I had a cheap crappy Mic to get me started streaming, it produced a bad echo which for some reason got worse during a live stream, so bad viewers started to say so. So i finished my stream and ordered a new mic... Elgato wave 1. I told my viewers I would not be streaming for 2 days until new mic arrived. Setup was easy...followed video instructions to a tee...booom same problems you have just addressed, I tried everything, searched for answers, looked on Elgato for a fix...Nothing. was ready to pull my hair out...just today! Now i can go home and fix this before my morning stream...Thank you again...You rock 👊🔥💯
Wow! I have been trying to solve these Wave 3/HD60X audio issues for days, especially the audio syncing with OBS on my dual PC set-up. I have watched 30-40 videos with no luck. The Wave Link System thing fixed everything! Yr a genius!
Anyone else purchase one of these recently? I loved it at first, but now I absolutely hate it. There is a bad audio delay in recording, streaming. The only zero latency is when you monitor via the mic's headphone jack, but when you stream and record there's a near 1 second delay. It sucks.

Cool tutorial man. My issue is that the audio from my headset like gunshots or game chat keeps leaking from my astro a50 headset and into my wave 3 mic. Do you think these noise filters on OBS will fix that?
Thank you so much for the help. The feedback loop was driving me insane I didn't know how to separate my audio from the game audio. Another thing to look out for if you are still hearing yourself is this: Control Panel > Hardware and sound > Sound > Recording > El Gato Mic > Listen. Check off the "Listen to this device" setting and you shouldn't hear yourself anymore.
Yooo thank you this was super helpful. It makes so much sense that the system profile is for that, kind of makes the game channel redundant, but if it works and makes things easy then whatever.

This just help me fix the issues of having double audio through my mic. If I had my wavelink mic mixers on and running it through obs separately you get double audio and its annoying. Thank you for telling me to just mute the wavelink mic plug in. They need to update that so we can set out mic apart from the rest of the software

Will OBS pick up a seperate feed for the MIC, and allow filters, if it is plugged into the Gaming PC? Reason I ask is I want to Stream DayZ and MIC input is needed to communicate with other players IN game. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Isaiah Black I’m sorry I’m not sure my friend. I run a single PC set up. I would assume the only way that would work was if you were using a team chat software like discord on your streaming PC.
I can’t hear anything. I’m not sure what’s happening but even when I try listening to my voice through wave link nothing no sound but it says it’s working
I get the no background noise while streaming/recording but what ab when ur just playing off stream not recording. You can still hear all the background noise Bc it’s not going through obs or anything just the game audio
When your playing off stream, you can set up "threshold" to cut out background noise in both discord, and call of duty. im not so sure about other games because i almost always use discord when playing for my team chat.

I was concerned about usb mics. I was almost considering xlr all the way. I just don’t want loud background noise and keyboard clicks. If it’s a low audible keyboard sound that’s alright but loud clicks no way

I just can't download wave link it keeps saying "do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device" It says driver something and then I click Yes but then it says " Failed. Please reboot the installation." Please help I always wanted a microphone but I can't even use it. Somebody please help :(
I just hooked up mine, but my issue is no one could hear me in stream. I had set vst through wave link and even recorded myself with streamlabs and could hear myself just fine. But as soon as I streamed, I couldn't hear my friends in chat, but they could hear me, but the stream couldn't hear me. Like WTF lol. I'll try your settings later today. Not sure it matters since this was a year ago for you
If You are having issues jump into the discord and I can try to help you figure it out. I have helped a ton of people so I'm pretty well versed on setting these things up. They can be a huge pain.
My stream audio is jacked. Half way through the stream the audio gets choppy and robot like. Not a huge fan of this mic. It’s been a nightmare to get working! Any tips

make sure that in WZ audio options your recording device is set to you default recording device. there is also a known glitch in WZ right now with in game chat. had the same thing happen with a buddy the other night who was playing on Xbox. mid game just stopped being able to hear each other. it may not be you at all, it very well may be the game.
@@garza2o551 you bet man. i hope that helped. 99% of the audio problems i have had with in game chat are because the wrong device was selected in the game. the other 1% is bbecause of WZ being glitchy. i highly recomend using discord when possible.

