I returned to Seattle during a rare Spring heatwave. And had a little trouble staying cool today. To help keep my cool, I went out for coffee in the morning. I had two cups of remarkable coffee at Olympia Coffee Roasters on California Avenue in West Seattle.
Then I got tacos, rice and beans at the best Mexican restaurant in Seattle. It's a food truck named Taquitos Feliz on Fauntleroy in West Seattle. It's located right next to Lincoln Park just North of the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal.
It was a muggy day along with the hot temperature. And the heat got the better of me for part of the day. I used my portable swamp cooler to help combat the high temperature a little. When things cooled down a bit, I got out for a short walk through Lincoln Park.

My name is Scott and in 2015, I bought a Ram ProMaster City to live in. Even though I didn’t know much about RV’s and campervans, I set about building the van out as a minivan camper. And in April of 2016, I moved into my minivan full time.
Over the years, I’ve learned you don’t need to have a big skill set to build your own campervan. And that living as a minimalist and utilizing solar power can be a less expensive way to live. I’ve also learned that a minivan can be a very comfortable home.
Please follow along as I document my journey.

You're the only person that I've seen that loves coffee as much as I do.
What's better than coffee, right?
@@StaticCamperVan Awesome that your favorite coffee place is so close. You always should hit your favorite place. Who cares if someone disagrees?
Now living in my car wagon and saving for a van, I created window coverings. I use an arctic air fan I got at Walmart. You can put ice and water in a special compartment but I get lazy with that 😅 so I use a spray bottle filled with water, spritz myself down and stay quite cool. Especially spraying your t shirt holds the cool moisture and keeps the body cool. Everything seems to evaporate. Been in a heat wave in Illinois. Now it is June and getting hot and humid here. I retired this year now but still work part time as I want too. Fun learning this process of nomad life. Staying cool is important.
Hey Static, just wanted to say keep doin what your doing man. I started watching a bunch of van life channels during Covid. Most of them have gone by the wayside since then but yours has such a nice, relaxed vibe that it keeps me coming back. Nice walks, coffee, casual conversation. Perfect.
Thanks Sarge
My heart is there in West Seattle my son and my grandgirls are there. Homeless people are abundant, very sad that there isn’t provisions for all the people who can’t afford the rents. Your van is perfect for there.
I'm love my coffee ☕ , it is so beautiful in in Seattle, like watching your videos
My daughter lives in West Seattle and I visit often. The ferry goes to Vashon Island and Southworth near Port Orchard.
Moments of Bliss... The swamp cooler and ice cream on an ultra warm day
Every time I see you making a cup of coffee it makes me want to put on the kettle and make myself one too.
I do mine on the stove too!
Me too. Even as I watched this at 11:30 pm! Need to start watching this channel with my breakfast!
You do so well with self care. Its interesting to see how you work through the challenges of life living as a minimalist living in your Static Camper Van lifestyle. Have your best life for you!
I know are you feeling I am in Florida and it’s hot ,
I haven't used Spike in forever Sounds good
I’m new to your channel and so glad you popped up on my feed. Van life peeked my interest but it’s your calmness, sense of humor and content that made me press the subscribe button:)
Hey Thanks
:) WELCOME BACK! Yes it was a RECORD HEAT WAVE for all of us, I also suffered and still am with 2 fans going to sleep :( Good to know about your Food Truck too! I used to work West Seattle and BEST time in summer months hanging off poles on Alki :) You are SO right too to find Olympia Coffee, or ANYTHING is better than StarBux... I don't have to be as polite... Enjoy your stay and ALL the BEST! Stay cool! Cheers! :)
I had no ac once and used to wet my hair and even wet a hat or tshirt to stay cool. It works even better if when I blow a fan on myself with wet hair and clothing. 💨🌬💦💧🚰🧢👕
Also, cool wet cloths in arm pits or spraying face with water and fan on wet face.
Hi Scott, took a chance and happy to see your on. Your really knowledgeable on electrical stuff. It's a rainstorm all day here on City Island, Bronx NY 10464 and very humid, hot. You look like the weather is hot but the coffee looks really good. Someone told me to keep batteries in the frig when it's hot. At the end of the day your van is cozy. Oh God, for real....I like the sofa and chair. How is Mexican food. Is it spicy. Ooh, cool food truck. Does running the fan hurt the van battery? You do have to know so much when your in a van. Enjoy your day, thanks for sharing😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤.😊😊
Love how the salt lamp migrates around.
What’s that?
