Hi Kate, enjoyed the blog and your previous content, I've been looking at the SDR for a few years and took the plunge 6 weeks ago, due in part to the fabulous promotion, honestly cant believe i now own one. Yes it is slightly bonkers , sixth gear is kinda overdrive or continental cruising, I tend to run 3rd and 4th around my local country roads, handle bars set back as far as possible, comfy enough for me, what a blast. Induction roar is awesome and gives an audible indication of where you're at on the revs.
It would great if KTM would produce an RC 8 version of this. So not like the recent parallel twin limited edition but with the good old V-twin. I loved the original RC 8 for its bold looks. Pity it did not sell well enough. On the other hand that is how real classics are born. 🙂

Great video! Wow, you are getting to ride some sweet bikes. Beautiful bike for sure. I love the sound of that bike with the Akro. Badass as you say! But, for where I live, the engine heat is atrocious in the summer. In the UK I would imagine it's lovely. Then there is the headlight. There is no arguing it is divisive. Some really like it, some don't . Great job Kate. I can't wait to see you ride this one. Best!

Hi Kate. Just watched your video, great job! Funest bike I have owned, with electronics (tech pack) certainly not to much power. My 2023 is two tone black (matt/gloss) with orange frame, from the factory like that.

UK KTM dealers must have plenty of remaining stock to clear in time for the arrival of the 1390 Super Duke R next year because KTM dealers is other countries such as Germany aren't offering any special deals.

Great vid, I own a gen 1 1290 Super Duke R, with a full Boddis high level system with mapping on rolling Road, pushing out 195bhp whatever that is at the wheel, hope username Dad is hale and hearty, all the best .👍👍👍👍👍

well, I just rode today a 2023 1290 super adventure S .... what a monster!! so I can only imagine how the duke is. Must be insane ... that being said, I think I prefer the rock solid confidence that my 1050 strom gives me. Maybe I am getting old ....
Beautiful bike, but I am no fan of keyless ignition....I feel like sometimes they are thrusting tech at us rather than listening to what we are asking for.
You can never have too much power available-done have to use it all at once.
Really nice bike and the price is really tempting. Would get if I didn't think its a hazard knowing myself. Always wonder why KTM have a little notch in the top left corner of their displays, anyone know why?

I saw that bit at the end on a short you put up. Made me laugh😂 Not sure I really like having the walk around as a independent video then having to wait for the actual test 🤔 For me all in one video is better which I'm sure is what you used to do?
I appreciate it's not for everyone, but since I do 2 vlogs a week, I like to go indepth with the close ups and everything else I do in the walkrounds that there just isn't enough time for (on more tech laden/well specc'ed bikes) if I were to combine it all. These vlogs I guess are mostly aimed at people interested in the bikes or who own them and who like to see how the dash works etc. I include the words ride review in the riding vlogs so if these aren't for you - look out for those. It's rare I'll do 2 walkrounds in a single week where I can help it 👍
Fair enough. Just a thought but how about a short walk round in the riding videos for people who want a look at the bike without having to watch another video? You could mention for a full much more detailed walk around of this bike see my other video with a link to it? Like you say these detailed videos are great for new owners of that machine. I enjoyed the one on the Hornet as I own one and it saved me reading the manual 😂
That's what I do now but alot of stuff was filmed a while ago so there well be inconsistencies for a while 😊

@Ivan-bg1jp heated grips are awesome, especially at the start and end of season. Let's me ride in race gloves all season and not need big chunky winter gloves.
@@bikerboi1983 yep, all that extra wiring, the control unit, the switchgear. It all counts, especially when combined with all other tech stuff no one really wants. All you need is a rev counter and a way to turn the thing on and off really.

I owned a KTM 950SM for years. Not one single issue with it. Not one.
I notice you didn't say "pretty reliable" because KTM's are NOT.
That's of particular interest to me as a prospective owner of a 1390 Super Duke R next year.
My limited searching so far seems to suggest the 1290 is more reliable than the 890 and particularly so the 790 which appears to have the most problems.
Of 1290's issues it mostly appears to be leaking fluids seemingly due to poorly fitted hoses and/or clips and the dashboard inexplicably indicating problems that disappear after turning the bike off and on again.
I’m an ex Service manger with KTM , don’t do it,I would never own one! Enough said?😢
My 2020 1290 had two major electrical failures leaving me stranded.
It were good in handling but could not trust it so traded it in
8k on my 790 had one minor coolant leak changed the hoses for Samco ones everything been fine other than that
@@rickyreed8354 Is Samco the go-to brand when replacing hoses on KTMs then? I'm guessing that KTM dealers only use OEM hoses when replacing them under warranty though.
KTM 's don't do it for me , i like your enthusiasm, but even with the massive drop £££ and the 2 extra years warranty,
