    Carl Jackson is the emperor of class acts. Plays a fair fiddle, banjo and guitar too. : - ]
    I could watch him play all day every day.

    I am proud to say that Carl and I are from the same small town, Louisville (not Louieville), Mississippi. What a class act, very humble guy who has never forgotten his roots! We love Carl!

    When I was fifteen, I heard the album 'Carl Jackson Banjo Player" which featured Carl and backed up by Glen Campbell...back then there was virtually no literature, tapes, nothing on how to learn to play the 5 string banjo..so i started learning how to play banjo by slowing Carl's record down to half speed, he was a chromatic style player which was very advanced...and this was my teacher until the Earl Scruggs book and record came out...to this day Carl Jackson in my opinion is addition to being a fantastic flat picker on the six string, he is one of the best five string banjo players in the world, and yet virtually this unknown except by banjo players...been a fan my entire life, thank you Carl, loved the video you did with Glenn's daughter playing Gentle on my Mind...Glen Campbell most don't know was the hero and teacher for some of the most well known guitar players in the world...he will be missed

    This video and story was very special. Glen has been a legend ever since he started at 15 yrs old (I think that was the age he struck out on his own) I absolutely love all the stories his friends tell and his co workers. He surely was well loved as he always has been. Love him!! Thanks for sharing this video!

    I can't think of any other musician that must be considered among the best pop singers of all time, and also a world-class guitarist.

    Carl , that's a great story and I'm glad you told it . I'v e always wondered how you met up with Glen. I saw Glen in Houston in 1973 at the round theater. We met him as he was coming into the theater. You were carrying two instruments. I thought what a lucky guy. Glen is one of a kind. Why did Larry want to leave? Boy that was a career mistake.

    Carl played with Jimmy Goudreau? I love that guy! Huge fan of his work with the Seldom Scene, Chesapeake, and what he's doing now with Moondi Klein.

    +Carl Jackson: You are a story teller before God. And now you are playing your Glen with his daughter Ashley. I love you for that. -- Hans Rosenthal (A.H.R.D.)

    Good story, We usually don't get to meet our heroes. They don't even know we exist.

    What is "the claw"?

    • @jaygatsby1
      @jaygatsby1 Před 7 lety +1

      David Lehrer I'm guessing he's talking about the old time claw hammer banjo playing style. Think Ralph Stanley as compared to Earl Scruggs.

      “The Claw” is a fingerpicking knuckle-buster written by Jerry Reed. Larry McNeely actually played it on Glen’s show once.