Ok this was the best review help ive ever found could u help with streaming from streamlabs with a elgato hd60s and having team chat and audio able to play if i plug my headphones into my game controller
the problem that i have is that the game can be heard on the stream it's just when the game gets a bit quiet but i can hear in game sounds it does not pick it up on recording / stream and it just mutes if anyone can help it will be appreciated

Well first of all thank you for checking out my stream and the positive words about the video! It took some time fine tuning the filters and sounding like dummys making a bunch of noise to find out at what level our mics pick each other up.
Some super useful stuff here deffo helped me. Wondering if you've had issues with your stream alerts? I keep getting a deafening stream alert through my headset and my stream can't hear it but when I go on browser source and click test it says it's playing sound. I can't seem to find ANYTHING that helps.
@@mccaurthor so turns out I’m a moron. My computer audio was set to headphones. Which meant when my browser (stream labs alerts sounds played) it played at the reduced volume like I wanted it too but also the Streamlabs OBS app played it at default (max volume) to my headset. Changed my pc audio to wave 3 headset so nowhere essentially and it was instantly fixed
Cool video man, thanks! It really helped me. Only issue I'm having now is that I can't use "Mic in" as input device in Ms Teams. If I do that, no one hears me talking... I have to set the wave link stream as the input device so I can make it work, which will mean music will leak over the line... Did you encounter such an issue?
@@mccaurthor I just found the solution, it seems like the new option in wave link "wave gain lock" actually put the microphone in exclusive mode in Windows 10 sound settings, which prevented other software from properly grabbing it's input. The problem was that the "Mic In" in OBS would always be silent, and we could only hear the mic through the Wave Link Stream Mix.
So I’m having the issue you stated. My SLOBS mixer shows audio is working. Mic is working great but on my streams no desktop audio. I just tried your fix and nothing changed. I’ve been messing with it for five hours and have no idea. Please help
I adjusted my settings the same as you have routing all the sounds through the wave link system, but now I can’t hear anything from my browser in my headset.
Kilian Wilson did you add your browser as a source in wavelink? If I remember correctly my browser was also giving me trouble try routing it through one of the “Aux” options in wavelink. Let me know if this helps!
Yeah Ive got HOURS into trying to get my game audio recording to a separate track. Ive got recordings with voice and no game audio, and with game and voice on same track so not adjustable. I thought I was fairly savvy with techy stuff, but apparently not bc I swear I have the settings correct - - an yet it must be user error. UGHHH
@@mccaurthor Im embarrassed to say that it turned out to be my editing software - the mic and OBS was set up correctly. Turns out Filmora (which I went with bc it's recommended and Im still a novice) doesnt natively do two audio tracks so I thought they werent there. Once I finally learned that, I knew to go look for the two tracks. Kinda dumb, and now Im considering getting DaVinci Resolve.
My problem is that if I set the output to the wavelink I can hear anything anymore, and if i set it to my headset the spund is back. Also although wave link says that the mic is recording my voice, no one can hear me... help
Let get this figured out. So your output is set to wave link in what program? Windows or SLOBS? Also is the correct headset selected in wavelink? That has happened to me where I can’t hear anything and it’s because my Corsair voids weren’t selected in wave link. And last your stream can’t hear you? Did you add the mic the way I explained it in the video?
@@mccaurthor woah that was a quick response! They now able to hear me, I just used the search for problems setting in the windows settings and they suddenly heard me. As far as I understand windows just changed the audio settings from 96000 hz to 48000. When I tried to put it back to 96000hz they couldnt hear me anymore, why is that? I don't quite understand the whole hz thing....
@@mccaurthor concering me not being able to hear anything: I still didn't find a solution. The output is set on windows and I seleceted my headset on wavelink. But it's wireless, is that a problem?
@@williamdripspeare741 so the reason they can now hear you is that your audio gets compressed to 4800 through twitch. No the wireless headset is not a problem. I use one. Make sure your audio is routed correctly in wavelink. So for example if your Firefox is trying to push audio through like your onboard sound card it won’t come through. Open wave link and make sure the audio bars are moving while the sound is playing if they aren’t it means that source is not added correctly. If they are moving but you still can’t hear it try restarting your headset and pc.
im still having issues my mic is picking everything up like the typing breathing and going straight to my headphones had the mic for awhile and it just started doing it
how did you get your party chat with your headset and the wave link 3? If you are using an elgato if not then your probably screen recording is my guess?
@@mccaurthor so your video shows how to set it up for stream. Say for instance game chat itself on COD. My fan is blowing in my mic in my game chat but not on my stream.
@@necco.1 so in COD you have the same option to adjust your threshold. I’d turn that up a little and it will stop hot micing. I believe I have mine set to around 3
Don't know if this has been asked already but it looks like you're using a wireless headset with your wave 3 if you are did you or are you experiencing any sort of audio lag? I heard in a couple reviews that when using a wireless headset that cant plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack that you will experience a lag and just wanted to know how bad it is thanks in advanced if you reply ! That seems to be a common issue. I think it’s because they have a mixer of their own. And I don’t think they will work with wave link. I’m really debating buying a pair to try to figure it out for you guys!
Had mine for about 5 days and im seriously not liking it. Do you find every time you reset your pc the settings get reset and you have to do everything all over again?
No I don’t have that problem. I even unplug mine sometimes, when my wife streams and I’m just playing with her. And I plug it in and have no problems. I’m sorry you’re having issues my dude.
I have noticed with mine, that the button/dial on the mic when it is set to PC/Mic mix will basically cause no sounds to play when I come back to the system after it has hibernated. The solution is terribly simple, after I spent half an hour tinkering and fighting with it; just turn the dial back and forth. The sound came back, I adjusted the level and boom, off and running.

