Anybody else became extremely scared and paranoid of your birds safety after this video?
Me đ I'm preparing for a green cheek conure and am only using hot water to clean anyone it can come in contact with, because of this video I am deep and I mean DEEP cleaning my room and my parents use fabulouso and air freshener BUT my room is carpet and the only carpet room in the house so that is very convenient, I also don't use airfreshener in my room either and also won't be using it in the hallway by my room bc I dont want to risk my bird dying, pray he will be ok and happy đđ
Having pets live in my house has made me subconsciously quit smoking and i find that so amazing
Meow meow is on pfp
@@ANKAY21 we love meow meow
Good job for you! Helping yourself and pets đ mustnât have been easy still
@@swiftiebee13 its easier because it gives me something to keep busy with
Congratulations! Iâve never tried smoking but I know itâs hard to quit. You made a nice choice. :)
keeping your birds safe can be a constant chore. i had a bird and a cat at the same time and i was constantly on alert to keep them separate, closing the door to the bird room constantly and cutting out anything scented from my life completely like scented candles (actually, candles, period), air fresheners and a lot of other things. i was doing everything i could but still one thing slipped past me: my neighbors. they hold barbecues in their yard very often during the warm months, but i always kept my window shut because the smoke can be incredibly damaging to my bird. last october, i had my bedroom (aka the bird room) window cracked open the slightest bit so i could get some air circulation and then left the room for a few hours. during that time, my neighbors started a barbecue (it was the last few days of october. i didn't think they would have a barbecue in OCTOBER) and when i came back in the room i realized what happened, but at that point my bird had been breathing in the fumes for hours. he became really sick. it seemed like he recovered, but then a week or so later he became really lethargic and ill again and within 24 hours of him showing symptoms, he died. having my window open less than an inch killed my bird. so while you should definitely be careful with household substances, you also have to make sure your neighbors are aware and at the very least can give you a heads up before they have barbecues in heir yard (or do whatever else, like set off fireworks)
I didn't know THAT! Seven birds! and other than how much i love them, i still have so much to learn...
That happened to me last year but it was kinda a hard situation to avoid smoke. It was when the fires hit Oregon and my bird at the time was at my parents house which is 15 miles away from where the fires where really bad so we had to evacuate all the pets in the middle of the night, all our chicken survived surprisingly but my conure I had to evacuate so she did breathe in the smoke for a day and she was fine for a week but the smoke was still lingering outside and I found her dead in her cage one morning:( it was very sad I felt horrible but now I am so cautious about fumes and smoke and all that.
@@auntbecky7649 i am so sorry...
If your neighbors have a bird I hope they had the same thing just as a Zarma thing if they do get zarma
@@puffballsanimations412 what's that?!
My mom doesnât believe me and thinks Iâm crazy when I tell her our nonstick pans are toxic for them đ
People think they know better and that youâre overreacting, but youâre educated on the matter and theyâre just doing what feels right to their ignorant selves. Not worth your petâs life. Do not cave.
If your 18 by law you can move out and just you know get a bird but I donât know how old yo are
@@puffballsanimations412 I love when people say this... Yeah, sure she can move out cause she old enough! But, most 18 yr olds don't make enough money to do this! So...đ€·ââïž Why?
I would Google it for her and let her read it! Also, the op didn't mention, besides self cleaning ovens...Oven cleaners are toxic too! So, if you clean your oven, it can't be with any cleaners that tell you to turn on the over to activate the cleaner!
@@chawntelh oh I didnât know about the oven cleaners, but good thing is we clean our oven with just some soap and a sponge and then paper towels, we only ever use our oven for baking stuff so it doesnât get as messy (: Iâll definitely keep that in mind thank you
We were aware of these dangers and avoided all of them. But when we were traveling, the place we stayed at had Teflon and we hadnât noticed and our bird died. We were devastated and baffled as to what happened because we hadnât realized it was the Teflon. It happened so quickly and we miss her so much
Iâm so sorry!
What happened exactly? Was your bird still far away?
