    Sounds great!
I came across an interview (in Korean) in which Mikyung Sung plays some excerpts, including some orchestral excerpts, which we never usually get to hear her play, starting here: czcams.com/video/ytonMhjB84g/video.html (There are links to each excerpt in a comment.) Also, in case you didn’t notice, Mikyung moved back to her main CZcams channel (instead of the Bass Queen channel she was using for a while), with lots of new archival videos.

At 2:36, why not just leave first finger down if it’s the same note each time? Does it help with resonance to replace that finger each time?

It just helps me release the tension, my strings have an high Action and honestly I didn't think of doing it otherwise. The hand just finds it easier to do it that way😀

  • @anthonyamodeo-thomson1033

Do you keep a high action on purpose? My left forearm is killing me, I actually dropped out of music school years ago it got so bad. I've now come back to the bass and am trying to avoid injury....any advice?

If you play in orchestra you can't keep the strings too low otherwise you risk string buzzing and also the sound might feel "weaker than usual".....but it's also important that the fingerboard has a nice lenghtwise concavity (also to avoid buzzing) and last but not the least: the height of the strings at the NUT (this in my opinion is crucial to feel comfortable in the lowest positions where the hand streches the most👌

You shouldn’t grip the bass or use your forearm. You should hang on the neck.

Hello, here you can find the complete part and can extract what you need for the audition: imslp.org/wiki/Symphony_No.5%2C_Op.67_(Beethoven%2C_Ludwig_van)
Or usually when you apply for an audition, the orchestra is sending you the PDF file with the excerpts requested
