I work at a very popular theme park (won't say, but I bet you can guess which one). I encounter tens of thousands of new strangers daily, all wearing different clothes. As someone who loves to observe fashion, it is absolutely fascinating to see trends unfold as the year rolls by.
The most popular footwear are sambas, dunks, birkenstocks (mostly white people), crocs, and doc martens. But they all pale in comparison to vans and converse army, they're the shoes of the people.
Baggy pants. Gen Z LOVE baggy. But you'd be surprised just how many people still rock skinny or slim jeans. It VASTLY outweighs the baggy crowd, really makes you question tiktok's influence on real life.
FOG essentials. I'm not joking, it's still a thing. Carhartt. Still a thing. Gaudy luxury brand logos like balenciaga/gucci/versace. Still a thing amongst boomers and elder Millenials. Yeezy's. Still a thing.
I guess the point of my comment is that fashion trends last WAY longer than tiktok tries to sell you. People buy into trends, but they stick with their purchase for a lot longer than what you might think. The meta changes, but working class people like you and me cling to what we buy, form sentimental bonds with the clothes we wear.
hard agree!! If i stay on 'the internet' for too long I start to think everyone wears the same stuff, but there's a huge difference with actual practical real life. and a lot of people really don't give a crap about trends and have never stopped wearing skinny jeans. not everyone is on socials 24/7, which is actually really refreshing. people who are interested in fashion are nerds themselves who get really judgemental about clothes, but they're also just personal style and practical. I really like figuring out what I like throughout the years regardless of trends, I feel like personal style is way more timeless anyway. Reminds me of rewatching Skins gen 1 and seeing all the 'trendy' outfits that Michelle was wearing, which look very bad now, versus the super personal vintage style of Cassie, which I still love.
@@Anne_fka_XATM038xyeah I was wearing an outfit at work a few weeks ago, that to me seemed very average. It’s a typical baggy jeans small tshirt combo you see everywhere on TikTok. However a customer was surprised by the outfit and said I looked like someone going on a 90s euro trip. Just goes to show how much tik tok changes your perception.
Thank you for pointing out how different online fashion is to actually real life fashion.
The word “trend” totally lost its sense since we’ve been using it before internet but haven’t repurposed its meaning.
Spot on about people mainly wearing skinny/slim pants. Slim/tailored fit pants especially are 100% timeless. I don't care which way to trend cycle shifts with pants. They will always be my default. The only time I wear slightly baggy pants is if they are corduroy's because they look the best with some stacking. The only time I see very wide fitting pants are with Gen-z and they usually have Sambas, Apple Headphones and every other trendy item with their fit. Not judging, but it's clear they don't have a personal style, but that takes time to develop.
my clearly important opinion on this “skinny” jean take is that the fashion community has gotten used to such loose fitting pants and a classic straight cut is going to be viewed as “skinny”
I agree because I have had to explain to my mom the difference
it will start with slimmer fitting and get progressively more out of control until people get sick of it and then go back to progressively wider cuts and the cycle contonues
every time i hear opiumcore it takes a year off my life
goth is not '' emo ''
and it is our old cultures styles
with a new name
Just like they put '' eboy '' and '' egirl ''
On our Cultural Heritage
at the very least call it Opium, 2024 we gotta stop adding “core” to words
In Spain skinny jeans are fairly popular in the general public tho, ever since I started wearing baggier pants I’ve never been able to wear skinny jeans again they are so uncomfortable
I knowww 😭 and don’t get me wrong: I don’t _hate_ skinny // slim jeans but wider pants are much more comfy IMO
now felt this !! here in my country( argentina ) r fairly popular too & u can see ppl still wear em way too often.
I disagree about the skinny jeans tbh. A lot of non-fashion normies are still very much wearing more fitted pants and don't think the pendulum swings the other way until they start going baggier
The amount of “trends” that have come and gone since 2020 is insane. Have we become that bored that we go through a new phase or trend every few months? I’m glad my style doesn’t change depending on trends, I wear what I like and dress well.
