Marc, like you I’ve wanted to hate Roja. Fake perfumer, derivative releases, free bottles…but the quality of ingredients is extremely high and the work the ghost perfumers draw inspiration from (mostly Guerlain) are some of the best ever made. I’m not ashamed to say if I see one on deep discount, I’ll grab it. Manhattan EDP smells like Heritage with tobacco. Got it for 50% off and it’s a killer for fall! Same with Creation E.
Marc, your reviews are ALWAYS perfection in the way you break down fragrances. You are also 100% honest with your reviews and I appreciate that. You do not kiss up to the brands like most of the other reviewers. If you followed the other reviewers and said that every fragrance was great and that every fragrance house is producing ground breaking fragrances, you would have millions of followers. You are not a sell out and you have integrity. I wish more fragrance reviewers were like you.

I don't blame the industry that much as I've had interactions with many of them but there are def. some brands that want that script. It's the influencer that wants to continue to be relevant within the community with free bottles ahead of launches. It's feeding ego.

Creed Erolfa is amazing for the summer!

Just picked up 75 ml of Erolfa the other for a good deal.
I only have 7.5s from Roja. Got them a few years ago. Glad I did.
I would get a partial of Oceania if I found it at a good price too.

i got a cheap bottle a year or so ago. i think its good, i dont regret it. i pretty much agree with everything you said, and yes its definetely not a beast lol
i do get good projection for a few hours in the heat though
I do think it's worth purchasing when it's half retail. That's why I'll get a bottle eventually but not full retail. I'll be patient and find someone that has a bottle half full or something like that.
This is Rojas low end too. The bespoke line is ridiculously priced. But I love oceania! Burlington 1819 has been my favorite fresh roja so far. Much more masculine too

I agree with you, the opening Citrus is really good, but on my skin that's gone after 5-10 minutes and it gets super, super powdery. Not for me
must be those florals, violet and iris in this will get powdery.

I think people mix Ocean and Oceania (in English, those aren’t the same 😊). Yes to construction and complexity, no to Erolfa comparison (unless you meant the brief for the creation was somewhat similar: islands in the Pacific vs French shores?). Great scent, yes, overpriced but that’s Roja’s marketing. I agree Roja always has inspiration from the past, but the level of perfumery is amazing, to those who understand it, of course (which is really, I think, what you said in your review). 🤷🏼

You just reminded me I need to get erolfa for next spring/summer. As far as the Roja. I’ll pass. I’ve only tried Vetiver which was highly touted and it reminded me too much of Grey Vetiver. Idk maybe it’s because I don’t have the most advanced nose. Plus the performance was meh. I used like 1/2-3/4 of a Luckyscent sample vial and my coworkers couldn’t smell it unless I put where I sprayed right up to their face. Only thing that was good about it was the quality. I would honestly probably rather wear Grey Vetiver because it’s more vitalizing.
Lots and I mean lots of the scents from this brand are not worth it.

Remaking Classics is not a crime, imho. But the claim that the house of Roja is the OG creator, is. And I consider some prices from houses like Roja, criminal! That's why I love houses like Mancera, Nishane, Montale, ArmourOud, etc.... Reasonably priced. But if I will ever get a Roja perfume, it will be Amber Aoud and Enigma. I smelled a clone of the former (blew me away!), and I like the notes of the latter. But the prices are eye-watering! Marc, I can't stop following your Chanel and pages, especially your reviews. They are priceless. But it's like you are slow on LISTS these days. Please give us some LISTS, once in a while. Thanks, and keep up the great honest works. ❤
there's lots of fantasy stories with the Roja house, I understand why brands lie for marketing but I don't trust brands once this is applied. I'll see what I can do with the lists lol
I don't own any Roja bottles or even samples. This does sound intriguing though. I own a decent amount of Creed samples, but not Erolfa. Want to check that out as well.

this one gets a lot of love in the UK fragrance communities. smells high quality yes, great opening with realistic citrus yes. but after that it gets increasingly floral, musky, borderline powdery & slightly feminine leaning to my nose. the hit of lemon & lime off the top indeed seems to reference Erolfa, first thing i thought when i smelled it. whereas Erolfa is a true aquatic Oceania is this powdery musky thing. smells quality enough but not for me.

His years with Guerlain he was a marketing man and doing much pr. He was never a perfumer. Even after leaving guerlain he started his own pr firm. That's what he does is marketing, and does it well. There's nothing showing he creates perfume, just like olivier creed and pierre montale.

Marketing and history aside, they do have some bangers. 1819 is my fav. Would love to see more of your reviews on other Roja fragrances cause you keep it real 👍

It's wild to hate a brand for marketing
I hate the brand for several reasons that I mentioned in this video among the marketing.
Grown to enjoy this one, agree 100% Creed Erolfa wins over this if having to choose

Depends. I do not love either. Isola is iso E super dominant. Oceania is fine but I prefer others in that style. I actually like, and bought, 1819 Burlington most when I tested those three next to each other. The funky cumin against the perfect grapefruit got me.

Here's how I interptret Oceania:
The best petrichor "after the rain" scent I've yet smelled. Not a true maritime/oceanic scent like EROLFA, which is the best of that oceanic genre (best "salty sea spray" scent) ever. And yes, I definitely consider EROLFA an Oceanic/marine scent. I know Fragrantica doesn't list the accords of "marine" or "oceanic", and that is a near criminal omission. Even EROLFA's cousin Millesime Imperial has marine and oceanic accords listed prominently. EROLFA is much more marine/oceanic than MI. Anyway, Oceania is the freshly wet concrete of the marina after a rain shower moved through before you get in your sail boat and get underway. The rain stops, the sun comes back out and the rain water starts evaporating in whafts up to your nose, mixing with the scent of the nearby flowers and greenery. Very nice. And just think, you then get to get in your sailboat and experience the salty sea spray in the face that is EROLFA!

Another house I could care less about free bottles. I like the house, although the pricing on some lines is outrageous. Oceania IS NOT an acquatic at all. All I get is iris and soap. Was a very hard pass to me.
I also don't consider Guerlain premium, although I really enjoy the house. Its a well done house tho.

All I get from this one is the citrus opening, then a short shot of aromatics, then POOF, it's completely gone. I know I have bad skin for fragrance performance, but Roja frags are the worst on me.
So the florals are lost on you 😆
$400.00 or so is probably a good deal for Roja advertising.
