Looks awesome. Did the black base also have pearl in it or as mid coat? Thinking about doing something similar on my bike this year but worried about a pearl ghost flame over the top of my base plus pearl mid coat then clear... would that be too much pearl make it look washed out?
Jon Stines: I always use a fresh Xacto blade and drag the knife gently during this process. The blade will make contact with the painted surface, but these light cuts will be filled in during the clear coat process.
How thick was the paint on the Harley Logo on gas tank? One or two light passes? How long to let it dry, fearing stencil will remove some of the letting. I'm trying to paint logo with TCP GLOBAL SpectraLusion. SpSpectraLusion.

Base coat is just black. Your idea will work just fine. You can do ghost flames on top of pearl.
What Black Paint do you use? Clear Coat? Very Nice!

You can try by replacing the silver pearl I used to airbrush the edges of the flames with: House of Kolor Mc00-Hp Mirror Relective Kosmic Chrome.

Over dilute the pearl so that you have more control of the amount of pearl. I did two light oasses