You are styled like how I grew UP
I bet you think it is a new Style
yeahhhh I don’t like it. It’s definitely tiktok. We watch so much on the daily so the trends feel overdone because everyone on our fyp is wearing them. But in real life we’ve hardly seen anyone wear it. Like the bows! I don’t think I’ve seen a single girl irl wear ing them 😭😭
Skinny jeans will return in the way that baggy pants have returned from the 00's. It will have its own flair and I'm excited to see what it is. Also, like another commenter pointed out, skinny jeans and joggers never left and outside of online fashion spaces like here and tiktok, a majority of people are still rocking them.
at least in my smallish metro area, skinny jeans are the primary wear of the 10-30 year old range. I see it all the time online with Hedi boys and raw denim, I would say skinny jeans "coming back" is a bad take, it never left and I don't see baggy/wide pants and denim leaving
Ive seen a lot more people just at casual places like trader joes or out and about in wider fitting pants, especially younger people. I expect this group will continue to wear a similar fit as they get older the next few years to the point that it's no longer a fresh or "young" style. At which point, laggards will eventually convert and it just makes sense for trend seekers to want something different, i.e. slimmer cuts.
Late 2000's fashion is something I can really see making a comeback. Not necessarily ultra skinny jeans like the skater type we all saw during the 2010's but the kind of clothes you'd see on a Skins episode.
i think opium core will remain to have its small niche, but i do think all black will be a thing. a lot of people are dressing in all black.
tbh black is a basic color & i think theres alr hundreds of ppl tht dress mostly w black. so i wouldnt say its goin to become a thing bc it alr is a thing !
it's a representation of where we are in the world. example; israel and palestine, the masses in the U.S are extremely unhappy with just about everything etc etc
This could only work in cold places. I wish I could dress like that but I'd simply die from overheating
But ppl have been doing that for decades because it’s always stylish and chic lol
I just hopped on the wider pants trend just this month and I'm really liking it so far. don't see myself going back to skinny jeans
One thing I’ve learned over the years is to hold onto the fashions I think I’ve “moved on” from; storing things like skinny jeans, band t-shirts, clothes in different sizes… Because I’ve scoured eBay for so many pieces I either had as a kid or in my younger days that I know there’s a good chance I’ll eventually come back around and love digging my old stuff out of the attic. Point is, if skinny jeans come back and I adopt that look, I’ve got myself covered.
Hi, old person here to comment, saved my 70' clothes when I was in my 20's, in the attic, still there, my 47 yr old took my platform shoes ( couple dozen in box's) sold them on ebay for $1,000. Save what you can, for the future, next sale will be the Time Magazines, fashion mags, Mad Magazine etc. many more goodie's in the Attic😊.
hearing about the tiktok bow discourse from various people is so funny to me since I'm not on the platform. like this conversation is not happening outside of fashion tiktok and yet the discussion gets so heated
I feel like the bow trend has turned from something cute to something overused and it will come to an end soon. I wish it hadn't turned into a trend so fast because I didn't even get the chance to try it
same😭😭 where was i when it started?? like how is it just now i've started seeing it, even online?????
you can still try it? sandy liang is not going anywhere, the clothing will still be available
I don’t mean to state the obvious but you could go to Michaels or a craft store and get some ribbon
@@boredrat2573seriously, the soul-giving life that making your own garments/trinkets is immense and immeasurable
You do know you can still wear whatever you want even tho it’s not a stupid online trend right? God lmao you ppl
I think hunting gear with southwestern accents will become popular, smalls pops of bright orange, Aztec print, embroided jean back pockets, embroided trucker hats
As I've gotten older, I'm just not into squeezing into skinny jeans anymore. They start feeling like a pain to wear all day. Ever since 2019, with the pandemic and all, I've switched to roomier pants. Let's be real our bodies aren't what they used to be in our teenage years.
