  • ►Changing your Audi's oil is an essential part of proper car care, especially on a performance car like the S3 or even the A3. Engine oil is designed to last for a specific period of time before its molecules begin to wear beyond a point of sufficient lubrication. Leaving old oil in an engine for too long will cause gunk to build up, restricting oil flow and potentially damaging your engine. Replacing your oil yourself is also a great way to reduce service costs and improve your own skills.
    Follow along with this DIY as Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's professional DIY'er, takes you through how to replace the oil and oil filter on an MQB-platform Audi A3 and S3.

    I bought everything to do this myself! I’m going to do it in about two hours from now! I’ll update and let you know how it went 😅
    Audi A3 8v s line facelift and I’m done paying near 200 for an oil change haha
    Edit: just got it done lol the only thing that was hard was putting the skid plate back on since I was using a floor jack 😅

    i used to work in a shop with lots of used cars to inspect and if they pass inspection or done with repairs we had to change the oil on it. when you talked about headed home for some lunch or “it’s been about 3 days” it reminded me of one of the technicians i worked with who would often take days to change the oil on his cars 😂😂 so true

    I'm seeing a lot of people online using a siphon for removing the old oil and someone even mentioned that Audi recommends this method. I would especially appreciate hearing from a certified tech regarding this or anyone else with extensive car knowledge.

      Great question.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před rokem

      Yes this is a method you can use. We have a unit designed to vacuum the oil out of the engine - it works well, does take some time to do a full change but is certainly very easy to do compared to doing it on the ground. You can hook it up to shop air or use the built-in vaccum pump. www.fcpeuro.com/products/fluid-extractor-cta-6510

    GREAT VIDEO .....HOW MUCH OIL IN THTHIS ENGINE? ... READE BELOW FOR ALL OF THE MISSING INFO" might have been a great point to make or list in your description on the first line ... since it is one of the first things you do when prepping this type of service. 1.8L TFSI (8VS57X) = 4.9L (5.2 qt.) | 2.0L TFSI (8VS58L) = 5.5L (5.8 qt.)

    Will the oil still drain completely with a front-only jack lift of the car?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před rokem

      Yes, but in this situation only because the drain plug is to the rear and this helps to drain more oil.

    How many miles for an oil change on a ‘17 A3

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před rokem

      The factory recommends 10,000 miles. We usually recommend 5,000 miles or just slightly more, depending on the driving conditions the car sees, and how you drive.

    Do you have to have a new drain plug or can I reuse old one

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před rokem +1

      Typically the original drain plug can be re-used once or twice, but as it is fairly inexpensive and made of plastic, replacing with new on each change is recommended.