An amazing alternative to non-stick pots and pans is cast iron. They are a bit more expansive but totally worth it, they last longer and don't dent or scratch easily. The best part is though is that they are naturally non-stick (if taken care off) and won't release toxic fumes.
you can buy your cast iron at department stores like marshalls or TJ Maxx if you are in USA, much cheaper :)
Or stainless steel đ
@@whitebone948 yes! that's all i use! đ„â€ïžđđŻ
I'm glad you mentioned the sleeping with them... although I have never heard ANYBODY say it! I have a sad story...I was 4 yrs old, and for my bday I was given a blue buggie (parakeet)... She was so sweet and very friendly. I was playing with her, and we were laying on the bed, she was snuggling up next to my neck and her warm breath was so relaxing...I fell asleep đ„ș I woke up, and went about my 4yr old business... When I remember I was playing with the bird! I couldn't find her... Until I found her dead... On my bedđ
I will never forget that day! So, I'm glad you said this, cause it's happened to me! đ
Omg, when I was about that age I fell asleep with my beloved lovebird and suffocated him. I woke up the next morning with my parents sitting next to my bed holding his little body, and I just bawled my eyes out. I still cry over that bird.
Iâve had it happen and I still havenât gotten over it. Waking up to the eerily silent room, then pulling back the covers to see him dead right next to me. My heart hurts just typing this out four years later
I had a conure when I was young. Sweet bird that just wanted to snuggle in my side and sleep. I passed out , when I woke up , I couldn't find him. I ended up seeing his tail feathers sticking out from underneath the bed skirt. I had smothered in my sleep. Absolutely devastating and still bothers me to this day.
A few months ago we has a plumber install a new water heater. Without any warning he lit a welder to fasten a new valve. I had a broken leg at the time and I couldnât move fast enough to get my Poncho out of the house. He was my best friend of 30 years. Took him to his vet immediately but we couldnât save him. I miss him everyday.
Iâm sorry, itâs never easy. I lost my first budgie a few months ago from a disease, had him for a year and a half. I had so much to learn and do with him, I just wish I could have done it with him
:(
Thankfully I know all of these, but every time I buy or use a new product, I'm paranoid something might harm them, so i watch all these videos lol. They have an air purifier that sits beside them and follows them to which room they're in. It's a shame that so many products don't label whether they have coatings in them, and don't often know when calling the manufacturer. Makes buying new things tougher!
Useful information keep going
thank you! glad you found it helpful! đ
I really appreciate your illustrations. Because sometimes the information comes fast and furious and I cannot absorb, let alone remember, everything. Your videos are very informative, not just entertaining. Thatâs a real plus.
Just an FYI, zz plants are not non toxic, they are actually really quite poisonous to humans and petsđ© sansevieria too, (snake plants) are not safe either . great video!
The sleeping one is the one I struggle with the most. She(Luna) pretty much only screams when she's in her cage. She's out all day but I gotta put her in when it's time for bed and oh god does she hate that.
The other night I asked her if she was ready to go to bed and she immediately hid in my shirt. After a bit she popped her head out and I asked her "ready to go night night?" and she immediately hid back in my shirt lol. It's painful putting her in there when I know she really just wants to sleep with me, but like you said it's just too much of a risk.
I used acetone, but in a different room from my birds. My advice? Don't use it at all. They died today. đ Now I know that using it in a different room isn't enough and won't make the same mistake with my soon to be new pets. Don't make the mistakes I did and learn from them â„ïž
this is kind of an obscure one but dont have cups with liquid in them sitting around unless you are monitoring your bird, birds can be curious and drink that liquid. even if it is water, a bird can fall into a cup of water when trying to drink from a tall cup and drown in it
7:40 thatâs how I lost my bird four years ago and I still havenât gotten over it. I still have dreams about traumatic things happening to my bird and when Iâm away I constantly worry if my bird is safe
I lost my bird by preheating the oven, not aware there was a small fry pan left in oven I fell asleep to find I had killed my bird of 21 years. Please believe this fact. Unfortunately learned first hand. I killed my bird and miss him Terribly
I love to see videos like these, there are so many dangerous that bird owners may not be aware of, so this is hopefully helping a lot of people^^
I love how in the list of things that you shouldnt have lying around she mentioned other pets and said you should chuck them if you wont use them XD
I love when you raise the pitch on your voice when you have someone else talking. It's hilarious! p.s. great info! thanks so much
Honestly best most informative videos ever. Thanks!