Are you still using the Wave 3? I swear, everytime I start a stream, I'm having issues. I firmly believe that this is a fantastic mic, and it's all user error.
After switching to Wave Link software, now I'm facing audio delay, why is that? when I shoot in r6 siege, I hear the bullet after like half a second. My headset is: SteelSeries Arctis 7 Wireless. thanks.
Great video. Do you know if there is a way to link the wave 3 with wave link to include in game chat with an Xbox series x? Or maybe any other viewer that watches this has figured it out. I’m thinking it may work with the Xbox companion app on my pc. But maybe that’s just party chat and not in game chat. Anyway, if you have an idea or can help, that would be great. I use the Astro A40 mixamp TR gen 4. Right now I chat through headset mic but the wave 3 would sound much better.
GhOsTs GeNeRaL if it sounds better at 40% than you’re good. Everybody’s set up is different, I keep my mic pretty close to my face so that’s why I have mine set lower. But if 40% works for you, you’re good!! Thanks for the question!
GhOsTs GeNeRaL have it set to whatever sounds good! Don’t over think it. You can use the program audacity to do some test recordings and play with different gain levels.

Honestly, I only came here just for the mic setup, but I'll sub just as a thanks because I used to have a headset mic that sounded just fine but wanted something better and got Elgato Wave 3 and with this mic it seemed like I had 2 options - raise gain and pick up my minifridge, laptop fan, and my wife's TV show in the next room behind 2 doors (not even mentioning the clicking of keyboard and buttons), OR lower the mic gain and basically have to push the mic up to my mouth in order for people to hear me, so I was almost going to make the conclusion that headset mics are better. Thanks for this!

Switch from the headphones in wave link to something else and then switch back. I don’t know why that works but it does.

There are not filters built in to eliminate the back ground noise!

Ok in warzone the lobby can hear me but I can’t hear them. I get game audio through my headset but no chat audio. I use battlenet
make sure that in WZ audio options your recording device is set to you default recording device. there is also a known glitch in WZ right now with in game chat. had the same thing happen with a buddy the other night who was playing on Xbox. mid game just stopped being able to hear each other. it may not be you at all, it very well may be the game.