i think high end suit culture is gonna come back, especially with the rise of people getting tailoring and so many suits being available at thrifts
people will always have their favorites, but switching between different fits of pants in order to achieve different silhouettes is the way to go
Not sure how to feel on the AI into fashion, BUT the customized headphones as an accessory did make ppl that much closer to lookin like jet set radio characters and I think that's a good step for humankind. Also Is that a spirited away screen saver!? Or has my backgrounds video just made my mind mush lol
Hi ! Im a French subscriber don’t mind my English… Some of my trend predictions and wishes for 2024
- Carrot pants
- Chino pants
- Balloon pants
- Tartan, leopard and vichy print (I wish)
- Stripes !!
- The aviator look (the Raybans , bomber and leather) maybe old school Schotts
- Mid skirts
- Polo and shirt
- Scarf like le carré de Hermes
- Satchel and brief case idk if it’s the right traduction
- Berets
I’m not visualising feathers but why not
Thank you for your work I love your videos, gives a lot of inspirations and ideas !
i like these ones but where im from, carrot pants, chino pants have been in style in the pest few years, even in the late 2010s. actuallc i would love if vichy print would make a return. also quite curious how ppl would style the aviator look in 2024 so as not to look like smth in 2010s haha
I agree with most of those hot takes, I just hope no skinny pants. I honestly think they don’t look good. Great vid 😊
I agree, no body shaming but skinny jeans don't look good on heavier set people. They look alright on more fit people but honestly they gotta go 😭
It's too early for skinny jeans to come back, I'd give it another decade before it's a trend again.
In 2024, design elements from the Gilded Age will be reinterpreted for a modern take. Like how regency era dresses became popular after Bridgerton. I could see this for both menswear and womenswear. Love your videos!
I think old tech will be huge in 2024 especially with the rise of record players and camcorders etc. I think the big one will be music tech tho like hand held cassette players, I could also see companies like apple with there new stuff coming out putting retro audio options on there headphone and AirPods
I have a Bluetooth set of 90s style headphones I think they're great for many reasons but I think at some point it'll be a trend as people crave "vintage" tech
I can definitely envision what you're saying! I've thought before of old cassette players making a comeback sometime. Camcorders have gotten really popular lately so old ways of playing music, such as handheld tape players, could really make a comeback too.
Fashion passes me by. I've worn slim fit jeans since the 80s and will continue to do so. Trainers will always be worn by me. Currently wearing adidas italias from the late 60s.
Your so well spoken I love your videos and I’m so inspired getting to see someone who isn’t “tumbling” through trend cycles but someone who actually cares about the fashion and the communities we create getting to showcase uniqueness
You should do a video on alternative outfits for people to wear for their wedding. I feel like I can’t find good info on that.
Please make a part 2!!! Love your commentary on fashion ❤
I loved fitted but the minute I opened my horizons to more of a loose it’s hard to go back unless it’s for a special occasion. Church/date/work etc loose is here to stay 😎
all i can & will use as “skinny jeans” is straight jeans 😭 or mom jeans. when it comes to the other “trends” opiumcore i see it more as a streetystyle dark kind of style imo & i’d love to see it more. & abt the other trends the sambas i knew that they were goin to soon fall off so that’s why i never hopped on the trend. PLS DO A PART 2 OMG ! im so into this
thank you for the updates
Never letting my skinnies go!!!!!!!!!
Love your videos!!
“Bringing peace love and positivity to your door, all 2024”
I’ve been wearing feathers in my hair for a couple years now, and, living in west Texas, it was a very popular trend when I was a little girl. I would love to see other interpretations of this accessory and addition to feathers in fashion.