Thank you for the important information and also the humor! Love it
I've been using ur vids recently to help me out with conures and I am so thankful I'm doing my research bcz i found u, and without u my birds would be in danger, I haven't gotten them yet but I can't wait because I've been learning so much and I believe I'm ready! tysm :)
by the way my cousin sleeps with her pet cockatiel but she puts him on her nightstand since she made a small bed for them (a box with some of their feathers and a blanket) but sometimes he will come out of the box while she's sleeping and sleep beside her or just chill next to her, should I tell her to just put him in the cage when she's going to sleep?
Wow this is really good and helpful! Thank you so much! (Btw you saved my birds from dying with this vid)
Thank you so much for sharing this video!!!đ
I feel so happy seeing your birds so happy. So so cute. Top bird Mum. I have found it hard to find a good avian vet though, I don't have an emergency plan atm as a result.
You have the best advice on birds and how to take care of them and all the tips and tricks
Your doing an amazing job well done. My Senegal is 21 years old he doesnât stay in his large cage. But he knows itâs bedtime and appreciates being covered up and he likes 12 hours sleep.
I have enjoyed and will be using some of your on your advice. đđ
Love your videos they are very informative
Great video!
Very useful info :)
thanks so much! đ
one of my friends that I am probably going to tell her eventually, is pretty mean to their birds. They had their cellling fan on and their bird went on it, saying it was a âfunny jokeâ
I am so great full for your videos i know nothing and within a few hours of watching your videos Iâm confident and ready to bring my pineapple conure home in a few days
Ayo ty for alotta ur tips, im getting a young sun conure soon and i want him to live his best life
After watching this Iâm actually relived because everyone in my household are Native / Mexican and weâre very old school when it comes to cooking or cleaning so we use all natural remedies
Whats crazy is I had a greencheek conure growing up and my mom used all of these things with our bird! I would have never known this as an adult.
A couple of things. 1. Parrots can easily chew through window screens. 2. I built surrounds for my ceiling fans, which hang from screw eyes on screwhooks in the beams in the ceiling. These can be made from 1/2" plywood and 1/2" square hole screening. As my fans are about 5' in diameter, I had to put one central piece of wood across the middle to support the screening. It wasn't expensive. All wooden parts can be derived from one 4x8' sheet of 1/2" plywood. So far, my bird hasn't chewed up the framing; but he does like flying to it and hanging upside down a lot. If he does eventually chew up the plywood, I will have to replace the wood with some white oak, which he can't seem to easily chew.
You videos are such a blessings thank you! Wanted to ask what do you know about window screen. Is that a problem for birds or toxic?
a bird of mine was left unattended in a room with a ceiling fan. my younger sister turned it on in hopes of getting the bird down, she got launched onto the ground and injured her leg. sadly we didnt have any avian vets open at the time, so we did our best to keep our safe and alive.
that situation was around 6+ months ago, shes already been to a vet and is very close to full recovery. she walks with a limp but its close to that confident bird walk.
Your videos are SO GOOD đ
Hehe thank you so much! đ„°
Casting Iron is the way to go.
Or stainless steel
It puts iron into your food no lol
@@junyah4152 It is rarely harmful. If you have trouble with it I would consult a doctor.
Uh oh .đ„Ž. I have a brand new Delonghi space heater 3ft from my 2 month old parrotlet đ„Žđ„. I will check the MSDS specs on it.. Glad I watched this video...
i have one to add. my parakeets like to eat my drywall. they will start tearing at any small holes until they reach drywall. and they have coddlebones and stuff.
