We all know the Metalzone is great, but how does it sound in the room?
Hello
Excellent... Austrian audio and the Lewitt plus Beyer dynamic
Sounds great.
🤘🤘🤘
Overall sounds rather dope
About 25 years ago when I started playing, my friend had a Boss MT2 Metal Zone. We always thought it sounded awesome.
The Lewitt microphone is the one that pleasantly surprises me the most in every In-The-Room video.
Was thinking the same. Have a 440dm and it's very versatile as well
Yeah the tone sounded pretty much how i would like the pedal to sound
Geez...that's a $700-$900 microphone?!!
@@dresdensinn6669 the stereo one he's using? No idea, the 440DM was priced competitively
@@dresdensinn6669 if you spend the money , anyone can sound professional.
Sadly most people trying to make videos on CZcams myself included just don't have the cash to make it sound as good as it would if you had the expensive equipment.
Imagine Ola saying "ye, not enough drive on this metalzone, need an overdrive"...
Ma omule,si tu asculti Metal? :))
Just fattens up the signal
Most likely set up as a clean boost...volume wide open, distortion/gain turned all the way down.
@@mathprodigy It‘s actually there to make the sound tighter not fatter by removing low end.
Ha! Easily. "Good one..."
I’ve used a metal zone for over a year now and have honestly had no desire to get a different distortion. Love this pedal. Once you get it dialed in thing sounds amazing!
Metalzone sounds amazing. Never understood the hate for it.
All the hate is from people who don’t know how to use it and put in front of the Amp rather than in the FX loop. Putting in front of an amp makes it sound garbage
@@trendkill3333 Metalzone works really good as a boost in the front, but other than that... yeah it sounds pretty weird and fizzy.
It's the new generation hating on it. 80's and 90's didn't have as much high gain amps and scooped mids were super popular in that era so pedals were used a lot. Also it was the most gain you could get on your little bedroom practice amp. So it was able to do what everyone wanted. It was used on Slaughter of the soul. Primus used it. tons used it in the nineties. Only in the last 15 years does everyone want the exact same carbon copy 5150 tone.
Also people have no idea how to used the parametric eq properly. So the kids never figured it out properly and when they bought an amp that had a simpler eq section they just assumed the MT-2 was crap, when it's their ignorance.
@War Zone I think it really depends on your amp to be fair. Some it works well in front and others it sounds like ass
I guess that's more evidence to suggest individuality.
I like the Lewitt in the room mic.
I concur, it's great.
Thanks! 💚
Agreed
Actually this is a brilliant illustration of the benefits of recording with a room mic. And obviously, the HUGE difference each microphone makes. Amazing video!
Metalzone was my first ever pedal. Brought me the magic of distortion for the first time, how could anyone ever hate something that can do that?! In all seriousness though, I think that sounds great, you hit the nail on the head. if you know how to dial it in properly and not go crazy with the settings, it can sound great.
IN THE ROOM is the best series on the channel! more please, most of us bedroom players dont care that much about how shit sounds recorded and mixed.
Idk man my amplifier isnt huge so recording and practice is the only thing I can use it for.
I prefer will it chug and rig of the week
I love the dime slime/solar crossover, if that's what it's supposed to be
Slowly we rot edition perhaps??
In another video he actually said that is exactly where the inspiration is from, I love it too! There isn't enough green in guitar colors IMHO.
I like yo pfp
Machine Head
Sounds pretty badass to me I'm still using mine from the 90s with a boss equalizer and I am getting an even heavier tone
I have the same combo, I love it
same, except a dod fx 40-b
Metal Zone is my favorite pedal ever. I've never really done much recording so I'm really surprised at just how much different those mics all sound, but I have to say that the Lewitt was by far the best sounding. Great vid Ola!
It blows minds! Would like to see and hear more of this series! Keep it going!
Hell yeah! meeting in an hour and Ola uploads a video, love to see it! Perfect entertainment before a couple hours of monotone work.
THIS is soooo long over due.
Thank you vey much for doing the 'In The Room' series.
Please keep it up.
That color is so Dime! Great job Ola!
BADASS guitar. Love that color! Ola-slime
Your artist geisha skills liked a couple of my Instagram videos this morning and it really gave me a boost of motivation to keep playing. I grew up playing a metal zone and it was life for all of us. I started playing again a few months ago because of your videos. I’ll have my solar soon!
Is it just me, or did he just accidentally nail Chuck Schuldiners tone with the ts9 through a metal zone?? Sounds very Symbolic/The Sound of Perseverance to me🤔
in what part of the video?
