Hi! Here I made (with help of a lot of theories I read from twitter, so creadits for all the genius up there hehe) a theory connecting the Oneus universe
    and their MVs:
In Lit, the 6 monarchs enjoy and celebrate together, but Helios (god of the sun) gets jealous and curses them, a blood curse that will turn them into vampires, and the moon turns red (this happens in RTK's Lit performance). So, in Twilight the monarchs, turned into vampires, they see that the only possibility to stay alive is to drink the blood of humans, but since Oneus love them, they will only drink the blood of the servants of Helios, who want to kill them. And in CBH they fight with the servants and save the boy, who can end the blood curse and let the sun return to normal. In the Story Film 1, Oneus locks up the souls of the Servants in the necklace. "The monarchs realized that as long as they existed together, humans could never escape the bridle of pain" so, they decide to give their souls to the necklace. And "Helios's gaze disappeared into the eternal darkness, beyond the unreachable sun."
(The necklace appear previously in Twilight, in RTK's CBH performance, the photo of the track list of Lived and the Story Film 1).
So TBONTB and Valkyrie can be considered two different endings, the decisions that the monarchs made.
In Valkyrie, they are in closed, dark places where there are rays of light that illuminate them. And they decided to get trapped inside the necklace (creadit to persynelkpop). But in TBONTB they recover the necklace where their souls are and they recover their powers (symbolized by Keonhee and the crown) and they are ready to face Helios. Plus; In Valkyrie, Leedo has wings, and in TBONTB we can see Leedo's back as if they had been ripped off (Helios was the culprit in taking away his powers).
So yeah .... if this makes sense great, but if not that's okey haha this storyline is complex as hell hahaha. Trying my best to connect the dots

    • @yolandamoreirarodriguez1505
      @yolandamoreirarodriguez1505 Před 4 lety +10

Impressive explanation, I do not know if RBW really planned all this world with ONEUS before debuting them, or how they will explore it in the following years, because or they invent a human world for it in which there are more "normal" songs such as a song write easily and others that do that style, without complex theories, or I do not know if they will be able to continue this world in the long term, because I think it is already clear that ONEUS has come to the Kpop industry to stay as Mamamoo, no It seems that they will fail and dissolve in the short or medium term.

    • @AgusXiaolin
      @AgusXiaolin Před 4 lety +13

@@yolandamoreirarodriguez1505 Thank you! I remember in a vlive (don't remember if it was in Twilight era or Lit era) where Ravn commented: "Isn't it that the MVs are connected?"
Maybe they saw the opportunity to use RTK and mnet to their advantage and started giving a lot of spoilers and connections... and maybe that's where the previous MVs connected.
If it was planned predebut or now more recent no idea, but applause as the universe they created is amazing!
And yes, Oneus will stay for a while!!

  • @chimainguyen64

I'm gonna explain what I can make out: So it starts with CBH - They're human monarchs that were well beloved. At some point, they attract the jealousy of Helios, aka the God of Sun. Helios threatens humans that if they don't sacrifice the monarchs, he'll bring eternal darkness upon Earth (or whatever land this plot going on). Humans eventually give up on the monarchs. Helios turns them and their servants into blood-sucking creatures (I think you can call them vampires despite the lore doesn't specify since logically they also rejected by the sun, and Ravn's rap part in CBH mentions cross-burn, plus ONEUS themselves used the word vampire lol). The monarchs continue on loving and protecting humans, but the servants resent humans and kill every night. They plan to sacrifice the child born on an eclipse to bring an eternal night - exactly what humans sacrificed them to avoid. Thus the 10 years war between the monarchs and their once-servants and then the final battle - CBH. After defeating the servants, the monarchs sealed them AND themselves inside an necklace. They fell into a slumber. This is where Helios come back to the story. It's likely that during this time, Helios' son Phaeton fell from the Sun Chariot, which was struck down by lightning. He then turns his grieving to hatred towards the monarchs. He seals them in what remains from the Sun Chariot, turns their dreams to nightmares. The only way to break out is to take the blood of the descendant of the eclipse-born child they protected, and by doing so, going against everything they once were. A hundred years have passed like that. So To be or not to be storyline is at the point where they were so tortured by the nightmares they actually consider between two options.
I didn't include the theories on how it linked with previous comebacks because until now it's just, well, theories. Hope you enjoy my essay.