Food truck have good Food👍
👋 Scott
Glad to see you posted a new video. Looks like it is beautiful in Seattle. Your tacos looked amazing.
Hope you get your fan fixed.
Love you took us on a couple walks.
Dont forget to clean your solar panels off. I live by a school and we have hugh trees, but the pollen 😳 yikes. Well thanks for taking us along on your journey Bye-bye 😊
Love watching your videos . Your smooth, calm voice is mesmerizing.
Come enjoy Yellowstone..still snow in higher elevations and partially frozen lakes. So beautiful
Wish I had a cup of your coffee.
Safe travels always.
Love Alki Beach but Tacoma also has a beautiful park, POINT DEFIANCE PARK (PDP) with huge trees to walk through. Ruston Way is a great park to get to PDP by water. Enjoy
I use a paring knife to cut up food as well. More than any other knife that I have and I have a chefs knife.👍Scott
I love your videos! Beautiful views! You are so laid back and provide so much information. Thank you ❤
Thanks Darla
great video Scott i enjoy watching it
Thanks!
Oh wow, you are bsck up here, the best place in the country!
During the time you lived in Seattle I started a list of all the places you recommended and that Mexican food truck was one of them. I'm glad it's still there. Those series of vlogs in Seattle are my favorites. This is fun to revisit with you.
Ah, cool
Extreme weather both hot and cold sucks....makes me apprehensive also
I am enjoying some Peet's coffee, Major Dickenson. It is really blowing my hair back!
Yes, Peet’s and Starbucks are very similar
Beautiful shot of Seattle Scott. I want more coffee! Ha!
The only kind of ice cream i like is coffee. It is 95 degrees consistently these days but it is terriblly humid all day every day. Summer is here. 😰
Hi from Alaska, really enjoy ur video of West Seattle . I lived there in the 70's . Worked at Woolworth downtown on 4th Ave . Great City ! ❤️
We've been on the oregon coast since Wednesday, a nice 55 degrees😊
👍🏼
Crapola! I'm binge watching the videos now but I forgot to thumbs them up👍 so now I gotta go back and thumbs them all up!
Love Lincoln Park
Enjoy your videos my friend. Stay safe and enjoy life.
That sticky stuff from the trees is some sort of love juice.😁 At different times of the year white pines have that sort of juice it drips. And surprisinly, it isn't sap. They do that later.
So, I'm familiar with what you talk about.
As always, Thumbs up!😎👍
I grew up a few blocks from lake Washington, would swim all summer to stay cool.
making me hungry Scott lol.. TC 🙏
My mouth is watering over that Mexican food…the coffee… and those views. I need to visit Seattle one of these days. Have wanted to for years. Wish I had before it got so big. Thanks for your videos! ❤
Bro if your gonna get Mexican plssss I'm begging pls don't get it in Seattle you need to go more east for Mexican food. I'm Mexican and when i had Mexican food in Seattle it was all mid meh or bad
It was unreasonably warm last week! That auto ferry you spotted from Lincoln Park is the triangle route that operates between: Fauntleroy, Vashon, & Southworth.
Oh, I didn't know that the ferry went to two different locations. One of these days I want to take a ride somewhere.
Very nice relaxing video, glad to see you back up here. It was 95 today in Wenatchee WA. The next 10 days supposed to cooler. Seattle is beautiful this time of year.
Your voice is soothing. Power to you brother.
I am happy to see this current Video Thanks Champ
Nice one today, Scott!
Food trucks are the best. So neat you enjoy buying from them. Stay cool
Great video Scott, the Mexican food looks great, I’m terrible in the heat the temperature in the uk atm is mid 60s but getting warmer this week, take care x
Going for a gentle walk is a good idea. Visiting a favorie coffee roaster for a iced coffee is comforting.i find that if i can keep my face cool im fine. I can do that wiith a small fan. Enjoy.
Thanks for the knife recommendation! I just found one on Amazon; the pink version is only $6.75, so I went with that one. I really need a good knife and I have zero knowledge about knives, so I’m glad that CZcams recommended this video this morning! I hope you have a great day, Scott!
That's a really beautiful park.
Agreed! 💛
That sandwich looked really tasty! That’s my favourite mayo and I’ve use Spike since forever; it’s especially good on poached or soft boiled eggs.
Seattle is looking really inviting. In 2009 on one of my winter tours of the lower 48, I slept in a van on the east side of West Seattle in January with a magical view of the city. May have to do that again! Thanks for the wonderful video!