@@thepaleone6960 right after he plugs in the ts9 into the signal chain and plays that first riff
yeahhh dude, that tone was awesome!
So nice to hear old Machine Head.
Chucks tone was from a valvestate amp.
Oh very nice scene setup with the doors open behind! Looks beautiful!
I've loved the metalzone since the 90's,was my first pedal as a teenager.
Gotta love the Metalzone. Great sound as always 💚
Thank you for playing The Haunted's Trespass on 6:30. "EVH 5150 50W - The Haunted Trespass Play through" is my favourite video of yours)
I love the “room mic” setup because it doesn’t leave you with “expectations”
Such an underrated pedal. A damn monster when dialed in good!!
Amazing "mics" job 😉 top quality production! 🤟 Constantly improved skills 👍
Such pleasant relaxing sounds
I love that E1.6FRLB. Maybe one day I will get one.
Im currently working and saving for one too. 😊
O have one bro .. is fucking awesome
Awesome, as always. Had an Metal Zone, a while back. Hated it direct, but absolutely loved it in the effects loop. One of a handful of pedal distortions that actually sounds better through the loop. Lent it to a friend, who I've not heard from in ages, but, I'm loving my XXX II through good Celestions, just as much. I'm definitely adding another one to my pedal board, which will NOT be lent out. Lol. Thanx, again, Ola. Keep on Chuggin'.
There isn't a specific fav mic but
I like the blended up sound
the first boss metalzone video you made had me wanting one so i went out and got it and im loving it lol
I bought a metal zone because of your first video along with a Marshall dsl-1. I DO use it in front of the amp with the gain up around a quarter and in that amp it works like a normal distortion pedal would.
Love the content keep it up Ola!
Ps. Still get chills when I hear trespass.
The single mics were a little disorienting, but the blended mics sounded really good and you can hear the full range of frequencies that the amp is putting out. Great idea.
I use one as an EQ and it works great, never use the distortion because I overuse it! But I was inspired to start using my first generation metal zone (yes I'm that old) after your excellent video on using it in the fx loop. Long time lurker, first time commenter!
Very good as usual! Keep going Ola! Greating from Saint-petersburg!
I really liked the Lewitt and also All mic's before tube screamer
Sounds awesome Ola. Can never go wrong with Neuman Mics for micing a cabinet. My producer uses a Neuman and a Mic that looks like an Audix Mic, but it actually has no name on it, for micing cabs in his studio, they sound killer together. All mics combined sounded perfect and spot on. Awesome Video Ola!! Take care man!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
The first video of yours that popped into my news feed was your first Metal Zone video. I've been watching ever since, 2 years now. I've had a Metal Zone for 14 years. I never knew it was a shitty pedal until I got the internet. I always loved the thing
Sick Pedal Sick Guitar Sick Amp and a SICK GUITARIST (As always) thanks. for making my morning! 🤘
Love your shirt, Ola!
Never has a sweet little MT-2w seen so much care and mic love. 🤙🏼
That LEWITT mic holy shit it catches the room sound and brings out the oomph boost in that guitar tone, the Austrian mic captures some type of crisp trebel tones..overall sounds insane
Awesome sounds ... good 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ola great review I have the petal and this is what it would sound like if you were in. The room with someone using it. Good job man
Damn that OC18 sounds awesome, and the Lewitt too.
i love this series .. more in the room please ..
Honestly, I'm convinced that your picking technique makes everything sound good.
That LCT640 room mic provides a prefect representation of “in the room.”
love the vid Ola!! The mic i i liked most, in this vid, is the Lewitt LCT640!!
Lewitt mic sounds really good
You can never go wrong with BOSS METALZONE!
Also my V1.6RBOP Artist LTD just shipped, such a good lunch break.
Sounded great to me once tweaked!
Great job. I personally like the Austrian Audio and a close second would be the mic used for the vocals. Needing a mic so this video gave me a few to check out. Thanks
That Lewitt mic got me like🤤🤤🤤🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love my metal zone original pedal!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
5:36 Best Rob impression ever. Ok, it's the only one exists but still...
Cool video Ola!!!
great tone on machinehead’s davidian! perfect fit
The sm58 and the tlm 102 sound real good but the OC 18 WOW that sounds the best. Metal zone never dissapoints.
DAYAM!!! That Lewit LTC 640 Sounds amazing !!!
All mics blended sounded really really good, you should use it more often throughout the video !
Awesome sound
The Metal Zone is such a strong pedal. It's the only one I use for distortion. Owned it for 12 years.
Great stuff, Ola.
