  • In today’s episode we upgrade the BulletPoint Mounting Solution in our Jeep Wrangler 4Xe with the Bulletpoint MagSafe Compatible Wireless Phone Charger. We purchased this new mount out of own pocket so we could provide an honest biased review to our users. This is a simple upgrade to install that gives you wireless charging and utilizes the magnetic feature of the newer series iPhones. You can pop your phone on and off the mount easily without wrestling with spring clamped mounts or glueing attachments to your phone. The magnetic mount holds strong, but is it strong enough? Watch and find out!

    Would you recommend getting this version or the motorized cradle one? Wondering if it will stay put while off-roading. Thanks for the video

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  Před 7 měsíci

      I haven’t any personal experience with the motorized one, but I have had both magnetic mounts. They haven’t been an issue for me yet. Stick very firmly, even more so if you use the provided phone sticker.

    Thanks for making the time to review. How does the phone stick to the mount? Did the metal rings come with the mount, or do you have a special case?

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  Před 6 měsíci

      The unit comes with metal rings to use. I didn’t use them. I have a magback phone case that is already magnetic and it works very well. My phone hasn’t fallen off yet.

      Ok, I'm being a pain, I know. But it also states for iPhone 12 and above. Can the metal rings be attached to an Android and still work? Was wondering if you tested.

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  Před 6 měsíci

      @@johnwsupple1 LOL! No worries! The magnetic rings are attached via adhesive. You could put them on anything. However, if your phone is not equipped with the technology to use magback style charging like this, it will not charge. I think iPhone 11 and older aren’t capable of charging this way. I didn’t do any android testing as I have got an android. Sorry!
      Best luck with your purchase! I recommend you talk to Bulletpoint direct so you aren’t disappointed in your expectations if/when you buy.

    I'm curious as to any other brands you may have tried and why you chose those one over any others. Thanks!

      I did look at some reviews briefly, but in my case the previous experience using Bullet Point Mounting solutions and being very happy with the product played a big part in why I had chosen to also install this system in the 4Xe. I have had no issues with it at all. I used it at Jeep Jam to do filming there and it worked flawlessly. Not a single phone drop or mounting issue. I was able to position the phone right where I wanted it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Have you done any off-roading? I’m wondering if a decent bounce will cause this to come off the magnet.

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Plenty. It holds well. I was skeptical about it too but pleasantly surprised by it. It hasn’t dropped my phone once yet.

    Since it's plugged in and charging will Apple Car Play work, my jeep has car play but not wireless?

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  Před 2 měsíci +1

      No, you still need a wireless dongle to make that work. I did a review Carlinkit 2Air Wireless CarPlay Install and Review in the Jeep 4Xe
      czcams.com/video/VEFQsW5rYl4/video.html on a device that worked well for me in my 4Xe.

    Bulletpoint states: "...the power supply must be Quick Charge-enabled. The port or adaptor that the charging cable is plugged into must be QC2.0 or QC3.0 enabled."
    My ride is a 2021 JT Mojave with a "Type C USB port", but my owner's manual doesn't specify it being QC (quick charge) 2.0 or 3.0. When I attempt installing the phone to the phone charger, the magnet holds the iPhone just fine, but I'm only getting momentary bursts of charge. The phone is not steadily charging. Not sure if I have a bad product (just arrived yesterday), or if maybe my JT power port doesn't meet the specs above. Suggestions?

    • @QuickShifts
      @QuickShifts  Před 4 měsíci

      It worked fine in my JT Rubicon. It was a 2020. You might have got a bad unit. I would contact Bulletpoint and see if they can help out.

    • @larryb7047
      @larryb7047 Před 4 měsíci

      Bulletpoint's response was that my USB ports may not be QC2.0 or QC3.0 enabled. The JT owner's manual does not address the QC spec. I'm unsure, other than contacting MOPAR/Jeep, how to verify the quick charge capability of my JT ports.

      @@larryb7047 sorry I am not of any help here. I do not know. I suggest you try it on a known good plug and see if it does the same thing. Try it in another vehicle or with a wall plug.