Finally the tutorial Iâve been waiting for
I heard that miners used to take canaries into the mines and if they died due to the chemicals that meant that they had to leave the mines. :(
I heard that and idk if its fake or not but either way its still messed up
Thats true! Its really sad for the Birds, but it saved a lot of the mine-workers.
They sure do.
My dad sleeps in a chair at night and they will literally climb under the blanket slightly and they sleep together †its so adorable. So there's not much chance that our bird could get hurt :)
Some of these products and daily use stuff or hard to get rid of, so maybe you should make a video about how to replace these things
My sweet Green-Cheeked Conure was killed by a tiny amount of beef-fat smoke from cooking a steak... while he was two rooms away from the kitchen. Cookware was PTFE-free and PFOA-free. (I was gutted and baffled, so I took him to the veterinary university for a necropsy.) đđŠđ«
I am so glad that I got my birds almost a week after cleaning the room that we emptied for them đ we actually didnât end up using many chemicals or cleaning products but my parents did plan to. That couldâve ended badlyâŠ
Also, the day we drove to pick them up, my dad put a new glee things in his car and it ended up spilling, itâs scent was absolutely overbearing and awful smelling, I never even thought the fumes could affect the birds đ
i just love yr styleđâ€ïž
My bird and i are watching this together lol
What paint should I use for my birdâs cage?
How about diffusers with natural oils?
Thank you for your video. Is scented hand soap also dangerous if you handle your bird after washing with it? I imagine that burning sage is also toxic?
Love it !! Do you have any reccomendations for bird safe soaps that are easy to find to clean poop ?
You can use a little bit of dawn and water mixed together as a solution. Just be careful and make sure it is dried after you clean your birds cage
Use vinegar and water..never use soaps and stuff lik dat with chemicals..apple cider vinegar diluted in water..and u should give apple cider to ur birds too..
I use a brand called Poop Off which is made for cleaning bird cages. I buy it on Amazon.
Dawn is safe for bird :)
I love watching ur videos and cry bc I donât have a bird lmao even though I do a lot of research just cuz itâs fun
4:09 is the smoke from insense stick toxic for birds??
I have a question we have 4 canary and a parrot we use air freshener plugs in our downstairs bathroom and master room which in none of those areas our birds stay at , is it still toxic even though they arenât in the same room where the air fresheners are at ? Also thank you for mentioning other stuffs that can kill birds
Let me get this stright, so is ptfe and pfoa is only toxic if heated so if I had let's see a rain coat that had it on it ( idk if that's a actual thing or not ) it wouldn't hurt my parrot??
So what do you use to scent your house? Because i have cat and definitely need the plug in glades
My boyfriend begs me to let the bird sleep with us at night after we watch a movie and I tell him no every time lol he loves our bird so much but I tell him every time that he has nearly crushed frankie(our conure) when he fell asleep during a movie one time. I was still awake so I was watching out for frank but my bf sleeps so deep I canât even wake him myself so thereâs no way our bird could
I had a bottle of soda and both my birds were going on a rampage trying to steal sips from it, only thing though was it was in a bottle and they both got mad cuz they couldn't reach it, and whenever I tried taking a sip they would bite my nose and mouth
Would you say it's a good idea to get an air purifier?
Yes even fingernail polish and removers hairspray even some spices that are strong .
Does anyone know if running a plastic food dehydrator in your home is dangerous to birds? I have a conure and live is a pretty small apartment.
Hiii! We have 1 cockatiel and 4 budgies . We used to use pinesole which ofc is not safe for bird. Does anyone know a bird safe floor cleaner? Something affordable $30 or less maybe? Thanks!
heeeeeey , so how exactly do i have a shower and clean myself ? its been a week since i got my birds and im stinking but im afraid to shower lol
are non scented candles okay? i cant find anything on non scented ones only scented
can you have candles but never light them? I like the smell of candles but are to nervous to light them.
So my kitchen has Teflon products and there are stairs to where Iâm hoping to keep my bird is that bad?
