I like your passion. But I have eaten both. They are basically the same pepper. Synonymous and interchangeable. If you gave someone a scotch bonnet and told them it was a habanero, they would believe you.
That’s the bs I hate, they want chefs to be arrogant but then they also want chefs to not be arrogant, AND they didn’t come here to get a psychological analysis from a doofus, stick to cooking not picking apart people you barely know.
Show me the sweat. Or the blush. Or the loss of vocabulary. He handled the heat just fine. But he is aware of the average palette, that’s why he is a judge and not a competitor. If you want to see a judge that can’t handle heat, watch Gordon Ramsey doing Hot Ones. He is a wimp.
Restaurants have fooled you. You get the thing with habanero in the name and you think you are actually handling the heat of a habanero. You are eating a slightly spicy dish that was kissed with habanero so they could put the word in the name. It is a marketing trick. Go to the produce section of your grocery story. Find the habaneros. Buy one. Just one. Any one, don’t get picky. And after you have legally purchased your pepper, eat it whole. You will never say something as foolish as “Habanero is a pretty standard flavor” ever again.
@@geoffreyokrongly916 I’ve cooked with the pepper before my guy. I’m not eating them as snacks though. But that’s not what happened in the video so this is a very dumb comment.
They are closely related and share many similarities but scotch bonnets have a sweeter fruitier flavor.Habaneros have a more intense heat and smoky flavor. Not the same.
whose this masterchef judge. his comments very unprofessional. and not knowing the difference between scorch bonnet vs habanero makes him looks super dumb to be as a judge. kick him already canada

If bro considers a scotch bonnet one of the hottest peppers on Earth, Imagine him trying a Trinidad Scorpion, Or a Ghost Pepper, Or the worst, The Carolina Reaper. Bro would probably collapse
Takes a bite of a really hot dish, still calm and smiling.
I would be on my way to the hospital 😅

Habenero and scotch bonnet are not the same
Yea
They're not the same however they're used interchangeably in the culinary world because they look similar and produce similar heat.
and trevor proceeds to win the whole thing
Habaneros are the same as scotch bonnets? God damn, the Jamaicans would lose their minds if they heard this blasphemy.
Luckily for the contestants, Jamaican cuisine is terrible so this will never come up.