@@garza2o551 you bet man. i hope that helped. 99% of the audio problems i have had with in game chat are because the wrong device was selected in the game. the other 1% is bbecause of WZ being glitchy. i highly recomend using discord when possible.

the problem that i have is that the game can be heard on the stream it's just when the game gets a bit quiet but i can hear in game sounds it does not pick it up on recording / stream and it just mutes if anyone can help it will be appreciated

Well first of all thank you for checking out my stream and the positive words about the video! It took some time fine tuning the filters and sounding like dummys making a bunch of noise to find out at what level our mics pick each other up.
Some super useful stuff here deffo helped me. Wondering if you've had issues with your stream alerts? I keep getting a deafening stream alert through my headset and my stream can't hear it but when I go on browser source and click test it says it's playing sound. I can't seem to find ANYTHING that helps.
I have not had that problem, but I wonder if you open OBS and then open wavelink if you can then add OBS to wavelink?
@@mccaurthor so turns out I’m a moron. My computer audio was set to headphones. Which meant when my browser (stream labs alerts sounds played) it played at the reduced volume like I wanted it too but also the Streamlabs OBS app played it at default (max volume) to my headset. Changed my pc audio to wave 3 headset so nowhere essentially and it was instantly fixed

It really helped me. Only issue I'm having now is that I can't use "Mic in" as input device in Ms Teams. If I do that, no one hears me talking... I have to set the wave link stream as the input device so I can make it work, which will mean music will leak over the line...
Did you encounter such an issue?
I don’t think I fully understand the question. You will have to set wavelink stream as an input in slobs, and the the wavel mic and the other input.
@@mccaurthor I just found the solution, it seems like the new option in wave link "wave gain lock" actually put the microphone in exclusive mode in Windows 10 sound settings, which prevented other software from properly grabbing it's input.
The problem was that the "Mic In" in OBS would always be silent, and we could only hear the mic through the Wave Link Stream Mix.
So I’m having the issue you stated. My SLOBS mixer shows audio is working. Mic is working great but on my streams no desktop audio. I just tried your fix and nothing changed. I’ve been messing with it for five hours and have no idea. Please help
I adjusted my settings the same as you have routing all the sounds through the wave link system, but now I can’t hear anything from my browser in my headset.
Kilian Wilson did you add your browser as a source in wavelink? If I remember correctly my browser was also giving me trouble try routing it through one of the “Aux” options in wavelink. Let me know if this helps!
Yeah Ive got HOURS into trying to get my game audio recording to a separate track. Ive got recordings with voice and no game audio, and with game and voice on same track so not adjustable. I thought I was fairly savvy with techy stuff, but apparently not bc I swear I have the settings correct - - an yet it must be user error. UGHHH

@@mccaurthor Im embarrassed to say that it turned out to be my editing software - the mic and OBS was set up correctly. Turns out Filmora (which I went with bc it's recommended and Im still a novice) doesnt natively do two audio tracks so I thought they werent there. Once I finally learned that, I knew to go look for the two tracks. Kinda dumb, and now Im considering getting DaVinci Resolve.

My problem is that if I set the output to the wavelink I can hear anything anymore, and if i set it to my headset the spund is back. Also although wave link says that the mic is recording my voice, no one can hear me... help
Let get this figured out. So your output is set to wave link in what program? Windows or SLOBS? Also is the correct headset selected in wavelink? That has happened to me where I can’t hear anything and it’s because my Corsair voids weren’t selected in wave link. And last your stream can’t hear you? Did you add the mic the way I explained it in the video?
@@mccaurthor woah that was a quick response! They now able to hear me, I just used the search for problems setting in the windows settings and they suddenly heard me. As far as I understand windows just changed the audio settings from 96000 hz to 48000. When I tried to put it back to 96000hz they couldnt hear me anymore, why is that? I don't quite understand the whole hz thing....
@@mccaurthor concering me not being able to hear anything: I still didn't find a solution. The output is set on windows and I seleceted my headset on wavelink. But it's wireless, is that a problem?
@@williamdripspeare741 so the reason they can now hear you is that your audio gets compressed to 4800 through twitch. No the wireless headset is not a problem. I use one. Make sure your audio is routed correctly in wavelink. So for example if your Firefox is trying to push audio through like your onboard sound card it won’t come through. Open wave link and make sure the audio bars are moving while the sound is playing if they aren’t it means that source is not added correctly. If they are moving but you still can’t hear it try restarting your headset and pc.
im still having issues my mic is picking everything up like the typing breathing and going straight to my headphones had the mic for awhile and it just started doing it

