@@jangjahnh1654they were plugged in to the various leagues and got big interviews, they reported, they were in the know. Today, it’s just blather. It’s more a fan’s perspective. With Mike and Dog you knew what owners were thinking, players, league execs. Today’s guys never pick up a phone. They’re just radio guys. They can do their shows in a bubble.

At the end of the day it's a job and they respected each other enough to be hugely successful for five hours a day for 19 years. That's a ridiculous amount of content to put out as a team.

russo and Francesca were a great listen but too much ego. i know people who worked at WFAN during the 90s who told me the relationship was extremely hot and cold. chris resented the aspect that mike was considered the " senior" partner in the relationship which was generally understood. never really a co-equal partnership.

I love mad dog. The fan went downhill when he left . Last time I listened maybe 10 plus years ago it was boomer & carton , instead of imus in the morning , joe beningo who was a caller with that nepotism brat evan Roberts the guy was 23 with a show on wfan. I see much more talented guys work their butts off doing local high school games and occasionally got to do the 20 20 flash . Then it was either a game or steve summers who was really funny after mike & the mad dog. Steve sommers did the overnights and on sundays they put a syndicated guy on named Ferrell the fans hated . Anyway seems the fan has had a lot if controversy seems everyone hates francessa like all the guys on michael Kay's show or boomer ( who used to be on with carton but got arrested
My point is wfan in the 90s had mike & the mad dog the most popular show around. I'm from ny so I listened to them but were they syndicated in other markets or just ny parts of ct jersey and pa

Dog was a fool to leave the fan should have takin over the am.
That said there is no question francessa manipulated him out the door by creating fake arguments etc all he fell for.
Remember francessa knew the dog was unhappy.
He just put some grease on the rails

Chris Russo couldn't stand Mike Francesa he's not gonna admit it.. I remember the Classic Rant between the both of them on the air about a new Yankee Stadium being built Mike and Mad Dogg argued for about 15 minutes lol.. Russo left because he got tired of being in Mike's huge shadow and wanted his own show..
