  • Today is the day to let Mr. Darcy into the big pasture with the boys. I was hoping for an uneventful release, but it didnt work out that way. This is pretty good horsey talk with Jarvis clearly saying hes high horse in this herd. Next time we have to do this we will walk together (in halter and lead rope) in the pasture for a little then release. See if that goes better.

Danielle, that’s Jarvis. He’s just under 18 hands high and is high horse sometimes. He pushes Darcy around and is the boss of any newcomers, but when there is a stronger horse around, he’s not so high in the herd .

That is a long explanation and probably one I should do in a video reply as I analyze that horrid introduction of them. Thankfully I have learned from the error and we have never had an incident such as that again.

Wouldn't it be safer to let them meet across a fence first?

See my horses did run the new one through the fence and now I’m scared to put him back.