Sharing Peace, Love and More in 2024
pushing love & much more, in 2024
maybe not 2024, and maybe not even 2025, but the return of the nike cortez is inevitable due to its huge historic influence in west coast 90s fashion. maybe if we see a shift away from the east coast influence in fashion then cortez’s will become huge and the brand corteiz that made their debut on the air max 95 this year gets their own cortez x corteiz
A lot of sneaker companies cycle their shoes (e.g. Nike cycling in the Blazers, Adidas cycling Stan Smiths -> Superstar -> Sambas again) to keep them fresh. A lot of hype in fashion is honestly manufactured
@@remixisthisfacts if you noticed you don’t see Cortez like you use to but now they tryna bring them back like the OG Forrest Gump Cortez are reselling like crazy them use to be famous footwear shoe carnival type shoe
I agree with the samba but it’s also how fast we go through trends usually a trend would last 3 plus years
@@lamargettens2370Nike released several Cortez sneakers with different color ways this year. They never go out of style in Southern California, anyway.
A part 2 please!

i believe nowadays we think that trends fade faster than in the past, but in my opinion they will last a little longer than we may think.
definitely! as someone wrote above, "regular" people will still hang on to the trendy pieces they have invested in for a while. also i think fashion content has blowed up a lot online recently, and people are so driven to be first to mention/wear new stuff that they make up new "trends" of their own. trends have never been messier honestly haha but that's kinda fun
I looooove this type of videos, seriously I learn a lot about fashion and get ideas for myself just by watching this
i absolutely could see feathers coming into style! i remember around ~2011 hair feathers were popular. i was in about 3rd grade, and i remember having a little blue skinny feather in my hair, attached like tinsel is. now that 2010s fashion is bound to make some form of a resurgence, i think a reimagined version of feathers will absolutely make a comeback. maybe on skirts? wrapped into braids?
yes! i had this exact same thought when he brought up feathers. i think the skinny hair feathers are definitely going to come back in the next 1-2 years
my thoughts exactly. 2010's fashion was so much fun. You could get away with so much, but the outfits still made sense, unlike a lot of 2000's fits.
Oh maaaan I remember these days. The demand for hair feathers was so much that it was difficult to stock fly fishing shops with supplies. I could see it happening again.
i feel like focusing on details and accessories more will just grow stronger in 2024+ for example you see a lot of people picking out really cool and interesting patterns, materials, colours, jewelery etc but the outfits could still be not that unusual. like recently/right now you see a lot ties, bows, scarfs added to seen-before fits but it instantly makes them more just a bit more interesting
I’m never going back to slim fit
fashions at the point where people know what to do, how to put things together, suit a certain aesthetic, so i believe that people will start to play within their aesthetic boundaries. same type of silhouettes with more niche and personality. opiumcore isn’t mainstream. but the general silhouette and fit of their outfits is heavily adopted minus the black. so i think people will have this boot, loose pants, either cropped or baggy top piece, with niche jewelry and headwear. ex. colorful beanies, different materials, cool accessories, new colors in general. i think a great example is lil yatchy, brucedropemoff, kai cenat type fits but more so yatchy
peace and LOVE for 2024
I think the bow replacement might be little feathery angel wings as decor on shoes/ bags/ earrings. The individual feather added to hair pieces and necklaces was very “hip” in like 2014 (a lot of peacock feathers!) but idk if I see it coming back in the same way. PS Loving your fashion insight and forecasting - great vids :)
this is interesting!!! i work at american eagle and honestly i think i sell more skinny jeans/jeggings and mom jeans more than any other fit, and it's always weird to see the difference between online fashion and irl fashion. i haven't even touched a pair of skinny jeans since 2020 (they wouldn't fit my personal style "aesthetic" anyway) but they're still most people's go-to fit
Drew read my mind! I was just thinking, what are the possible trends for 2024
In the 80's alligator clips with feathers on leather string with beads. In you hair , on your backpack, clipped to your belt loops.
im genuienly in awe of the last one, its genius! love the way that person thinks. feathers feels very indie sleaze, indie, kate moss-y which i think is the direction is headed towards. 10/10 prediction.