God! I love the Austrian Audio OC18
This microphone sounds amazing
That tone was gnarly while playing Davidian!!!
Wonderful!
0:55 I love the sound of the "aaaarghh" Microphone in the room, love the name of it more 😂
Or much rather, "Why microphones matter more than tonewood"
Tonewood is by far one of the more retarded concepts relative to electric guitars that I've heard of. People who actually bother with it, and think it's gonna noticeably change how they sound (in a mix or live, doesn't really matter) are pedantic morons.
@Gabriel M. Chávez I mean, you'll maybe notice it if you play by yourself and closely analyze and compare your own recordings, but if you're in a full studio mix, or even a live performance, literally noones gonna know or care in the slightest if your guitar is made of mahogany or fuckin' plastic (exaggerating, but you get the point).
don't forget the cabs too brotha
@@ilikepotatoes1345 Only thing it really changes is the sustainability. Other than that not so much I saw a guy make a concrete guitar. If you close your eyes it would sound like any other
Tonewood is so freaking stupid thing. And there is people who actually believe in this.
Soo...the best tones I here in this chanel!💪
InnnnnDahRoom!! That guitar is sick, sir... SICK!!
I never realised how good the metal zone actually is until Ola did the first video where he plugged it straight into a poweramp. But with the TS9 running through it I'm actually kinda staggered by it. It sounds unreal to me.
"And today, I'm gonna try out the Metal Zone!
...
... 'cause I need views."
Gotta admire the honesty right there!!! Hahahahahaha
Nice guitar Ola!
Were those lyrics in Swedish? That was totally random and hilarious. Nice job! I love how it takes you like 5 seconds to get the metal tone you want out of pretty much any pedal. Never saw a pedal fail yet.
Ola rocks on any gear!
It’s like you were thinking about me when you made this hahah
Awesome video
Great vid! I really liked the Austrian Audio OC18, myself. I'd love to hear that one and the room mic together.
I love this series
Sounds awesome.
I use that pedal , with overdrive love the harmonics that come even unexpectedly, for lead I switch to hotone djent distortion with delay and reverb
Jesssssss....us when the blend Mic Sound coming ...amazing🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Funny, I was just jamming with my MetalZone using my Jackson Strat into my Boss Nextone when you uploaded this. At 5 AM. The neighbors probably hate me!
I'm with Ola on the MT-2. You just have to know how to use it. It's touchy, but once you dial it in, it kills. I still have mine from the late 90s.
Me: Ola what's your favorite mic?
Ola: Yes!
That tone with the Austrian Audio OC18 at 6:11 sounds sick, pretty thrash tho!.
Next up should be the DOD Grunge Pedal straight into the interface, in the room
My first pedal was the early version I liked the gain but it was so tingy and to much highend then I got the metal zone
Guitarrrrrrrr
@@jennyk9601 That is what life is about.
I'd rather hear an "in the room" of Ola's bathroom the morning after beer and taco-night than a DOD grunge pedal.
They dont make those anymore and they're expensive as fuck
Do love the sound of that
Always sounds brutal ola.
Sounds good! Try tubescreamer into that fortin poweramp maybe with active pickups : D
Sounds amazing
It's my favourite booster in the Katana for sure.
Well with all the mics on it sounds super good. I’ve always loved my metal zone,it’s a good thing. There are better distortion pedals out there at higher prices but if you’re just starting out or intermediate you could do a lot worse than to procure one. 🔥🤘🔥
I love that riff @ 6:34!!!
sounds good with the ts9 in front
sounds awesome, my First video on my channel is recorded through my amp's overdrive, then out from the loop to the Metal Zone MT-2 and back in and i am using the webcam on top of the amp to record. been using the Metal Zone in the Loop for at least 10 years now and i always wondered why people hated it... i just assumed people would have plugged it in the loop as well...
I run the waza craft metal zone at the beginning of my loop to a compressor sustainer to a ibanez ts-9 to a 7 band eq all running through the loop in the noise gate.. It's like I have the awesome eq of the metal zone but kind of that tube screamer sound.
Its just brutal with the compressor as well even with the gain cranked on the tube screamer I get a clean sound then jack it with metal zone when I want distortion and hit the eq for a boost with the leads. I am absolutely loving it and am finally completely satisfied with my tone.
Nicccccce. My rigs similar in that I've got a Line 6 Uber Metal in the fx return of my Peavey Renown 400 thats extended to an HH 215BL then using a Mosky klone as a boost, sounds sweet!!
One of my favourite pedal of all time,
No matter what others talk about it
Sounds impressive ola \m/
