Just my two cents but if a grand jury refuses to indict someone no sports league should ban that player, not even for one game let alone a season or two. I also find it very odd these accusations only came to light after he wanted to leave the Texans. Massage therapists are well versed in what to do if someone becomes crass during a massage.
That's because the offenses might not rise to the level of criminal but still may have been misconduct. Its like telling a woman to suck your...., that's not criminal but your employer might not be happy about that kind of conduct.

Just so people know.....his contract paid him a huge signing bonus and made his salary for the season at around 1 million. They paid him that bonus knowing that if he got suspended for the year, he would only lose 1 million. I don't know what happened and I'm not here to judge but it sure looks like the Browns knew it was a real possibility that he could be suspended for the year.
Him being suspended for a "year", is not even close to an option. This is a civil case. At most, he'll miss the first 6-8 weeks.
Furthermore...deshaun Watson signed a fully guaranteed contract. 5 years, 230 million. Sure, his BASE SALARY for this year, is only 1 million but the other 229 are still fully guaranteed to him. He still received 44 million dollar signing bonus. It may APPEAR like they did this to help him or because they "care about him"...but they strictly and only did this, so they wouldn't potentially be wasting millions of dollars on him.
If he was still playing for the Texans? He would be losing 1.4 million EACH GAME! Now, he'll only lose 55K each game.

Once Watson did not get any criminal charges, their is no longer any threat of him being out of the league. He will be suspended between 6-10 games this season, probably 5 games after they appeal if it’s more than 6.
