As mentioned before in the comments Antique fishing tackle has become very collectable. One reason for the high prices is that these items were often used and lost and tossed. They were never deemed collectable. I think the condition and quality of your tackle would fetch a pretty penny and I think you really got a great deal! Great stuff!!!!
Not a collector, but I have found old lures at yard sales and have made a few extra bucks selling them to collectors. With that said the Lure marked "CCBCO LURE" has an NRA stamp on it . That is the National Recovery Act of 1933. The NRA only lasted from 1933 to I believe 1935. You made a score with this one.
Vintage lures are very collectible and can be pretty expensive, but condition is everything. Having the original boxes is a big plus. I would say it was well worth it. Nice find.
Reminded me of my Dads old tackle box…boy!, I wish I had taken notice of all his equipment when he passed away….at the time, I was much younger and did not realize the sentimental value of all of it…let too much get away in the estate sale….thanks for this fun video!
Nice haul MagDad. Well worth the $30. I’d love to see that one with the hole in it, in action under water. I imagine it would dance up and down wildly every time you tug the line.
You scored a nice find there! I'm a huge fisherman and love old lures, especially hand made wood one's. From what I can see I would definitely look into those if you still have them. Definitely 100% nice find though great job. That flat fish you thought maybe is hand painted by owner i don't think it is from what I can see it looks original. Back in the old day's red and white orange and black were very common colors. And I agree that one is a creek chub jigger lure.
Take care of the boxes, generally they are worth more then the lures. Everybody threw them away when they put them in their tackle boxes. You can become a member of N. F. L. C. C. For approximately 30.00 a year you get a lot of info. Plus you have a library to help identify. All the hooks were referred to as meat hooks on the flatfish. DINNER! You did not get hurt on the price. Thank You
That was some really cool stuff in there. Im not a collector of fishing items but that could be a collectors starter set, lol. I really like the tackle box. I think you do pretty good!
Fantastic variety of lures there. Been fishing all my life but I probably only have a couple of cheap lures as I've always used live bait. Am now having a sudden interest in lures 😄😉
The weedless ones with ears look like a mouse Nice collection for the money Would be cool to see the one with the scoop and hole being pulled through the water I say it is a trolling type lure
It would seem you did all right on that purchase. The articulating lure you found with the teeth marks I found one exactly like it along the Potomac River about 50 years ago. I still have it in my tackle box. As you said, some of those lures would be risked trying to fish off the side of a stream with trees, reeds, grasses and rocks I'd lose them in a minute. Now a boat in a lake or a big pond would be good. So cool you found the OEM boxes.
Great find. I envy how well you do at sales and swap meets. I dont know much about lures, but I have seen some vintage hand painted examples that look beautiful. The value and interest in your lures is heightened because they still reside in their original boxes. Most any collectable item that is still in it's original container is likely to be more valuable than one without its container. The container helps establish the items provenance. In my experience this general rule holds for items as varied as antique ammunition, hobby kits and tools.
Magdad that red and white south bend bait lure looks alot like a lure I have that belonged to my WW2 navy signalman uncle Harvey. I got it in the mid 1960s when he passed away along with two small fishing rod's that I don't think is plastic, but don't know what else to call it.
I'm pretty sure the handwriting is from the manufacturer. A small company would have a ton on the same box to put different lures in and would mark the boxes as they filled them.
I think you scored on that box ! I’m not a collector but I know old lures and fetch some good money but the important part is if they can catch the fish. Great video Magdad! Thank You for sharing 😃
Yes $30 Was A Good Investment . That Flatfish That Got Painted is older . The Connected Hooks Like That Are An Older Style ! The Orange Is Very Good For Yellow Perch ! That Creek Chub Pikie Minnow is Famous for Catching the Old Record Largemouth Bass . But Contraversy ( because He May Have Used A Different Lure and Changed The Type or Color to Get Different Free Ones .) of 22lbs 4oz. By George Perry in 1932 . Although His Measurements Equal The Size Formula of 32lbs ! He Said the Fish Fed His Family for A Week ! So Maybe it was 32 lbs !
Heck of a deal Magdad! Some of those old lures can be worth a fortune. I don’t know the first thing about them though. Those old Coleman backpacking rigs are pretty cool too. I think those bite marks are more likely plier marks from trying to get fish de hooked from all those barbs. That’s why I don’t use those anymore. 😆 Take care.
That's a cool find there. Some of those vintage lures can fetch a decent price. Especially if there's a box to go with em. I don't know much about them though. Heddon is one of the brands that come up a lot in conversation
@@357magdad I'd love to triple my money too haha. That's profit there. I think you did well, and you'll at least make something. The real looks interesting. Would like to see that thing cleaned up and shine.
Definitely teeth marks. I do collect a little bit lures with their boxes are worth more. Wood lures are more expensive. Good find He definitely likes orange
Looks like a big pike hit some of them. If you’re not interested in keeping them you should try to put them on eBay. Take lots of pictures for your ad. You’ll be surprised at how much money each of the lures will get you. I had a friend that found his old tacklebox from his childhood and got $1500 for one Lure
My friend you just found a treasure this time. 😃 Try to remove the rust from the hooks, don’t replace it. Blitz the body of the lures. Do some research on those lures, they are expensive and collectors love it.
Saw an empty creek chub box on eBay for $30 and one with the lure (slightly different paint pattern) for over $60. That’s just the one I searched. I think it’s fair to say you did okay with $30 for everything you got.
Maybe its just me but the lure you tried to clean up and the yellow box red and yellow south bend are different sizes of the same design, also the redish color around the eye is the same as the south bend.
the question is did you get $30.00 worth of Fishing Tackle Lures and the rest that went with it Boy did you score you got more than $ 30.00 worth of Lures just the 3 boxs that had the original Lures are worth more than what you paid BTW no Chuck today is he on Vacation LOL ... hey Mr Magdad have a great Sunday and a quiet Labor day weekend hope to see your next video on Sunday
Test out the hood scoop one to see how it moves as it’s pulled along. Could be interesting! It seems kind of expensive to me, but I don’t collect lures. So I don’t know. How is the box?
I'm scared to put it in the water! A very similar Jigger lure with the hole sold for $47 on ebay. The box is rusty on the outside, but clean on the inside.