Just some extra facts for you Ben:
Seoho's name is pronounced 'So-ho', rather than 'Saho'. The hangul version of his name shows this.
Each of the songs in the album adds to the story they've created, especially 'Dead or Alive', which even shares lyrics with 'TO BE OR NOT TO BE'
Ravn helped write and produce all of the songs on the album, Seoho co-wrote Dizzy with Ravn and Cya from Onewe and Leedo helped with all of the songs other than Dead or Alive.
Also, I would really recommend listening to the rest of the album (especially Dead or Alive) as they are very much your style of song.

Besides that, the song is so amazing???? Like yes, the lyrics describe a love story break up which doesnt match the storyline much but that kinda doesn't matter???
Also Ravn and Leedo didn't have to go that hard. Seoho getting _thrown_ twice, actually, was amazing.

"one of the most powerful tracks I think I've heard this entire year" 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 love to hear it! oneus is always putting out such idiosyncratic and amazing tracks. also, just for your information, seoho is pronounced with an "uh"-like sound in his first syllable (think of the uh in a(uh)vengers..it's not entirely like this actually, it's a bit more on the "oh" side, but it's a hard sound to describe ahah. if you make a long "oh" sound with your mouth and then drop the jaw you should be close ahaha) and leedo is not pronounced with the l. yes there are tomoons (oneus fandom) that probably don't even realize this, I know someone who was told they were pronouncing his name wrong when they were saying it right, which is like Eedo. The Lee in his name is like the Korean surname Lee, which is actually not pronounced with an L, it's just romanized that way. anyway besides that, thanks so much for always putting out such constant content, it must be exhausting! and thanks for loving oneus ♡ also the beginning "light" scene is the "dream" version of oneus according to news articles, and represents the old life that the cursed monarchs oneus dream of returning to.

    @rosecream1233 Před 4 lety +7

So this is my theory; completely mine and mainly just me thinking about how I can make this mv make sense
    STORY THEORY:
So the crown part with the robes happens after come back home. So after they win against their servants, they escape to look for a safe place to live and they come across this abandon building that has a crown and a necklace, and they know one of those will protect them. They realize that the necklace will trap them inside of it so instead they pick the crown. Years pass by and they turn the abandon building into a safe place (and ravn & keonhee take turns wearing the crown because they’re kings). However they realize that the humans are still restless and that there are supporters of their dead servants still alive. One day their safe haven gets invade by evil people with guns, this catches them by slight surprise, but as they’re getting killed they realize that the only way they can be safe and keep humans from fighting is by trapping their souls/bodies in the necklace. Once inside the necklace they become overwhelmed by the madness and torture within the necklace.
I believe the opening scene take place after all this and it’s actually Woong looking back on all they’ve lost and had to sacrifice and went through to finally be in a safe isolated place.
Again, feel free to disagree, this is just my own thought. I think that if their is a third song than continues this story line, it’ll either explain what happened immediately after come back home, or it’ll go into exploring the madness from the curse and how they end up in that outside village place.
    Thanks.

While I'm completely lost in terms of the concept, the references, the story line etc I'm still very much blown away by the whole MV, the cinematography, the picturesque video and shots. The concept is definitely superior and perfect in my opinion. The performance aspect of this looks like it's gonna top "Come back home" even and I was already very impressed with that stage. Plus the rappers have full own singing parts which it one of my biggest weakness! The song while great has stuck to me as much as some of their previous songs. The chorus gives me "Egotistic" but make it very dark and male lol It's surprising but they make it work. Overall it is a journey visually speaking, it's really making you feel invested but the song needs to grow on me.

the music video is now their suffering.. from the teaser, it has said that helios gave them a curse that all of them will regret. the mv portrays 7 deadly sins. (gluttony) first scene it shows them that they’re happily eating until hwanwoong’s eyes became red (that means it’s wrath; anger.) next is xion laying on the grassy field which i think pertains to (sloth) next is (pride). pride is dangerously corrupt selfishness, putting one’s own desires, urges, wants and whims before the welfare of other people. when ravn killed the guards, it looks like he is trying to get the crown. he want to be the king. then their uncontrolled desire of power for the young child, that makes the scene of leedo being tied up in the stone just like the punishment of (lust). then next is greed. hwanwoong reaching out for that necklace; the desire and pursuit of material possessions. lastly, envy. keonhee became the king. envy is the most bloody sin, making lots of murders just for the power. a resentful one, a covetousness towards the traits or possessions of someone else; the trait that i’m pertaining to is the kid’s crown that became ravn’s crown and now, keonhee.