You’re such a good vibes creator, unfortunately I only discovered you last year. I won’t be wearing skinny jeans for a while lol but sneakers are definitely dying out a lil bit. I love the opiumcore look but I wear a lot of black and I love carti. I might put on some black cargos today and listen to ‘Sky’ on repeat 😂
Going from the chunky structure of Dunks and 550s to something more low profile like the Samba, I wonder if we’ll see the Stan Smith silhouette come back around.
An interesting thing would be for brands to start taking the cutesy bows and taking darker spins on them
part 2 please!!!
I could picture feathers being pinned flat to lapels and bag straps, much like how you'd pin a brooch.
What is the next popular sneaker? I haven’t seen the next one. Sambas and Tim’s had a steady increase in popularity but there is nothing starting to gain traction. Thoughts?
Can you make a video of your favorite wallet or wallets you recommend? I’m looking for a good quality wallet and would like your opinion. Thank you 🙏🏽
Tbh I don’t think skinny jeans as in skinny jeans from a couple of years ago will properly come back, but maybe skinnier jeans like those low rise 2000s style ones
I can’t see skinny jeans coming back, on the other hand, more straight fits in 24
spreading peace love and more in 2024 lmao
Skinny jeans never left my wardrobe 🤌🏼
bro your face is just too captivating ✨
I live in Cleveland and as it gets colder I tend to wear less colors and focus more on shape and textures....I kind of accidentally fall into opiumcore in the winter😹
i think feathers wouldnt rly be everywhere unlike bows but rather incooporated in the fabrics. i think they would look amazing covering a basic t shirt from head to "toe" and wearing feathers like gloves or smth idk in my head they look pretty sick to me
Ive also heard feathers are gonna be big for 2024 & also bird print
I think well have a Puma breakthrough in the coming years, weve seen euro trends making waves over in the states and think Puma will regain its foothold in the markets. Silos like palermos, and suedes being simplistic, as well as puma tracksuits.
For feathers, I immediately pictured the trend of putting a feather in your hair c. 2010 :)
Thumbnail is way too funny for no reason😂😂😂
Bruh I just bought my first pair of truly baggy pants early this year, enjoyed its comfort and being trendy for once… and it’s already over lol
I think more categorized subgroups of fashion such as opium core will emerge in different aesthetic “cores”
Tecovas boots will be implemented into street wear (finna do it myself and see how it goes lol)
RASHGUARDS is going to be a trend. Similiar to soccer jerseys/ bloke core. I do Brazilian Jiujitsu and their Rashguards fit so well and sleek, while keeping functionality. Keeping you cool, warm, and easy to dry!
please tell us where u got that hat, also where is the link beanie with the orange star from?!?!:((
I could see feathers trending, but I doubt they'll have as explosive of a rise in popularity as bows did. DIY is a huge thing in fashion rn and part of the reason bows got so big is because most people wouldn't even need to buy anything to add a bow to something, and most of the time no assembly or other materials are needed aside from just tying it. Most people don't have feathers lying around, even as cheap as they are, and to do anything more than stick a feather in your hair you'd need to do annoying/permanent stuff like glue it down...but maybe it's just my personal grudge against feathers talking lol
If skinny jeans come back it’ll be a different vibe then before
Either a different cut, slim slacks, or something else we’ll see!
I think that if skinny jeans were to come back, it’s not going to be how it used to be. I see slim fit Dickies-type pants entering the mainstream, but a more drastic prediction is that skinny pants will return but with layered or stacked pants. Extra long jeans that stack near the bottom will probably see a rise.