Same here. Have found quite a few old lures and turned over for a decent return. Not a collector, but they’re fun and very interesting.
Vintage lures are very collectible and can be pretty expensive, but condition is everything. Having the original boxes is a big plus. I would say it was well worth it. Nice find.
I think I got a chance to triple my money!
You might triple the cost on just one or two of the vintage lures, especially with the box art cartons.

My dad died when I was young and I also let things go that I wish I'd kept!
The boxes are in great shape, just one of those might be worth more than what you paid.
I hope you're right!
Congratulations on 10k!😃
Thanks Tony! I plan to do a special 10K episode!
Very interesting...love the boxes and the lure that is designed to shoot water thru it... I'd think u got your money's worth plus some... good stuff!!
Oh congratulations on 10k! Sweet

Hi Magdad , That Bass Oreno is older and Wood . Nice Especially With The Box ! The Çreek Chub Jigger Lure is Cool ! Never Seen one Before .
Two of the painted lures are Bass Orenos.

Nice haul MagDad. Well worth the $30.

It was advertised as the only lure that wiggles on the surface.

Nice find! I have my grandfather's tackle box full of the stuff we fished with back in the 1970s in northern Wisconsin. To me it is priceless.
It's great that you still have his tackle box! I never knew my dad's father, but I have his bamboo flyrod.
Wow! Very Impressive. Great looking vintage lures. You did well for $30
Thanks Robert! I'm glad I decided to invest the $30!
Amazing finds. Time to make some rods with those reels!
I'm probably gonna sell most of it. I did clean up the Swiss Swing and do some fishing with it.
I would consider that a good find as well as a good deal. Thanks for the video sir.
Thanks Terry! You never know what you'll find at the next yard sale!

Very interesting purchase Magdad! Pretty cool some came in the original box. Plus the fact you got it all for only $30 is a great buy!😀👍

I stream fish for trout and smallmouth bass. I use spinners and floating Rapala minnows.
The weedless ones with ears look like a mouse Nice collection for the money Would be cool to see the one with the scoop and hole

The one with the scoop could be worth $50. I'm scared to put it in the water!
I think you made some good buys. I don't have much like yours always fished with live bait. I always get myself in trouble with those triple hooks.
Thanks Glen! I usually creek fish with a spinner or a floating Rapala minnow.

The fishing rods might be solid fiberglass. I think tubular fiberglass became popular later.
I'm pretty sure the handwriting is from the manufacturer. A small company would have a ton on the same box to put different lures in and would mark the boxes as they filled them.
That makes sense!
Thanks for all the lurid detail. Well worth the $30.