I tried my best to give you an outlook on how the overall story goes - I do hope that this helps you understand a little better what's going on c:
So as we all know from Come Back Home's story film, ONEUS were 6 monarchs who were loved and worshipped by the people they ruled over, a love equally as strong as the love the monarchs held for their people. Upon seeing just how worshipped the monarchs were by humans, Helios became jealous and threatened to take away the sun from the humans. Fearful of being cursed by the sun deity, the humans sacrificed the six monarchs and all their servants - having been banished to the eternal night by Helios, the servants became cursed ghouls and the monarchs being cursed with having to drink human blood, something they did only to evil-doers as they still held love for humans, despite being sacrificed.
Seeing how the now-vampire monarchs protected humans, the cursed servants became enraged - they were disgusted by the humans' betrayal (sacrificing the monarchs and them in order to keep the sun) and a war broke out between the monarchs and the cursed servants. The monarchs worshipped the moon and waited for the day of an eclipse, as a child would be born - one who were to be used for a ceremony to bring the eternal night to its end. Once the child was born, the cursed servants tried to kill the child - which the monarchs were protecting. A war that lasted ten years. In the end, the monarchs finally won, however one servant was left - one they couldn't kill, as the servant had told them that on the night of a red moon, he would come back for the child.
The sky turned red with the moon, and just like the servant had told, he rose again and tried to slay the child - however his efforts were futile, as in the end, the monarchs were the last ones standing. The souls of the deceased cursed servants were then sealed within a necklace by the monarchs.
Knowing what it would entail for their beloved humans if they were still around (endless war, pain and suffering), the monarchs put down their crowns, and also sealed their own souls in the necklace.
At some point, Helios was struck with grief at the loss of his son, Phaeton who died while trying to ride his father's sun chariot to prove to his friends that he truly was the son of the sun god, Helios. Helios's grief then turned into anger which fell onto the monarchs who fled into the darkness. However Helios caught them and stripped them of their powers, imprisoning them in a chamber made of the charred remains of the sun chariot. This caused them to fall into an endless slumber, and Helios cast the most powerful curse yet upon the monarchs - in order to regain their powers and escape, the monarchs had to consume the blood of the prophetic child's descendants.
    -
What you see at the start of the To Be Or Not To Be MV is but a mere illusion - a dream in the monarchs' endless slumber, proven true by the fact that Hwanwoong wakes up from that dream and his eyes turn red. Throughout the course of the MV we see settings that contrast between that dream, and their reality in which they are struggling to decide whether To Be (Live) or Not To Be (Die). We can see how each one of them slowly is shown in bloody scenes or ones where they give into the temptation of drinking blood - Leedo bathing in blood, Hwanwoong wearing the thorn crown and blood dripping down his fingers, Ravn piercing people with his spear, Seoho seeing that he has to make a choice, Xion's charred hands which he later cuts and feeds Keonhee the blood. We can also see the waking up process - with Keonhee it's especially prominent as the blindfold that kept him blind to reality and kept him in the slumber falls off upon drinking blood.
    -
We see how the monarchs enter a white room, looking much stronger than before and get ambushed by snipers. Those snipers shooting at them could symbolize their subconscious trying to stop them one last time from escaping - however their will to live is stronger, and they reclaim their power, as well as the necklace within which their souls are locked away - thus regaining their full power and breaking Helios's curse. At the end we also see Keonhee taking back the monarchs' crown, meaning they have come back - however different.
The ''I have to kill you in my heart'' lyric could very well symbolize the monarchs killing the love they held for humans and realizing that if the humans were willing to sacrifice them to keep something (in this case the sun), why should they (the monarchs) be suffering in order to sustain the humans?
Lastly: To Be Or Not To Be symbolizes a difficult choice that has to be made in order for something to happen - which in the case of ONEUS's story, means either the monarchs deciding to kill to live, or die and sustain their beloved humans. Which directly ties into how TBONTB and a bside on LIVED called ''Dead Or Alive'' are tied together (As said by the members). The phrase ''dead or alive'' also appears within the song, just like how ''To Be Or Not To Be'' appears in the lyrics of ''Dead or Alive''.

