I just love Roy Orbison 🥰
The Poocharé sketch was ahead of its time. Sheer brilliance!
It was exactly of its tine. It perfectly encapsulates the whole 80s New Wave esthetic
Tell me about it. If I had a dime for every Tom, Dick and Harry that I see doing the Zoolander runway strut through the grocers market these days, well, I'd probably have enough dimes to buy a years supply of Poocharé.
How much a commercial Ad company charge then? Now? Half a million for a prototype? And they wrote it, produced it, and Levy acted in it like the pro he is at cost of that episode of SCTV. The most expensive item was getting a trained Rusky Wolfhound.
@@yomerocanot a real commercial.
I think it was a close parody of some ads done around 1980 for a jeans brand called Chardon. So it wasn't as exaggerated as you might think.
We need more Larry Seigel show!!!!!
They don't know, they don't knnnoooooowwww....
Mel's Rock Pile is one of my absolute favorite sketches.
The Late Great Roy Orbison rocked the house!
A superstar playing this little Canadian show and he did it with total class. Even did some schtick with Mel. Wow, what a cool guy. Oh, and the Poochare just killed!
That dog food commercial just about summed up the madcap 80s!
That commercial in the beginning was the best, the way he moved down the aisle. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome show and best musician on the series in my humble ...
Love SCTV ...
What a great show this was. Roy was awesome
One of my all time favorite tv shows , what a episode
Everything is "Thursday nights at 9:00" Everything.
Rick's Larry Siegel reminds me of a good friend of mine who has since passed on. New York City born and bred.
Always loved Canadian tv from 70, 80s when I lived.
I hope you’re still living
That Larry Seigel skit was based on the Rick's impression of dealing with NBC's Executives when they were in negotiations for moving to American TV, Coked Up Hollywood types that were so pumped up on Coke they talked so fast their brain couldn't keep up and then can't focus for 3 seconds, the bowl of Soup bit is pure AWESOME, calls his Mom to ask about something in a soup, then she askes him is he "seeing anybody"? Anybody that was around during the Coke years, Coke reduced Sex Drive and made Guys umm...where it was difficult to get "Simulated" and the outcome was somewhat "deflated".
Pet ad for dog food was so perfectly 80s
I spent the first 30 years of my life thinking Roy Orbison was blind.
You're definitely not alone - although I'm not sure if it took me quite that long to figure it out. 🕶️🤔😀
I thought he was for a while, too.
Nice to hear the song 🎶
4:22 Brenda's breathing 😂🤣😂
Brenda is A FREAK!!
Love Larry Seigel 😂😂😂😂
Always loved how SCTV would showcase musical acts. This and Fishin' Musician were my favorites. Incedently, as a joke o use to introduce myself as Rockin' Mel Slirrup. No one ever got the reference.
I initially thought Dave Thomas was playing Roy Orbison, lol. It was only when he started to sing that I realised it was the real Roy!
Haha! I thought it was Dave too!
possibly the single greatest episode of tv in history.
As a kid I didn't appreciate the humor of SCTV but now that I'm older and watching this I laugh at every skit because I understand the references now.
that's cuz your old - take a nap & maybe you'll figure it out!
Mercy
I often wonder if Fred Armisen was inspired by Rick Moranis. Some of Armisen’s characters are reminiscent of Larry Siegel.
They don't know, they don't knnnoooooowwww....
She sounds like a seal in heat! LOL!
sublime humor at it's best.
Sublime? Sublime is to elevate or exalt -to dignify or honour - work on it, kiddo
@@TAROTAI That's exactly what it does ace, but thanx for playin.
Dog food, dog foood, DOG FOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
"Again?!"
rick meranis funny too!
18:49 Pretty Woman 🎸🎶
One segment had Dr. John in a end of the line joint in the tropics. I think John Paul and the Raiders were spoofed in it as a washed up has been band. I can't find that one. Orbison was great, one of a kind.
Reruns of Fonzie! LOL!
5:59 Larry Seigel 😂🤣😂
1:39 Bob & Doug 😂🤣😂
John Candy at 10:01
SHUTUP AND LISTEN TO ME...SCTV WAS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER..U DONT KNOW...U DONT KNOW....
3:55 battle of the pbs stars 😂🤣😂
8:36 Mel's Rock Pile 😂🤣😂
Last name ... lol ... "Slurp" 😂🤣😂
Funny!
00:01 dog food 😂
Poochare: at one point in human existence, this was comedy
Is Roy wearing a rug?
That's his patented helmet made of fiberglass and hair
i wonder if anyone has gotten around to rereleasing all of the SCTV seasons/episodes on dvd, and removed all the laugh tracks. whoever decided they needed to add laugh tracks nearly killed the show.
22:32 roll ending credits 😂
