    Good video. Thank you. This is a lot better than my old X-Sight II. It’s only 720 Res with 25X optical zoom (50 X digital). That said, you can easily see .177 holes at 50 yds. However the image will be pixelated. I guess that’s what you get with 7 year old kit. I guess there is something to said for it still working. This Arken rig is nice.

    • @brucemcpherson8832
      @brucemcpherson8832  Před 6 měsíci +1

      There are no digital scopes that have as good a daylight image as even mediocre glass scopes. it's a matter of what's good enough for you're particular shooting. For me the Zulus is definitely good enough to for all my shooting. The only thing it would not be capable of is serious target shooting

    Nice video! Thank you so much. Do you have to keep your phone connected to the scope for the ballistic calculator to work?

    • @brucemcpherson8832
      @brucemcpherson8832  Před 6 měsíci +2

      The ballistic calculator can work in 2 different modes, one of which requires a continuous bluetooth connection to your phone and the other (which is most commonly used) does not require a continuous connection between the scope and the app
      The mode to be used is selected in the main menu of the scope.
      "Ballistic table call"mode involves entering ballistic data into the app, from which the app creates a ballistic table which is sent to the scope by bluetooth. Once that is done the scope and the phone are disconnected and all the ballistic calculations are done in the scope. The target is ranged and the ballistic calculator then provides a holdover mark on the reticle or shifts the reticle to the aiming point
      In "Real Time Ballistic Calculation" mode, ballistic data is entered into the app and when the target is ranged. that information is sent to the app, the ballistic calculation is performed and the ballistic solution sent back to the scope and the result displayed either as a holdover or reticle shift
      It appears that the benefit of the real time ballistic calculation mode is that wind data can be entered into the app and the resulting aiming mark will show windage as well as elevation

    • @brucemcpherson8832
      @brucemcpherson8832  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I can't answer that question precisely. How small a target that the rangefinder can measure depends on the size of the target and its range. It will work on targets like small birds if they are not too far away but it is unlikely to be able to range a small bird at several hundred yards

    • @brucemcpherson8832
      @brucemcpherson8832  Před 6 měsíci

      To use the ballistic calculator you do need a smart phone - but you don't need to have the phone permanently connected to the scope.
      The Arken ballistics app is on your phone and using the app, you enter the ballistic data for for the rifle/ bullet combination you want to use.
      The app then creates a ballistic table using that data, and it is then sent to your scope via bluetooth.
      Once that is done you don't need your phone anymore
      In use, you simply range the target using the laser rangefinder and the ballistic calculator in the scope uses the ballistic table to calculate the correct aiming point.
      To get this to work correctly you must have already zeroed the scope with the same bullet/pellet you plan to use, and the the zero range you enter in the app must be the same range at which you zeroed the scope

    Hello. please tell me how the ballistic calculator works on this model. same as on pard nv008s.
    Thank you.

    • @brucemcpherson8832
      @brucemcpherson8832  Před 8 měsíci

      It's a bit different from the PARD in that the ballistic data (muzzle velocity, scope height, zero distance, ballistic coefficient ) are entered into an app and that information sent to the scope by bluetooth, rather than the PARD method of directly entering the data into the scope. Also, the Arken can do the ballistic calculation in 2 ways. One is the holdover method (same as the PARD) where the aiming point is shown as a mark on the reticle. The arken can also operate is in dial in mode where the entire reticle moves so that centre of the reticle is the aiming point. Within the PiP box, only the dial in method is used which keeps the reticle centred in the PiP box

      You don't need a comma to fill in any of the data, just the full stop which is used as the decimal point, and given that you just used 3 of them in your question I strongly suspect that do have the ability fill in all the data required
