repaints where we might get one with the flat matte pastel colors of MS-01.
