  • Curcumin is an organic chemical found in the root vegetable turmeric. Turmeric in the ginger family. It looks similar to ginger but it has a vibrant yellow-orange color. Turmeric is used as a spice to flavor curry and gives it the yellow color. There have been several studies showing that curcumin produces a modest improvement in depression. In this video I show you how curcumin helps depression and depression mixed with anxiety.

      I felt this way about a layered approach for years when so many doctors I went to just wanted to dispense pills and I would ask about other lifestyle changes I could make to help the depression symptoms. They had nothing but just "take the pills". I would even tell them I went for walks 3 times a week, counseling, support groups, and the doctors would tell me "If you would think it would help". REALLY?😯🤦‍♀️ I couldn't believe it and said "To treat other conditions like diabetes, doctors don't just say take insulin, they would also give instructions on diet, exercise, ect." The doctors just shook their head and ignored it. So I'm glad I found Dr Marks she makes the MOST sense.

      I have been less obsesed since i swapped nesquik cocoa for natural cocoa! I would go crazy for chocolate milk before- and i would use tons of nesquik, it was really bad.
      Now i still drink chocolate milk and mokachinos, but i dont get the deep, bone wrenching craving i would get before! It has certainly helped me with obsesive behaviours, mainly with over-playing videogames.

    I just went online and ordered Curcumin. I'm building multiple income streams, so understanding this gives me another layer to use to build my life up again. I purchased and started taking an effective K2 as well. One thing I learned in life is to follow academic information rather than heavy emotional - type appeals. I see a counselor and take meds because of your videos Dr. Tracey... Thanks! I liked, subscribed, followed, and I'm now receiving real help.

    Thank you Dr. Marks. This series is timely for me as I am weaning off of a Bupropion/Duloxetine/Lamotrigine cocktail that I have been using for 4 years with only brief sporadic results. Hopefully using some of these natural approaches will be part of an alternative remedy to this long period of deep darkness.

    I never new that food or the imbalance in certain areas would cause depression. I connected the dots after a few years. If i had known how important the impact foods or lack of vitamines can impact your moods. Now they just give you the pill to fix your mood. That is just symptom resolving.

    Changing my diet enabled me to get off six prescription drugs I was supposed to be on for life. This included pain pills, depression medication, steroid creams and more. Cutting out the processed sugar and processed foods can add to the quality of your life in many ways. It’s not easy to do but definitely worth the effort. I also lost 40 pounds and I have kept it off for eight years. I started with Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s books and CZcams videos. This is not a quick fix it’s a lifetime commitment. That being said. In time you will not desire and crave the junk foods/processed foods. You actually train your body what to like, but it will time and effort.

    This came at the right time. I’ve stopped taking my antidepressant after speaking with my doctor because I’m looking to get pregnant. I wasn’t on a high dose, but it definitely took the edge off. I’ve noticed some increased irritability, sadness, and insomnia. I’m going to check out your playlist. Hopefully these things are pregnancy-safe. I know not all natural remedies are.

    • @DrTraceyMarks
      @DrTraceyMarks  Před 2 lety +3

      Very true not all are. After a quick search I see that supplement levels of curcumin may not be safe in pregnancy. In a couple of weeks I'm talking about lavender caps (Silexan). It's more for anxiety though and has a good safety profile in pregnancy but sill always good to run things by your doctor.

    Thank you for listing the sources. Viewers should note sample size for one study was 40 people with mild to moderate conditions, and the other was 123 people split into 4 groups (so sample sizes of 30).
    This is terribly small, especially considering the demographics of those groups are far from common relative to CZcams demographics.