Which type of conure is the blue bird u got ?
With perfume is it the spray that's bad or the actual perfume itself. SO could I for example use rub on perfume with a bird around?
She listed zz plants as safe for birds however I looked it up and it is said that these are toxic for all animals humans and birds, can someone clarify for me if there is something I am missing?
My room is always cold, I like it around 67 degrees, do I need to buy a heat lamp for my bird? The pet store recommended a heat lamp of 50w but it said for reptiles, not birds so I wasn't sure.. I have 2 parakeets.
What do you guys think of hardness fly training outside?
I want to get a bird.... soon enough and I want to know if there are any bird safe perfumes or colognes
what about essential oil diffusers?
What if you are cleaning your house and you use products that are not good but the bird is upstairs with the door close will it affect them
You are theâš best âš
How do I get my Peach faced Love bird to eat veggies or fruits. He only eat seeds.
While he is in his cage when outdoors, he is mesmerized by the outdoor running water fountain. Looking at it with curiosity and excitement.
Mine liked water right from the sink tap... it got curious... another enjoys the shower...
Can you use hair dryers and non stick pans in the same house as your bird and also can you keep your bird in the same room as you bird? Please can you reply!đ„șđ„ș
So-called air freshener (air wick) can be fatal?
Hi! The bamboo photo u showed in the video is lucky bamboo. Lucky bamboo is not the safe as Bamboo. It is toxic to parrot.
welp, rip my dadâs cooking-
If my granddaughter use to have scented candles in her room is it safe for her to have a parakeet in her room. There is no other room to have one since she has other siblings younger. Even if she gets rid of all of them.
Hi stupid question but Iâm considering on getting a parrot soon and I was just curious if you could have a fan on while the bird is in their cage?
Yesđ if it's in the cage it can't harm it if the cage door is closed that is đ
Her: *talks about how your bird can die*
Bird: I am SPIDERMAN
I actually had a bird that ran Into a ceiling fan it really scared me but he is still alive so I guess he is tough
my bird doesn't stink but I do đ
Can you make a view on nail trimming?
Do carrots need to be fi Ely chopped??
I have love bird and there awesome so far there doing good I have them for 10 years so far I just clean with soap and water
When it comes to bathing yourself are you allowed to use any fragrance shampoo and body wash or will that also affect your pet parrot like how you use air fresheners or perfume?
Same question! And what about fabric softner?
While I do understand how sensitive their respiratory system is, if you need to worry about your soaps and detergents then that's a pet one would need to think long and hard about owning.
So I am allergic to my buggies or almost any other animal.but I do not need to loose them what the next step ?
Is it good when some body is cooking and the bird is in the balcony with trusted ones?
What about perfume or cologne
I rlly want a bird and my mom is okay with me buying a bird but we have a small house and her room is right next to mine and the only "safe place" for a bird would be my room but I don't wanna risk getting a bird until I'm 100% sure my bird will be okay. I want bugies and what I'm thinking is putting them in my shed as bird room which is about the size of and average bedroom and no shelves or anything and is in pretty good condition. Of course I'll need to patch a few things up but once I get it bird safe I think I'll get s bird. Do you think it's a good idea?
Question! What if my bird is upstairs in my room and my family is cooking downstairs. Or things are being sprayed in the air in other rooms. Are they still harmful for the bird?
When in doubt, donât do it. I read something about a widow who left a nonstick pan on her stove to heat up while she ran to the restroom. All 4-5 parrots she owned died even though they were kept on the second floor behind closed doors with open window ventilation. Granted, teflon fumes are just especially toxic for birds, but the point still stands.
I use an air purifier when we cook on the stove top, even though I don't have teflon as I am worried about cooking oil burn off.
Omg I've burned candles before around my bird
Me too. Jus yesterday but I promise I didn't even think of it. And I am terrified. Is yours OK???
Is it okay to use candles in a different room as the bird and keep the door to their room closed?
Having a macaw is like having 12 infants its soooo hard to take care of it as well as expensive
What about soy candles?
