"The reason we feel alienated is because the society is infantile, trivial, and stupid. So the cost of sanity in this society is a certain level of alienation. I grapple with this because I’m a parent. And I think anybody who has children, you come to this realization, you know-what’ll it be? Alienated, cynical intellectual? Or slack-jawed, half-wit consumer of the horseshit being handed down from on high? There is not much choice in there, you see. And we all want our children to be well adjusted; unfortunately, there’s nothing to be well adjusted to!"
    Terence McKenna

I've thought about this a lot. It's a huge dilemma and the main reason why I'm afraid of having kids.

Ouch. No wonder I cycle between insatiable curiosity and not wanting to wake up in the mornings. It's painfully depressing to see what is going on, yet too dangerous to be ignorant.

I sometimes feel alienated from people surrounding me. At some moments in my life, I find myself no longer belong to this world although it provides me lots of love, joy and happiness from my beloved friends and family. Thank you so much for your wonderful sharing. I'm aware of the importance of reconnecting with nature after I watch your wonderful video. I'm on my way of eradicating the meaninglessness, building up positivity and compassion. Once again, thank you so much.

Dr. Gabor Mate on FOUR types of alienations of man (in modern, competitive and materialistic culture) from
    1. Man, 2. Nature, 3. God and 4. Self (according to Karl Marx) leading to the loss of meaning in life.
All the false substitutes cannot compensate us for the loss of genuine meaning. Learning to Reconnect is vital to regain authenticity and self-actualization.

Nope, in order to survive knowledge needs to be passed down. Your "gut feeling" is secondary. The basic foundation of society is knowledge, and knowledge it's experience.
When you were a kid in the stone age and somebody died by eating or doing a certain thing, your mother did passed down that knowledge as a baby regardless of how you feel. And as Zizek would say and so on and so on and so on...

Which book is recommended? I want to learn about alienation more deeply.

I'm a year late but if you're still interested in the topic I would recommend you two books, the first is "Tribe: on homecoming and belonging" and the second is (unironically) the Unabomber Manifesto

This must come with the idea said that the Chinese used to take children because they wanted to teach them ..so doctrine became what some saw. Then again it was confronted so why how are the unfair scenes being seen? Once a higher was screaming I'm not Chinese..meaning they were rounding up Chinese. So who ? I'm just guessing about the alienated but need to know for peace sake

Cant say women make much effort to connect with most of us men either, unless we are already deemed to have high social status.

It’s simple. Just get back to our true nature. LOL. That’s like telling a drug addict: it’s simple, just stop talking opioids! You happy now?
