    That's the reason why the military trains with heavy rucks so when the plate carrier is loaded down it feels like its no big deal.
    So always hike and practice caring heavy bags because you just never know when you're going to have to load out.

    • @matthealey8
      @matthealey8 Před 3 lety +5

      Training and fitness are super important and you have the right idea with being prepared to carry a heavy loadout. There are many situations, especially in the military, when you absolutely need it. That being said, there are a couple reasons why we emphasize light loadouts so much in this video. The first is for using a plate carrier in a civilian context. You don't need nearly as much gear in that case, yet people tend to fill up all available space on their kit just because it's there. We want to strongly discourage that. The second reason is even if you are able to handle a heavy loadout and fight effectively, if it's possilbe for you to have a lighter loadout, you will be even more effective than you were with the heavy loadout. More endurance, mobility, etc, regardless of fitness level.

      Trying to find a mepc owner for two questions, dis it distribute weight well? If I use a hydration pouch in the back, will it balance it well, or I'll have the front plate in my chin every time I make a move? Also, seems compact, is there room for a Juggernaut case when the placard is on?

    The size "medium" has NOTHING to do with body size. It refers to the size plate that it holds.

    • @matthealey8
      @matthealey8 Před 3 lety +6

      Errr... sort of? Plate carrier size is determined by plate size, yes. But your plate size is determined by your body size soooo...they're pretty tightly correlated lol. Also factor in that most companies don't make small plate carriers so if your body requires small plates then you need to buy a medium carrier most of the time, hence the differences between plate size and plate carrier size shown in this video.

    So what didn’t you like about the JPC? Did it not hold as tight to the body as u would have liked? I’m tryna see if I should get a jpc of a more slick carrier

    • @matthealey8
      @matthealey8 Před 3 lety +1

      Jay got rid of his JPC 1.0 because it required an adapter to use swiftclip placards. The JPC 2.0 can use placards out of the box, and overall it's a solid carrier option. I have very limited experience with it, but the only real complaint I have is the cummerbund attachment system - I prefer velcro over shock cord. You won't have any issues if you go with a JPC, it holds tightly to the body just like most other minimalist carriers on the market. I personally don't use one because it has some features that I don't need, but if you like the design and you can get your hands on one, go for it.

    • @matthealey8
      @matthealey8 Před 2 lety +3

      I've used the 5" hybrid cummerbund quite a bit and it's the most comfortable cummerbund I've found. I highly recomment it. Although in your case it will probably come down to whether or not you want to add MOLLE pouches on the hybrid or just use the built in pouches on the full elastic.

    Are the Spiritus and Defense Mechanism accessories, pouches, etc interchangeable? Good review, thanks.

    • @matthealey8
      @matthealey8 Před 3 lety +2

      No they are not. The spiritus microfight is 100% loop lined, so the inserts have hook on both sides. The defense mechanisms has loop on one side and hook on the other, like a kangaroo pouch. I think the old version of the microfight was like this (pre mk3), but the new ones are not.

    • @matthealey8
      @matthealey8 Před 3 lety +2

      You CAN put a spiritus placard on a defense mechanisms carrier, or vice versa, if that's what you meant. It's only the inserts that aren't compatible.

It would've been perfect for the marine corp's needs and the marines would love it. Instead they created this custom-made, over complicated abomination that costs at least 3x as much, weighs 2x as much, and somehow manages to be bulkier and have more pieces than the gen 2. It blows my mind every time I think about it, especially how you need to put a plate bag inside of a plate bag just to have your soft armor behind your sapi plate.
