  • Found some Farberware on ebay for a terrific price. Looked like they might have been in a house fire but new? Then on Etsy I found an elusive 12 inch aluminum clad omelet pan in very good condition. All in need of a good cleaning! That's it, I'm done collecting Farberware! Says the cookware addict ;) Sharing :)

    I got similar pieces from this set at a resale shop. The heat conduction on aluminum clad is amazing. I started with 1 pot and polished it up and it looked beautiful. It worked so well that I went back to the shop to get a few more pieces from the set. I love those old osterizers too. I noticed you had one in the background, ever try screwing on the blades to a mason jar and enjoying your smoothie straight from there? I think its a great design and love how easy it is to change the blade assembly. theyre also real cheap and easy to find

      I should have known mason jars would be the right size but didn't. Cool!

      @@xetaprime haha you will enjoy your blender so much more since it minimizes the cleaning you have to do! After I enjoy my smoothie out of a jar I just fill with hot water and shake and then let it air dry!

    What do you use for cleaning?

    • @xetaprime
      @xetaprime  Před 2 lety +3

      Mostly bar keepers friend for the steel and Mothers mag aluminum polish for the clad base and handle. I might use Bon Ami 1886 if the aluminum is dirty. Then followed by Mothers.

    I love my farberware.
    I am still using the original set from my wedding shower in 1971. They have gone from gas, to electric, to glass top, back to gas and have never been in a dishwasher.
    They are in tip top shape but my 2 qt. saucepan/ double broiler has a handle that keeps coming loose. It must be stripped. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @xetaprime
      @xetaprime  Před 2 lety

      Wonderful Farberware story! Sorry to hear about the handle. Only thing I can think of is examine the bolt. If the bolt is stripped replacement handles can be found on ebay. If it's the saucepan :( New 70s-80s double boilers do pop up on ebay also now and then. All the best.

    The question is what are you going to do with your horde? (Open a restaurant) Auction it all off? Your skills & knowledge of polishing restoration work must have come a long way by now what are you going to apply yourself to now jewellery making, antique metal work, armour polishing. Hmm shiny become a blacksmith really branch out or get tig welding under your knowledge belt & make stainless steel BBQ's from converted industrial washing machine drums with rotisserie designs incorporated. Thats what i would do if i had a garden & resources. Melded with keyclamp components for posible frame work away from the heat? Heat shielded drum with rockwall clad with sheet metal riveted on. Grinder cut side doors for cleaning or an oven design with piano hinge inserted into the cut & fixed before finishing the opening? Or a sement mixer flip pivot for dumping out the spent coals. All ideas i cant realize not having the means boo hoo for me.

      If i ever get there can i pick your brains for polishing tips & tricks? Lol. Oh the visions giant wok top or flat up turned plate for cook top with raiseable function to regulate air flow & heat. Or vent sliders all designed with safety in mind not to cook the cook or by standers.

      " Grinder cut side doors for cleaning or an oven design with piano hinge inserted into the cut & fixed before finishing the opening?" Not sure what that is but sounds great! I can almost picture it... My only tip is pick up some Mothers Mag. It's great for all sorts of things! Amazing stuff.

      @Ikura Prime Mothers Mag just searched it i wasnt familiar with it thought it might be a US product but there it is on UK stores general purpose metal polish. I found an image to better share my idea, a cut to lenght strip hinge I could cut a straight line for the knuckle then push it in fix with rivets & form an easy door. www.aluminiumtrading.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Piano-Hinges.jpg Metal work experience a steady hand & straight edge or 2 would get it done nicely. Just to clad the washing machine outer drum tidy it up hope that helps the mental image.

    I prefer Revere ware. Farberware handles suck.

    • @xetaprime
      @xetaprime  Před 3 lety +5

      The handles (love them) are weird but I feel Farberware has more even heating. The copper is too thin on Revere Ware, even on the older ones and prone to warping. :)

    I found a used and more affordable thick copper Sur La Table frying pan on ebay if you're interested. I bought another one with a slightly lower price from a different seller. It's pretty heavy though so keep that in mind. If you are interested I can send you a message though ebay.

      Truthfully, I'm spent. I've got a Household Institute pan coming, like the Majestic but 11-3/4" and 2 Visions pieces. I hung my head with my palm to my forehead before charging the last few items... that said, what pan is it so I can at least look it up :)

      @@xetaprimeGreat video. I have two classic faberware pieces that I inherited. How do you estimate when they were made? Mine have “NYC” on the bottom and not Bronx like I’ve seen on some other pieces. They look similar to the ones in this video.
