The rear goes much faster by putting smart on jack stands in rear, removing both rear lower shock bolts, both wheels. Place a porto power on top of the bearing carrier and next to the upper shock mount, pump to push the Dedion bar down and the spring falls out. Replace top and bottom bushing on new spring, replace spring and let pressure off of the porto power. Repeat for other side, replace wheels and shock bolts. Done run literally in 15 minutes.
The Carlsson springs are in, but the stock car looks like it was a bit lower than yours on springs. Now mine looks even lower with the new springs, but it's definitely riding rougher than expected. My e38 on coilovers is smoother than this little thing. I'm going to give it some time to settle and then make the decision to stay with the current Carlsson setup or go back to stock springs.
Hi mate, I was thinking of lowering my smart car. You mentioned the ride was rough. Would you not recommend it. I’m also looking at coil overs which might be better.
So I just tried to pop in the rear springs but noticed that the spring compressor tool (from Harbor Freight as well) was a bit too long. It looks like you cut yours? Is that the case? If so, did that clear the space needed to tighten them down?

There are 2 models: one for coupe and one for convertible (the convertible Smart weighs more, and needs different springs). You can use the H&R website to find the right model before buying on Ebay.
Nice easy to follow tutorial and good looking rims. It would have been good to see the location of the jacking points and what type of jack you used.

Hi what was the ride like after you lowered your smart ? Thinking of lowering my brabus fortwo but I dont want to ruin the ride.
I lowered mine and am thinking of raising it back up. Rides rough.

What brand springs do you have?
Did they diminish the ride quality by a lot? I like how comfortable the OEM springs/struts are, but don't like the height.
Epo Yes, they unfortunately do :-( In addition I have low profile 17” wheels and tires, so it’s real hard now
Hi did you have to remove the windscreen wiper assembly as I’ve noticed it covers the top bolts
roderz01 No, you can get them without removing the assembly. It’s a tight fiddle, but possible. I believe it’s either a 10mm or 13mm wrench you need.

Epo yep! I had to cut the compressor tool! It worked fine once done.
hello, what are the references and sizes of these springs please? thank you
Can you please tell me what are the specs of the wheels?
Hi! can you tell where did you buy this blue springs? link...
Paulo Pinto on Ebay!
Jacob Green do you have the link/name of the seller? I try to find ones like that in blue but I just find in red or black!