how did you get your party chat with your headset and the wave link 3? If you are using an elgato if not then your probably screen recording is my guess?

They would have to set it up themselves on their end. Or if you’re using discord just have them turn their threshold up under their voice settings.
@@mccaurthor so your video shows how to set it up for stream. Say for instance game chat itself on COD. My fan is blowing in my mic in my game chat but not on my stream.
@@necco.1 so in COD you have the same option to adjust your threshold. I’d turn that up a little and it will stop hot micing. I believe I have mine set to around 3
my wave link channels do not work ex: i can not turn down just the browser volume from my stream deck the master volume controls everything

Don't know if this has been asked already but it looks like you're using a wireless headset with your wave 3 if you are did you or are you experiencing any sort of audio lag? I heard in a couple reviews that when using a wireless headset that cant plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack that you will experience a lag and just wanted to know how bad it is thanks in advanced if you reply ! That seems to be a common issue. I think it’s because they have a mixer of their own. And I don’t think they will work with wave link. I’m really debating buying a pair to try to figure it out for you guys!

Had mine for about 5 days and im seriously not liking it. Do you find every time you reset your pc the settings get reset and you have to do everything all over again?
No I don’t have that problem. I even unplug mine sometimes, when my wife streams and I’m just playing with her. And I plug it in and have no problems. I’m sorry you’re having issues my dude.
I have noticed with mine, that the button/dial on the mic when it is set to PC/Mic mix will basically cause no sounds to play when I come back to the system after it has hibernated. The solution is terribly simple, after I spent half an hour tinkering and fighting with it; just turn the dial back and forth. The sound came back, I adjusted the level and boom, off and running.
My issue is my gameplay is so bad and distorted on the stream I play Ps5 and plug the chat link up to my controller. This ish is confusing

Are you still using the Wave 3? I swear, everytime I start a stream, I'm having issues. I firmly believe that this is a fantastic mic, and it's all user error.
Yes I am still using it!! This mic has been great but also super frustrating at first!
After switching to Wave Link software, now I'm facing audio delay, why is that? when I shoot in r6 siege, I hear the bullet after like half a second.

Great video. Do you know if there is a way to link the wave 3 with wave link to include in game chat with an Xbox series x? Or maybe any other viewer that watches this has figured it out. I’m thinking it may work with the Xbox companion app on my pc. But maybe that’s just party chat and not in game chat. Anyway, if you have an idea or can help, that would be great. I use the Astro A40 mixamp TR gen 4. Right now I chat through headset mic but the wave 3 would sound much better.
I got a question what gain did you set your at I had mine at 30% but it was kinda low so I moved it to 40%
GhOsTs GeNeRaL if it sounds better at 40% than you’re good. Everybody’s set up is different, I keep my mic pretty close to my face so that’s why I have mine set lower. But if 40% works for you, you’re good!! Thanks for the question!

GhOsTs GeNeRaL have it set to whatever sounds good! Don’t over think it. You can use the program audacity to do some test recordings and play with different gain levels.

Honestly, I only came here just for the mic setup, but I'll sub just as a thanks because I used to have a headset mic that sounded just fine but wanted something better and got Elgato Wave 3 and with this mic it seemed like I had 2 options - raise gain and pick up my minifridge, laptop fan, and my wife's TV show in the next room behind 2 doors (not even mentioning the clicking of keyboard and buttons), OR lower the mic gain and basically have to push the mic up to my mouth in order for people to hear me, so I was almost going to make the conclusion that headset mics are better. Thanks for this!