I think Opiumcore can translate to the current Techno wave thats happening in Europe. The similarities of wearing black colourless outfits and loud accesoires, with the neo-goth vibes. It makes sense in my head. The younglings get hard for the aesthetic and their dream outfits are Rick Owens Raf Simons definately
I feel like sneakers are actually somewhat coming back in this year, 2023 was the year of boots, and while boots will still also be in I think in 2024 sneakers will become more popular, especially the converse one stars, they will come back in
love your hat
Bro has to drop a part 2
Feathers we're big in the late 90s /early 00s, I had them as motifs on tshirts and real feathers as earrings, on thong necklaces - or was that just me?!
I'd even say that sneakers would start making a comeback inside fashion circles, starting with this year, since in most not mainstream fashion circles, they've been "out of style" for a few years. Now is the moment for them to come back, probably not in the form of Jordans, or silhouettes that have been popular over the last few years, but more like something from Eytys or Y3.
Hey, somebody knows where the chapka's hat from?
Opiumcore is gonna take off in 2025 rather than this year because it’s so new. I LOVE it!!!! ❤
Like feathers. Still have some cool Goros silver feathers. Real feathers tend to be a bit too fragile for the average person. Care for feather garments is also expensive. However, I could see people switching out their bows for interesting broches. Raid your grandmas closets and local thrifts now before the rest catch on.
i think bows will fall out of style inevitably as most stuff that become over-popularized do but the thing that will take their place may be buttons as they come in such different variations and can easily be out on clothes. However, i do think it will be more of a niche thing as bows became popular due to how easy they were to put on. Perhaps lace?
The route back to skinny jeans will be an interesting one. Will it be a stark switch or a gradual transition? And if a transition, will it simply be the 2010s in reverse, with people making their way back via Carhartt double-knees > Dickies 874s > 873 Slim-Straights > chinos > skinny jeans? Or will it mimic the transition toward the mid 2000s where brands like Diesel and Levis Blue Star made jeans that were a kind of hybrid: low-rise and relatively tight in the crotch and thigh but then long in the leg and 'bootcutting out' into an almost kick-flare that broke multiple times and could accommodate the still-chunky skate sneakers of the time?
There is no “death of sneakers” - just platform soles.
I’d be nice to see something NOVEL and anything that takes us away from carrying a black, plastic rectangle everywhere.
the black plastic rectangle is the enormous boom box of the future
11:24 when it come to trainer trends, I like to skip a couple. I got dunks but I didn’t get the NB or sambas , so whatever is next, if I actually like it, I may hop on that trend. I’m glad I did that because I realise now the NB trainers I didn’t like it as much, and if I got it, it would’ve been because of the hype. I do this same thing with iPhones sometimes.
To hot take 5- oh well BC ya girl is getting her confidence back so I'm not giving up my progression to more bold and maximalism accents ! But I do see a big possibility for subtleties esp with tiktoks rise of boring ass makeup. But fr IM HERE TO SHINE I'm good to skip out on the latte or cold girl makeup and the monochrome beige & black. BUT THOSE ARE STILL GORGEOUS LOOKS!! It just took me a long time to embrace my unique style so I don't think I'll be going too much with 2024's trends.
Edit* on this note, lots of makeup girlies have been pressed at the lack of creativity in makeup so I predict a rise in more eyeshadow and eyeliner creativity and colour. I know maybe this isn't fashion necessarily - but it is like an accessory in my eyes. ALSO BOWS ARE DEFS RISING. Not sure how big they'll get but apparently there's a core featuring bows but I forgot the core name
I feel like a modern version of 2014 tumblr will reappear in 2024. I mean we’re already halfway there with doc martens 😂
Swagcore. We all gotta do that cat daddy one way or another.
Where did you buy the hat and how is it called?
I don't see skinny jeans being as popular as they once were. I think dressing for your body shape is more popular than anything right now, so skinny jeans will "come back" for people that find them flattering, and those that dislike them will definitely stick to what they like. Personal style is what's "in" lately imo.
Ikr! I'm very fit and skinny jeans just look fine on me. I could never rock the baggy style as good as some people do. Personal style is the best.
