Hi there. Iâm new to the mala. I am blind, so I am a little confused as to how to hold it. Iâm new to this, and being blind probably doesnât help me. But I understand the concept of holding it between my thumb and middle finger, but I am not understanding how you move the beads towards you and all of that with just one hand while your free hand is on your lap. Either Iâm miss understanding something, or I just donât have the fine motor skills to be able to minipulate my beads in the way theyâre supposed to be minipulated with one hand. In short, Iâm confused, and Iâm sure being blind does not help me.
I don't know if this will help you. You can start with a bead on your middle finger and put your thumb over it, then move your thumb to the next bead and bring it to the middle finger. It's a pulling motion towards your middle finger (or towards your hand or your body). Use the middle finger as the bead's support. I do it that way and it works very well. Please let me know if this helps!
@@seophoria thank you. I actually started using this method based on some other things I read, and it works well.
Hello Ida sorry for the late response. If you are still having troubles with this please let us know and send us an email to info@arhantayoga.org we would be happy to assist you.
Never let mala cross your navel while holding for chanting
This is mostly because below the navel is considered impure in some places.
Thank you Ram đ
You are most welcome! Thanks for chanting with us.
