Gavin became so incompetent later in the series. I wonder if Jared was the secret to stopping him from doing bad things.
Think about it. The others are all Yes Men interested in their own agendas(Hoover and Gavin's Guru are prime examples). Only Jared ever had the smarts required to both keep Gavin informed, the courage to tell him when he was doing something stupid, and demonstrated loyalty. You can see this in how Jared helps resolve the problems Pied Piper faces. We saw this even this most recent season as he we learn Jared protected Pied Piper from a potential but ethically bankrupt investor even financially astute Monica was willing to accept. The "This honey is too sticky" incident would have NEVER happened under Jared. Jared was the ONLY one willing to tell the Emperor he was wearing no clothes, and it was accepted because Jared's only agenda was what was best for both its leader and the company.
This scene proves how shitty typical screenwriting/character development could be: from one season to another - do the same sh@t but more, more . Make Gavin look like clown/dumber every day . Evolve Jared from weird in some cases guy to almost psychopath in latest series. Funny that Gilfoyle somehow avoided this stuff.
the most obvious case is friends tv series: made Joey complete idiot, Rachel total greedy bitch, moved Phoebie from cute strangness to complete weirdo, do almost same thing with Ross, etc

That's the thing with retarded billionaires. They are highly functional. Cunning. They can navigate issues. Very competent in their field. *But* that's worth _nothing_ when every one of their victories comes as a defeat for common sense and ethics. Many of them are sociopaths.

it's interesting, Until I saw this clip, it was only now that I realised that it was Jared who had actually spotted the opportunity to use the algo for enterprise, which made the whole pied piper proposition a massive and highly valuable company.
Through the Hooli courting and offer, that cemented that direction for the company, just without Hooli involved.
The algo would have been a clever gimmick poorly used, but he was the entire reason for all their success.
And then Richard proceeds to not listen to Jared for the rest of the series.
Jared telling Gavin about the possibilities of Pied Piper kind of sets off the entire company
Given Jared's business development skills, people skills and his ability to recognize potential, he could've easily ruled silicon valley.
Jared is only decent person at Pied Piper. The rest range from douchebag to evil monster.
They made Jared more cartoonish - and funnier as the series progressed
Zach woods was the MVP of this show. So much that Thomas middleditch got jealous and TJ Miller called him the MVP

Some phones, mine for example, shut the back light off when you hold the phone up to your ear while making a phone call, not sure why it does it but it just does. That may have been what's going on there, or HBO didn't care enough about the little details which is very out-of-character of them.
