Girl you made me cry. I have been doing events since 2014, building my portfolio. I am a certify wedding and event planner, but i really enjoy designing the event ( balloons decor and more)and coordinating everything for my customer. But most of my clients hire me for décor only. I prefer the full event planning and design. Sometimes customer want to do it themselves and nothing matches. I am ready to take my business to the next level. I thinking about opening a venue. But definitely , putting everything in God hands help us to define our directions. This business is hard, we must love what we do. But at the end it is so rewarding to see the results of our work.
This business is hard! It’s so funny. I was just talking to someone about that yesterday. It can be extremely rewarding and frustrating both at the same time. You really have to have a passion for this.

Wow,that's me!! Been doing events over 10yrs, just a few every so often or creating & selling things for others to add to an event. God 1st, adding picnics to my events as well. My passion is so crazy that no matter what I'm doing I STOP to start creating, & applying their dream to the creativity already in my head. I will say I have learned that even if I can do a balloon garland or a back drop or the entire event to OUTSOURCE!!! Learned the hard way not to go overboard to a point that I'm burned out. Its ok to suggest a different vendor so the entire vision comes together beautifully!! Lots of great information, thanks for sharing!! Ask God b4 you ask Google! blessings
Thanks for your tips. I really appreciate them. I am now changing to do more decorating because the planning is way too much for me. I have gotten older, and don't want all the work that comes with detailed planning as an Event Planner anymore. So, I found you online and decided to watch your video. I am currently renting tables, chairs, tents, linen, props, setting up dessert tables for all occasions, and more to afford a venue next year. I have been documenting it on my CZcams channel. It's hard work, but I know it will pay off in the end.

i just saw this video. I have watched several of your videos and I have really liked your work! I own a balloon decorating business in the Cleveland OH area and have to say is what stuck out and I really appreciated was your "put GOD first" and your faith that you hold, while conducting, and as a part of your business. Very seldom if ever do you hear a person in business even mention the word faith or GOD and make it a part of their guidance in their business. . I say yes to all the questions . It’s taking a long time for me to get clients . I’m trying to figure out what is my niche for this industry . I like to decorate and set up . I’ve also been praying 🙏🏾 to see what plan god has for me . Im struggling on business plan . Lol 😂 the company I worked for for 15 yrs closed . So I’m trying harder to find my way, in this industry of decor . Sometimes I feel to quit , then someone will request or ask how much do you charge . There I go ready to decorate lol 😂 thanks so much for the reminder . 😍
Are you in the US? If so, have you tried Thumbtack? That is where I got my first set of clients. You do have to pay for your leads. But i felt like it was worth it for the exposure.
Also, do you post your work on Pinterest? I’ve gotten client from there.
With this industry, I feel like it does take some time to break in. Keep at it and keep praying! I’ll say a prayer too. ☺️

I'm planning on starting my balloon business next year (arches, Collums, centerpieces,garlands etc)This is something I've been wanting to do my whole life but put it off but the Lord has blessed me now to be able to achieve it! I'm going to build my portfolio this year then launch January of next year if it is the lord's will.I have faith and believing the Lord to bless me and my business!!

You’re welcome!! Yeah, I want to focus on decorating and making everything beautiful. You will get a lot of people that say they want decorations but they’re actually looking for someone to plan their event. It takes some education on our part to let clients know what the difference is.
Sure! I can add those videos to the list. I must admit, pricing is the hardest part of this business for me. I’m still working it out. At first, I was completely underpricing myself. 🤦🏽♀️

You’re welcome! Do you mean how many balloons should you invest in when practicing? Or do you mean how many balloons should you buy to keep in your inventory (for clients)?
@@YesEventDecor I have been practising with the cheaper ones but now looking to invest in the better quality balloons for my inventory/ upcoming balloon business but it is quite overwhelming deciding on how many, what colour and sizes to get.
Yeah I understand. I would start with the basic colors (white, black, yellow, red, purple, pink, blue, gold, and silver). You can get those in 5 inch, 9 inch, 11 inch, 24 inch, and 36 inch.
It really depends on what you are going to offer. If you’re offering balloons columns, I would only get 11 inch balloons. If you’re offering balloon garlands, you can get a range of sizes.
I usually order my balloons when I need them. My clients give me enough time to do that. If you anticipate having last minute requests, then definitely keep an inventory.
I wouldn’t buy too many balloons to start off with. Maybe just start off with a couple packs of each color. I purchased sooooooo many foil balloons when I first started. I still have many of them in my inventory.
You don’t want to “over” anticipate what clients will ask you for. Once you start getting business, you’ll see what requests you get. Then build your inventory off of that.

I’m sorry. I don’t fully understand your question. Are you asking if I could set up the event and then leave the key to the venue in a drop box for the client?
@@YesEventDecor Yes. It just seems like there is an easier way to do this without being so hands on. Especially post Covid..
@@CatinaWillis yeah I understand. Things are definitely different with COVID. I wish I could do that. But usually I’m not setting up alone. The caterer is there. The client may be there with family members. So I don’t setup alone and then the client comes afterwards.

@@dennisthurston1885 What kind of decorations do you want to do? In the beginning, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and CZcams. Pinterest will give you ideas and show you different color combinations. CZcams will teach you everything. You can literally learn how to do anything from CZcams. ☺️
I would say yes to everything , anytime someone wants and mentions a party . Girl I’m all I’n , my issue is the ideal client and business plan . Charging is difficult still after being a decorator 4 yrs working administration in Corp for the last 15 yrs I’m now starting to charge lol . Covid I was blessed and my business took off . now I’m mot sure lol but I do know god has the last word . ❤️

I was scared too! I mean absolutely terrified! Opening your own business is a scary scary thing. But just know that if God bought you to it, God will bring you through it. I had to let go of my fear and have faith.
Joshua 1:9 says “This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
