Any time I have a relief valve going off I always change all 3 expansion tank, relief valve and feed valve to avoid call backs have had to many issues with feed valves getting clogged open and over pressures system especially if they over 5 years old
💯
Why didn’t Daniel check the expansion tank? The bad expansion tank is the reason the relief valve blew in the first place… A good technician is always aware of his surroundings
He may have missed the st-12. But that 60 was probably ok when he was there.
When I started in the early seventies there was just an empty tank that they use for an expansion tank no diaphragm😊 It was always mounted high up on the ceiling. We would take them out. Put expansion tanks. With the rubber Bladder.😊
Thanks for the info I was about the galvanized hanger but see it I like how you pay close attention to detail .
Nice looking job ... Thx for posting ...
It’s about time you did something right lol lol no you are the best i learn so much from your video i wish I knew half as much as you did thanks again god bless you and your family and your workers 🥊🥊🥊🥊
Awesome friend very Pleasant

Brilliant
Oh My God! Your video is really Enormous Graceful Frame
Cool look
Baaam! Excellent!
Very nice
That expansion tank was brutal, at least it was accessible
Decent & sweet,This is alluring
Super unbelievable Friend
Love you
Nice video you have there
great! Have considered Master Class
#LoveAmericanMade Nice work Mikey Pipes. A thin strip of cardboard between the copper and hanger will keep the metals from interacting.
Would’ve liked to hear you smooth over the customer with them digging into why it wasn’t caught on the initial service call… it would be good to get tips for covering call backs from one of the best in the field 🤘🤘🇺🇸🇺🇸
Mike, sometimes when there’s a valve and no way to get the water out I’ll drill a hole in the tank and catch the water in a bucket. Might take a couple more minutes but now water exploding everywhere and lightens the tank weight as well.
Dont forget to pump up the st12 thermal expansion tank to match domestic cold pressure
@@PipeDoctor nice !
Caught just in time! Home owner was almost getting flooded with that failed expasion tank poorly supported!😱
I always got to keep the dry boots :-) :-)
I noticed lots of used paint cans near the furnace. A no no, because if any are flammable and they are old enough to leak. My Next door neighbor had a fire in his basement because of this.
Superlike
Please say you did grab tape and separate the hanger from the copper! Otherwise awesome! Great job!
"Whoa"
You are literally god
Do you have the Rigid mini press rings on your truck yet? a must have
Take the pressure off the system Mikey pipes!🤣
hey mike. What caused the over pressure condition in the first place?
Alex M&M heating has 60 extrol tanks.
Nice Work As Always : > )
You know it's a good video when other mike shows up.
AHHHHH honey! stunning
Mike, are those expansion tanks refurbished some how or just go to be recycled?...
Liked the Spanish lesson, maybe next time how about Yiddish 😁
Keep up the good work
The drain on the larger expansion tank, shouldn’t it be facing the sump pump pit??
I received the package for the guessing game on your live chats
📦 Mikey pipes
Thanks for the hat /shirt swag and stickers!!!!!!!
Just shy of 35000 buddy WTG
Well in the long run we all make mistakes is when you make more than one or two cuz when they're the problem just remember that we're only human
Could it be possible that the tank failed after Daniel was there ?
There is shortage for expansion tank
Do those foam insulation pipe wraps really help with energy savings / heat loss? Wondering if it's worth investing in some to wrap the copper lines in the basement.
Sure, what do you think you would have if all those copper pipes had fins on them?...
Yes it does
So did you go back and put a dialectric in between the steel and the copper on the little expansion tank? The internet provides lots of info eh?
We can't get Extrol 30's or 60's. We are now installing Watts expansion tanks as that's all we can get. With 6500 customers, we go thru 10+ expansion tanks per week between installs and service. I have to say, Extrol's quality has gone downhill. We warrantied a bunch only a year old with pinhole leaks.
If your ever in the Bronx. I have about 40 #60’s in stock for you
Just got the video, was this a April fool's joke?🤣
Maybe you should cut a expansion tank open so people can see what's inside ;-)
"brilliant"
Did he say walls or balls ? Lmao
Is it a good practice to have a valve in the line to the expansion tank? If someone accidentally or not knowing better closes that valve there is no working expansion tank.
Saves so much time bleeding air. It’s a sin if you don’t put a valve in.
Danny poops a lot needs a spank'n!
Thanks again for the videos!

