Thanks for this one! Squire was one of my many times over Great Grandfathers.
You’re welcome! Great connection!
He was ours too... thru Jane VanCleve...
You got the proper citations?
Squire’s son, Samuel Boone was one of my ancestors. His younger brother was Daniel. He served in the American Revolution whose occupation was a gunsmith. His great granddaughter Mary Ann married my gr x2, a descendant of the Royal Brandenburg-Hohenzollern family. Many of my relatives still reside in Eastern Ky, mostly in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
I believe Squire was injured with a tomahawk as well at some point. Supposedly a tomahawk split his skull and they treated it by somehow fixating two board on each side of his head to allow the bone to heal. I was a tour guide at Squire Boone Caverns in southern Indiana, where he is currently laid to rest. His bones were discovered in a sinkhole cave where he has buried. When they found his bones and sent them to be confirmed, they used the scar in the skull, as well as other injuries he sustained in his life, as a way to identify as well as DNA testing. You can in fact still take tours of the cave. It is a guided tour and they give a lot of info on Squires life. They’ve also rebuilt the grist mill on the original foundation and you can see a demonstration on how they made corn meal.
That’s pretty cool. Need to check out a tour!
"The Forgotten Boone" That is the title of the book you need to write! Very impressive and inspiring gentleman. Thank you for this very interesting video into the storied Boone family!
My relative, John Snoddy was led through Cumberland Gap by D. Boone, was a resident of Fort Boonesbourgh, bought land in KY(near the Hickman Creek area) from Daniel and Rebecca. He also fought Indians at that Creek I mentioned. Before, he lived in Rowan, N.C., and his house was burned by Tories. I trace back to The Great Pennsylvania Wagon Road through him, and back to the Snodgrass area of Scotland, which borders England, back to a Samuel Snoddy. My grandmother was Wanda Jo Snoddy on my dad’s side. John Snoddy was a founder of Richmond, KY too.
Squier is my ninth grandfather
Great ancestor!

Thank you for this. Squire is my 7th gr grndpa.
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
You have citations?
@corntrollio854 traces back to my mom's side. Nora Dell Hoover Hacket (my 2nd grgrma) was the daughter of Thomas Hoover(3rd), who was the son to Sarah Ann scholl Hoover, who was the daughter of Harriet Rite Boone and traces back to Squire "Elder" Boone the 3rd as my 7th grgrndfthr). Also, why does this matter to you.. seen you ask the same question to everyone else. You related to him? And if so where are your citations.
Squire Boone Sr is my 7th great-grandfather as well. So, we are 8th cousins. Squire Boone Jr is my 6th great-grandfather.
My mother was born in Covington bless you and your family
I'm a descendant of Squire...He's like my seventh generation great grandfather....I have always enjoyed hiking, being in the trees, and often thought of him and Daniel when I'm in nature. Remarkable people I am proud of....Squire was quite accomplished for his age....wish you'd tell more facts about Squire.....not about you....
Daniel Boones brother Samuel was my 8th great grandfather
Great connection!

If you look back for Daniel... there was a terrible action taken against two of his children by their church because they married someone outside "the church " membership.
Very interesting
I have heard actor richard boone is a decendant of squire boone

Do you know anything about Daniels fist cousin Hezekiah Boone. ? It is said Daniel and his cousin Hezekiah had quite a few adventures together. Hezekiah was with Daniel during many of his moves and his battles with Indians.
Don’t know much. I’ll need to look up his parents. The Boones were very important to the settlement of Kentucky.
I have searched through the family records I have but I don’t have any history for Hezekiah.
I’m from Squire’s brother Hezekiah.
Pretty cool ancestor!
Squire seems very interesting- cool name to ( regal?)
Definitely underrated.
The Squire Boone these guys are discussing is a junior. Named after his father Squire Boone Sr.

Have you read Spencer’s History of Kentucky Baptists?
I have not but it is on the list. I’ve had a lot of people recommend it.
@@KentuckyHistoryChannel Cool! I’m so thankful to God to be a Baptist. John the Baptist. The…..Baptist!!! Jesus started the true Baptist Church that holds to The Doctrines of Grace!!
@@aleciawimer8506 I, come from a very long line of 'Old Regular Baptists.'
Hes buried in NorthCarolina i have seen his grave
That is the father who was also named Squire.
Yes I get the I get the 2 mixed up
Any actual significance
Why are you posting this without having the facts. I have the whole story written by my Boone and VanCleaves. You seem to be discussing Squire Boone Jr. Even though many of the first families that built fort Boonesbourgh are my ancestors, they went through Cumberland Gap into Indian territory. They didn’t have any right to be there. My 5 times great Aunt Jane VanCleave was Squire Boone Jr.s wife.
Do you have verifiable proof of your relationship to Daniel
Yes I do.
My relationship is with Squire Boone Jr and his wife Jane Vancleave. So that would make Daniel a Great Uncle. This is the only marriage or connection to the Boone family in my ancestors. The Vancleave history is what I have a very old copy of. Family group sheets and a written history of their lives and events.
