#19. Using Counterpoint in Painting

I experiment with using counterpoint in three paintings to further develop my visual language for the Hidden Worlds theme.
One painting is a reworked acrylic, which I did on my studio. I focused on creating depth by adding layers, using complementary colours and opposing brushstrokes.
The next two paintings were done in watercolour ink and paint at the lake en plein air. In the first of these I played with layers and values to create depth while in the second I painted over a pre-drawn structure, which I hoped would suggest ‘Hidden Worlds’ in the background. This painting is not yet finished.
In the end, I think it was a useful exercise that gave me ideas to use in the future.