I hope the heat doesn't get any worse for you. I have been dreaming of sunshine and warmth. It was overcast, cold and windy here today and I wore three layers to walk the dog. 🥶 We are hoping to take the van for some vancamping in a week or so and chase some sunshine. We would like to explore central Oregon some more. We just loved it the last time we were there. I'm hoping to see Mendocino this summer too.
Coffee icecream is my absolute favorite btw! Oh, and for Mother's Day my daughter and her husband gave me a bag of light roast coffee and a Bigfoot mug! 😂❤
Enjoyed your video and I'm looking forward to the next.
Central Oregon is beautiful. Probably warm there right now
@Static CamperVan The last time we were in central Oregon it was the end of November and sooooo cold! We still hiked as much as we could, but we would love to see it without snow on the ground or frozen ponds. 😁
Wow surprised to see you back in Washington, was wondering if you were coming back this summer and also to the Olympic Peninsula, my "neck of the woods" (Port Angeles). Love that little raccoon sticker to pieces! I think it would look great on your coffee mug! Great video thanks!!
Honestly, I wasn't planning on coming back this far north this year. But it's nice here
I too like Seattle. BTW, I've just put my finger on it! You are not the average guy because of your articulative way you talk and express yourself. Somewhere along the way in your man life you said the heck with the macho come off and decided instead to be comfortable adding as much vocabulary in a day that you can. Bravo 👏 !
I’m glad we drove the van up to Alaska last summer and avoided the heatwave. The ferry from W Seattle goes to Vashon Island. You’d love Vashon.
Wow I missed your drive up north 😉
That sandwich looked fabulous !
Back in the 70s when we lived in Burien White Center was considered where a lot of Mexicans lived. Then West Seattle upper income.
So it doesn't surprise me.
What about a vent on the side of the van, maybe the door near the floor?
Maybe you need to head over to the Olympic Peninsula to some of your fav places there.
I think the temperatures are dropping back to normal now
Have an extra Mexican meal on us. Love your video's
Oh wow! Thanks So Much! I will have a few tacos!
Taco trucks, coffee stops, and strolls along the beach a journey enjoyed thrpugh n through. Great travelog video and new pace in life. Isopropyl alcohol and lavender oil spray, thank you for the idea. What a wonderful ending
The racoon reminds me of the 3 ft. tall one I encountered in my front yard here in Bellevue, looked like the size of a Labrador retriever. Really took me aback! Have not seen one since, this was around the Covid time.
Have you ever wrapped a cold , wet towel around your neck when you are hot? Just keep the towel wet. It’s an easy way to stay cooler. Hope you’ll stay comfortable. Take care & God bless.
Beautiful park!
I like watch your videos, Scott.
Have a wonderful evening 5/20/23
Good night
I love your videos… so relaxing. Love seeing all the scenery. You have such a calm and soothing voice. I look so forward to every video you post. I’m gonna need to find some Mexican food today. Lol
The view took my breath away, made me think of a day when I was in the park on Pallia Island in SC .. I just about cry remember that day when my world was at peace..that was a long time ago..thank you..
Thank you for taking us on your walk in the park, what a beautiful place.
That sticker is awesome. And yeah, great brand of knife. They hold an edge pretty well and easy to sharpen. Awesome vid bud.
No rain sound this time, Schott. Heat wave in Seattle!!! Maybe time for an AC :) Love your show.
I was surprised to see Yellowbird next to the Tobacco sauce at Safeway. Because of your video content I now enjoy Yellowbird Harbinero on my eggs each morning. It is really good. 😊😊😊
Thank you I really enjoyed your video.but you have made me hungry with all that lovely food.fish chips & mushy peas in my air frier now.stay cool freezing here in London.
Hey Scott,
I drive for Lyft in Seattle..
Free rides for you if you need one anytime while you are in town. Been inspired by your channel for a while now.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks that is nice of you
That plate looked good. You ever eat sopes? There's a taco 🚚, that the lady makes the sopes by hand as you order. They're delicious. A sope, is like a tostada, but smaller and a little thicker. I don't do well with extreme cold or hot either. Great video, thank you. 😊
Mmm, I like sopes.
Meanwhile over in eastern Washington, we hit 91F today. Have been working on insulating the new shop esp on the unshaded western side. I really love USB rechargeable fans to keep the air moving when paired with the Maxair fan. Since the Maxair fan is squeaking, the gunk that the brushes leaves on the housing needs to be cleaned out. Thankfully, Ray Outfitted put out a video on how to do just that.
we hit 98 in the tri-cities. thankfully we are heading down to the 70s and 80s
@@rvgrandmacharlotte4604 Monday and Tuesday look great and working outside without having to limit myself to first thing in the morning will be wonderful. Don't overheat down there!
