    Focal me, that is a tidy kit. For better quality sound I would run RCA's. twin phono to twin phono instead of the high level speaker input when using an aftermarket radio. You paid extra for an aftermarket radio, might as well get the most from it. Could even get 2 of the kits ! sub under each seat and rear fill. Many aftermarket headunits have 4 RCA out and built in digital crossovers to improve the sound even further. Small Left and Right subs can be crossed higher even 110HZ instead of 80HZ to pull more bass out of the doors (which rattle) and under the seats (which don't).

    I put focal door speakers for my M135i F20. It’s good but with the amp on it it seems too powerful the speakers already kind of rattling. There’s something about a fresh Harman Kardon system thats better its just a nice clean deep bass. The songs I listen to have very deep bass (Plug, Pluggnb type music) feel like nothing will hack it apart from installing a sub.

      It's really not. Doors are shite, they rattle with bass. A small in cabin sub means you can dial out bass 80Hz and below from the doors and send it to the sub. Small subs better integrate with door speakers. For deep bass he can always add a big 12" later. It will compliment it.

    • @RustLocker

    Just ordered this setup on the advice of my local installer for a VW T6. Had my reservations as was previously looking at Kicker HS10 active sub and JL C2 component speakers running off my Kenwood 8020 head unit. Trying to work out if I made right choice of going with this Focal setup, the amp for the sub is seems lot less power, although I will get amp power to the front speakers...

    • @RustLocker
      @RustLocker  Před 3 lety

      I used the sub to supply power to crossovers using the harness, I used the stock speaker wires as inputs to the crossovers ( because with the supplied harness, the head unit speaker outputs are unaffected).

    • @RustLocker

      Yes, you can, those wires go into the input on crossovers and then your speakers are connected to outputs on the crossover. Hope that makes sense.

    You've drilled a hole through your bulkhead to pass the power cable through. You made a quick mention about a grommet not being used because the hole size was small and the cable wouldn't move around much. My blood ran cold when I saw that. You are heading for a fire and possible destruction of your car. That wire is in contact with a sharp-edged thin metal sheet which WILL cut in to it due to vibration and movement over the coming months. No question. No doubt. There didn't appear to be a fuse in close proximity to the battery either to give you some measure of protection when that hole cuts in to the wire and shorts out. High on your list of jobs to do is to get that wire out, make the hole bigger and fit a suitable sized grommet. Or any other bodge that keeps the wire off the metal and stops it chafing. And fit a fuse near to the battery end. Seriously. Do it. From a mechanical engineer. Not a paranoid electrical engineer.

    • @RustLocker
      @RustLocker  Před 3 lety +4

      It’s ok mate, you can sleep easy, there is a fuse on the power wire, within the first few inches from the battery. (You can see it in the video)
      I did also fill the gap with silicone, it’s all safe.
      Goods points though! that’s some important safety advice.

    • @RustLocker
      @RustLocker  Před 3 lety +2

      I call them mids, as they aren’t purely for low end bass like a subwoofer, I suppose the accurate description would be a mid range woofer? Anyway the speakers will be perfectly good though even without the under seat sub. You’ll get all the frequencies needed for great sound, just not as loud as with the sub/amp. You made a good purchase.