OKAY, THEORIES?! MY TIME HAS COME. i'm not sorry. you asked for this. here we go. (yes, i am crazy)
First of all, I think that although Oneus does not confine themselves to a concept, they do have a loose theme that runs through all of their MVs: a contrast of light with darkness. This is most evident in Valkyrie and TBONTB, where there is a distinct theme of them in darkness while looking towards light. There is a direct mirroring between that MV and this one.
My theory is that there are two versions of the Oneus we see, one light and one dark. They may be the same Oneus, but if we go off their MVs, then it seems like they are trapped between two worlds. In Valkyrie, CBH and TBONTB, they are in the dark one, reaching for light. In Twilight, they are in the light, but they know of the darkness that exists.
The overall summary is this: They are monarchs (Twilight). They have lost their throne and were banished while protecting the child (CBH). And now they are fighting to regain their thrones (TBONTB).
All of their songs and MVs are linked. This song is like a continuation of Twilight and A Song Written Easily and a prequel to Come Back Home and Valkyrie. I feel like the order is Twilight -> Valkyrie -> CBH -> TBONTB. (ASWE and Lit are slightly different from this narrative but they are still connected - I'll explain.)
CBH and TBONTB establish the storyline more concretely than the previous MVs. There is a distinct story running of them being monarchs who are tasked to protect the child and are then banished by Helios (god of the sun). This starts in Twilight I believe. Twilight MV is their realm, where they rule. CBH establishes their banishment and their fight. TBONTB takes place in the dark world and shows their fight to break out. They are being attacked by those (under Helios' command) who wish them to remain trapped. Valkyrie shows them searching for light (actually the lyrics 'bulbich-eul balkhilli' directly reflect this). This (to me) is a reflection of them in the dark world, portraying them as fallen angels (or rulers) who are stuck in the dark, looking for a way out. TBONTB is their fight between light and dark, between good and evil. It is their fight to break free from those who wish them trapped and dead. Specifically, this is shown by the moment Hwanwoong reaches for the statue holding the necklace (which also appears in Twilight) while in a room of light and it immediately shows them trapped as statues in the dark.
Here is the main choreography that appears in _every_ MV:
    1:46 of Valkyrie
    3:19-3:20 of Twilight
    0:37 of ASWE
    1:36 of TBONTB
It is when they shield their eyes from the sun. Usually it is Hwanwoong where this is emphasized. The moon is the only light they can look at without squinting, the only light that does not hurt them. I like to think this is a tribute to Tomoons, but that's just wishful thinking . . .
Now for how ASWE and Lit are linked:
Flowers: ASWE and TBONTB are link by this unbroken narrative of flowers, and both instances where flowers appear, there is the theme of light. (Flowers do not appear on the dark side of TBONTB.)
Lit: Heavy emphasis on the moon. This may not seem relevant, but the moon is a source of light when all else is dark, and it is a source of light that is only a reflection. It reflects light from another object, or in this case, perhaps another world. This becomes relevant from their live performance of Lit on RTK, where the sound effects when they look to the red moon is identical to that of the ending of both the CBH and TBONTB MVs.
I also just want to point out how the ending of all their lead MVs has them staring to the sky, to the sun, to the moon. Tomoons. They really do this all for us.
Whew, okay that's all. I have sooooo much more to be honest, but we're gonna pretend that I'm taking care of my responsibilities and NOT typing Oneus theories at 3am . . . and we'll just leave it at that . . .
    yobi out

I love your reactions by the way The reaction at the end was so like you could see it all hit you every emotion was there It was great. I think oneus is just trying to wait until the BTS members have to go into the military to show everyone exactly what they're made of because these boys are fire and they are not getting the attention they deserve and Leedo is just turning into a bias wrecker but I agree with some of the other people on here and it's a group full of them like there's not one of them that isn't perfect. But Woongie when my heart first and he's going to keep it lol I refuse to be wrecked.

Ok, so I found out that you have to go baaaaack to Road to Kingdom to start with the whole theory thing (I forgot which song tho, prob their final perf?) And start adding the CBH theories. But the main concept that most ppl get is, they're Monarchs who got stripped off of their power and they need to kill(?) someone close to them in order to get that power back.