I love watching your videos. You go to some amazing places. Also like your van setup
Thanks Mike
Hi! I am just now in the middle of your video. You are about to eat in the van for more comfort! 🤗
Love your videos. I got my mom liking your videos know. Over here in Texas in the summer it’s gets up to the 100’s❤
Thanks Corinna. Hi Mom 👋🏼
@@StaticCamperVan welcome. I will tell her hi.
Hey brother welcome to Seattle, you're in luck to be in a clear hot day this early in the year. There's good views of the Seattle sky line from west Seattle. It would be very cool to run into you on alki beach. You're right Starbucks is good but there are some better tasting coffees. Don't forget pike place market for good fish. Keep on keeping on brother!
Hi welcome back you've probably already checked out juanita beach park in Kirkland great place for shade on a hot day pretty spot nice place to keep cool
Not sure but don’t think I’ve been to Juanita Beach yet. I’ll try and check it out
@@StaticCamperVan we luv west Seattle too so nice. We live in Edmonds though so we usually go to Edmonds waterfront and Richmond beach in shoreline for fun .Its a cooler day today hurray 🐞🌸
I had to watch your video 4 times, I kept falling asleep.
My work is done here
I love West Seattle Good energy
One of my fave coffee places was Victor's in Redmond The original was Irish and hippies Wonderful
Oh yah Seattle Spanish food trucks the best
We were watching your video and noticed you were real close to Alki Spud Fish and Chips. Which we go to when we're there. Another great place for Vietnamese food is New Leaf Bistro on California Ave. My wife suggests putting a piece of cracker in your Spike or salt to reduce humidity and caking. Rice works well too. Enjoyed watching your video!
It's going to be another one of those summers the fires in canada made albuquerque's air quality poor. You need a little fold up table and a cooktop to make food outside if you are going to be in a hot place. Albuquerque calls smoke haze I want everyone to call it pollution
I have a table and can move my stove outside if needed.
And, u can use a square bake pans as a drip tray for your swamp cooler.
Ahh, Seattle. Still looking wonderful. I hope to get back there soon. Thanks for another great video.
Oh I see the swamp cooker is like the arctic air that I have. I see your fan is more powerful than the one I have. Still spritzing yourself with water really helps 😊
Yes, from what I’ve read, the Arctic Air is very similar
welcome home!!! The West Seattle Ferry goes to Vashon Island and Southworth on the Kitsap Peninsula. I grew up on Vashon.
Actually, I’m still in Washington. I haven’t gone back to California yet
You are an electronic wizard! Most important, stay cool!
The city and its parks are beautiful. Magical.
Great video Scott! Thanks for sharing, those tacos looked yummy!! Tacos are my favorite 😊 and coffee too!
I used to live in that area for 8 years. I'm almost going on my 2nd year back east and I miss it a lot sometimes. I pray I can visit again someday. Enjoy your time there
Also, keep small damp towels in your fridge for those days u need a quick cooling off too. Just apply it to your head and/or neck.
Really enjoying your episodes here in the UK they are recommend in radom order so I get old and new ones which I find is extra entertaining
Thanks. I have a Playlist with all of my videos in order from start to current, if you’re interested
czcams.com/play/PL9PWzpL1cZIHAST4lDsBmmENA2Dil_tRh.html
Nice neighborhood
Oh wow, you were right near my house. My guilty pleasure is Highlands blend from Diva Espresso. Can't be without it. I was crushed when they moved out of West Seattle. I grew up here, but it's changed so much, it's nowhere near as nice and quiet as it used to be. The Fauntleroy ferry goes to Vashon Island and Southworth.
I’ve never heard of Diva, I will look them up next visit
Awesome video
Welcome back to Washington
I enjoy how you anticipate getting flamed and ask people to be nice. Sweet naïveté!
Keep on keeping on.
When did I ask people to be nice?
Scott stay cool! Heat stroke is real . Install a small AC unit or get one of those water cool systems.
I don’t have enough electricity to run an A/C unit.
Have tried C and P coffee in W.seattle? California Ave. Great place to hang out!
Yes. I have two different vlogs about C&P. It’s a great neighborhood spot
I use to live right by Hamilton park… our view was awesome! We lived on the bluff facing downtown Seattle! Gorgeous!!❤
Thermoworks ThermoDrop Zipper-Pull Thermometer. Cheap & accurate. I've got 2, one at work and one at home for a couple years now and have had no issues and also good battery life.
