    Hi and thanks, Lost Horizon Fishing for sharing. I am glad to know I am not the only one who experienced my kayak capsized and thrown out on the beach when I kayak to see an 1800s shipwreck--- 3;29. My kayak is a recreational sit-on kayak, so it is not made for when the waves push it like a surfboard. Lesson learned. Thank you. 🙋‍♀🙋‍♀🛶🛶

      If you do beach launches on regular basis, you will definitely end up in the water now and then, but that’s all part of the fun! As I mentioned in my video, paddling back to the beach is always trickier than paddling out. BTW I subscribed to both of your channels!🎣😃

    Great video and safety tips for the protection of kids and surfers in your landing zone. I’m in Durban with 2 Stealths. We have rough shore breaks here. Steath has grown lots, my yaks are about ten years old. Glad to see in Florida. Rick G

    Thanks for the detailed explanation DT🤙🏼🤙🏼it gets pretty sketchy out there and preparation is key especially reading the tide and conditions to prevent from flipping over.

    Nice tips on launching. Definitely thinking about getting a stealth. Ive flipped my hobie outback in shorebreaks trying to launch and it aint fun.

    Nice surf video. Only recently did I realize some kayaks could be very difficult to launch and land in surf. By luck, my Revolution 13 wasn't an issue going out in 4 foot surf when I took it on vacation. I had no experience so I just backed in to land exactly like going out. The Revo13 moves and turns fast with just the paddle when the drive and rudder are stowed. No way I could face in and surf in as my kayak, pushed by a wave, would be like throwing a dart backwards. The big ProAngler might be too much like paddling a teacup shape in the surf.

      I had an accident in the surf with my Revolution 13, where I flipped in really shallow water and broke three Phenix fishing rods! That was the incident that got me fired up to purchase the Stealth Fisha 555 that I currently fish out of.🎣😃

      @@losthorizonfishing107 Those long thin ocean kayaks look good. They are so full of water after a wave that I wondered if they had scuppers. I wanted the Rev13 Mirage drive so I would have a strong propulsion, or paddle, back to shore if things got dicey.

    Thanks for the good tips. What's your take on the 480. Is it as good as people say. Stay well. Happy fishing.

      Hi Derek… the Stealth Fusion 480 is awesome. It has the same features as the fiberglass Stealths for literally half the price.🎣😃

    Great tips. How to prevent any damage to the rudder when going out or in the beach?

    • @losthorizonfishing107
      @losthorizonfishing107  Před rokem +1

      Hey Bao… sorry for the late response. To protect your rudder when returning to the beach, you need to jump out of your kayak in waist deep water and immediately grab the back of your kayak, so that a wave or white water doesn’t wash it up on the beach with the rudder and peddle drive in the locked down position. If you have time, you can pull up rudder and peddle drive before you jump out, but often times there may not be enough time to that in the shore break. The important thing is to immediately take control of your kayak when you jump out and make sure your bow is pointing straight at the beach. You definitely don’t want your kayak to turn sideways in the shore break.
      Safety Tip: When standing next to your kayak, never allow yourself to get in between the beach and your kayak. If this happens the next wave or whitewater that hits your kayak is going to knock you down and if you are in shallow water, you could easily be injured.🎣😃

    One good video , I have an ocean kayak ..been surf fishing 15 plus years .. My tip ,make sure your oar is tied to your kayak .I had a rouge wave hit me once kayak flipped and held on to the oar was like being in a washing machine , but i held on to my oar saved me . another tip riding waves back in , If Kayak turns to much put your oar on other side of the turn it will turn you on the wave to ride in smooth .

      Hi Jason…. the Ocean Kayak is a good choice for through the surf, open water fishing! I always use my paddle leash when I’m paddling out and while fishing, but I disconnect it when I paddle back to the beach. There were a few times where I needed to jump out of the kayak coming into the beach and the paddle leash would somehow end up between my legs. One time it actually pulled my feet out from under me!🎣😃
