- In this video I share my first impressions of the Portable Painter MICRO which was kindly sent to me by them to try out.
I decided to use the Micro palette for a quick gouache sketch of a boat. I've been wanting a micro palette with more mixing space for so long. I'll tell you my thoughts about whether this lived up to my needs! #gouache #palette #pleinair

Nice painting Sarah! I also have the micro and love it for my 8+ hour hikes on the Appalachian Trial because it's light and tiny. I actually like it more than the other one, the other one just falls off my leg and I kept spilling the water all over myself. =(
I could see this one being excellent for long hikes! Plus sometimes it's nice to limit colors like this

I’m glad you showed how this works. I’ve eyed these tiny palettes. I wear a Kavu pack so I have space to carry.
I've seen plenty of people use them for watercolor but I personally prefer it for gouache!

It varies every time I use it, but here I used lemon yellow, yellow ochre, perm. alizarin crimson, prussian blue, jet black, white

I bought the portable painter on your recommendation and use gouache in it- I love it!!
Just a quick question- how do you protect your brushes while traveling? I always worry they'll be bent out of shape since usually I don't have time for them to dry before packing to leave. Thank you!
Most of the time I use a brush holder (the kind that is a roll-up thing)
Some brushes can fit in a travel toothbrush holder or eye glass case.
I’ve watched twice. Are you letting the gouache dry? If so, is it crumbling? If not, how are you keeping it moist? If it’s moist, how do you keep it from being a mess in your bag? I have dried gouache with glycerin and it stays semi-moist
This was just my first thoughts about it, not showing how I use it. Those videos will come!