Stay safe.
Retired (werk'n)keyboard super tech. Wear your safety glasses!
Hey Mikey , so did you charge for that call or not ?
I'm curious as to how he handles this situation as well.
I'd guess parts should be paid for by the customer because they were needed one way or the other, but labor might be a different story.
Good tips nice change out and now I understand why I get no love ❤️ from the Latin lady’s 😂
✋😎🤚
I assumed you would also replace the relief valve again since it was dripping…🤷♂️…also you could have wrapped the copper with Blue Monster tape since you didn’t have electrical tape, or just cut a PVC coupling in half?
valve handle between extrol tank can be removed to prevent accidental closing.
Did you refund her for the relief valve?
Why would you? You got a new valve -
And my question is--- If the bladder is compromised, isn't the air valve exposed to water? Then why don't plumbers remove the valve stem, let the pressure and water leakout, and then remove the much lighter tank???? Time??
Where's the party going to be when we hit 50K?
NEXT TIME YOU REMOVE EXPANSIONS TANK USE A LARGE GARAGE BAG

She's a leaker. Mikey pipes took a bath. Everyone has done that before.
sorry for laughing.
Don’t know if you’ll respond to this but anyways, did that woman’s response tick you off a bit or run of the mill uneducated response?
First....
I'd like to see you line up a few 'defective' expansion tanks and pump the bladder up to pressure and see how much water is pushed out. Then check the pressure the next week and see if it's static.
I know from pump service that almost all bladder tanks lose pressure over time.
Come on man, do you replace your tires when they look flat? Nope. You get the pump out and tire gauge and put air back in.
You busted yourself when you pulled the Schrader valve and H2O started coming out of the inlet side.
IF the bladder failed, no water would drain and the tank would stay heavy.
Wagos suck. Pressure crimps suck. If you aint sweatin', you're lazin'.
You didn't test, you guessed. The tank was good. Prove me wrong.
I was gonna comment the same thing. Clearly signs that the tank was still good. It would of been a lot easier to drain the tank and recharge it
Ive recharged 20+ year old well tanks with no issues. manufactures will tell you on any bladder style tank that they should be routinely drained down and checked for pressure
@@PipeDoctor
True Mike. More correctly to check tank pressure the system needs to be drained to below tank (aka normal cold operating) pressure to overcome the pressure that may force water into the bladder area. Amtrol says pressure should equal normal system pressure. For domestic water systems tank pressure is set 2-3 psi below cut-in pressure.
Didn't mean to start a pissin' contest. But dropping system pressure and checking tan k pressure should be SOP. If the tank is inverted with Schrader facing the floor and you get a stream of water, tank is definitely borked. Could have prevented a return visit and a pissed off customer. Dat der tank coulda' put a few gallons of the guy you voted for gas in da' tank to drive to Yonkers. Lol!
So he pumps the tank up and leaves and a week later it’s empty and the relief is leaking and the customers got no heat; was it worth it to “test”. No, if a tanks low replace it.
@@PipeDoctor Weird because it actually does
A licensed professional should check the complete system, including the
expansion tank, yearly and more frequently as the system ages. Checking
the precharge allows a small quantity of air to escape and can result in an
insufficient air charge. Always check the precharge while the tank is isolated
and empty of water, and be sure to maintain the proper precharge whenever
the tank is inspected. Monitor the tip of the indicator cap for discoloration
(Figure 3) in addition to regular product inspection. Contact the installer
or a plumbing professional if indicator cap is discolored; tank replacement
is required.
