I was already hoping you're going to react to this. Let me explain the concept. They're all singers from the Netherlands. In every episode, one of the singers will be interviewd and the other singers will be singing a song for that person. So they choose a song of that person or they choose a song that means a lot to that person. Duncan was singing 'I do' for Douwe Bob (which is originally a song of Douwe Bob). Maybe you know him from Eurovision, he participated in 2016. So no, it wasn't his boyfriend 😉.
The song is written by the man who's crying. His name is Douwe Bob. He has anticipated in ESC for the Netherlands in 2016. The singer is Duncan Laurence, who has also anticipated in ESC but in 2019 for the Netherlands and won with "Arcade".

The guy crying is Douwe Bob, the songwriter and original artist of this beautiful song. The Beste Zangers 2019 edition with Floor Jansen in my opinion is still the best, but this season is very promising also!
It promises to be a great season once again. The singers this year are Douwe Bob (this was his episode, his songs were “covered” by his colleagues Duncan, Meau (young lady with the bangs, singer songwriter), Mel (young lady with the hat, singer songwriter), Numidia (long dark hair, rapper), Nick Schilder (nowadays solo artist, songwriter) and Marko Bakker (baritone, classical singer).

There are mamy seasons of ,,Beste Zangers ,, Every time a singer if the group on the coach. The others sing for that person > a song of him or herself or a song he/,she loves. It is not a compatition but a tribute to the person on the coach.

The guy Duncan is singing this song to is Douwe Bob (it's Douwe's song). Douwe participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Slow down". He took 11th place in the final.

The guy who's crying is not his boyfriend, but it's his song, he wrote it 🙂 The concept of the TV-program Beste Zangers is that 8 singers of different ages and different genres come together and then each episode one of them is in the spotlight and then the others perform one of his/her own songs or a song that has a special meaning to them. The guy who's crying is Douwe Bob, he represented the Netherlands at Eurovision in 2016. The song which Duncan is performing her, Douwe wrote it when his girlfriend broke up with him and he poured all his emotions at that moment into this song.

Beste Zangers has 2 meanings, it can mean the best singers, but here it means Dear Singers.
There are 7 singers, in general representing different genres and everyone has a night in "the hot seat", wich means that the other singers are singing a song for him/her. A while before the shows begin each hands in a list of their own songs and songs that are dear to them, so every singer can make a choice wich song they are going to sing, wich is kept a secret until it's sung that night. It is a surprise for the one in the hot seat, so it can be very emotional sometimes when you hear someone else sing a song that is dear to you. So everyone has a night in the hot seat, so that makes 7 shows. There is an 8th show where they sing duets together.

De Beste Zangers (The Best Singers) is a Dutch television program that is broadcast by AVROTROS on NPO 1. Each episode focuses on one singer, for whom each other singer has selected a song to sing. The singers are accompanied by the Marcel Fisser Band. Since 2012, the program has been presented by Jan Smit. Participation in the Best Singers was a turning point in their careers for a number of participants, such as Glennis Grace, André Hazes Jr., Tino Martin, Emma Heesters and Davina Michelle.
The Best Singers format can be seen in several countries and is known there as Love for Music (Belgium), Sing meinen Song (Germany) and Toppen af Poppen (Denmark). Spain, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Switzerland, France, Sweden and the United Kingdom also have a version of Best Singers.

Back when it first came out on valentinesday, when Douwe recorded it raw after all he had been through, can't find that version anywhere anymore unfortunately... i think it was the best. Was always sad you never picked up on it, but then you get loads of emails so i guess it would take a hundred of the same to get noticed...😅

The song is about being/feeling alone after a break-up. Douwe Bob was our entry for Eurovision in 2016 with the song 'slow down' (like Duncan was in 2019 with 'Arcade'), They are not in a relationship though. Douwe Bob is as straight as they come ;-)

The format is about a couple of artist singers duo s that are called this years best singers there more edition and it’s about the artist sitting in the circle so each evening it’s broadcasted another singer get another version of his favorite, populair or unpopular song or another song that the artist have strong connection with … meaningful songs … I like it douwe Bob song was I do but Duncan sings it to another level…

Both Duncan Laurence and Douwe Bob (who he is singing for) represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Contest. It's a 'break up song' indeed, Douwe Bob wrote it crying at the piano. Having you thinking that Duncan (who is a married man) is actually the boyfriend of Douwe Bob (who is an engaged man) sure means he knows how to bring a song! BTW during the show he did mention that the whole group fell in love with Douwe Bob a little while being away in Sevilla when recording this show, since he is so likable. BTW the older gentleman is Marco Bakker, an opera singer who is the oldest participant of Beste Zangers ever (85 years old). Nick Schilder (with beard) was part of the in Holland immensely popular folk duo Nick & Simon for a long time, but has recently gone solo. Mell (with black cap) is the granddaughter of Piet Veerman (singer & guitarist of The Cats). I had never heard of her and the other girls (Meau and Numidia) to be honest! But that's the beauty of this show, discovering new gems that had been hidden to me so far (I am a Dutchie abroad).

All dutch artists. Duncan sung Douwe Bob's song and he was emotional like many because of the performance. Unfortunately I don't know much of the other names in the room.
