  • Hey guys and girls.
    Here is my latest vlog, fishing out off Port Fairy out of our Quintrex Renegade 460SC. Great experience to try and figure the fish out on a tough day when i didn't get many casting opportunities. Learned a lot about boat control and the way schools of salmon move around etc.
    Hope you enjoy the footage!

    I can totally relate to that excitement 😁 I recently took my 12 foot tinny out for my first ever tuna chase and was lucky enough to score one right at the end of the day 😁 But half the fun is just being out there and seeing what happens, aye! That salmon school coming right up to the boat would have been terrific 🤘👍👍

    I've had those days - busting up all around and taking nothing. What I found was to down size - 3gram to 10gram tiny metal lures in various colours, and 2" soft plastic minnows in various colours usually work when the bigger stuff ain't.

      @@PaulMalovFishing no worries! With the 3g - these are 40mm lures, so very tiny but just what they were looking for. The challenge is getting the right hooks since they often come with tiny trebles for ice fishing more than anything

    Gillies do some great little, micro metals that I cast off the beach for Salmon and Tailor and it sure doesn’t equate that little presentations equals little fish, no sometimes they really like the little ones. The best often the ones just plain metal. These ones I think give that flash in the water from sun above.

    Your videos are awsome been fallowing you for some time now. I was just wondering if that's a minn kota riptide ulterra in the front of your boat?reason why I'm asking is because I need to choose either the minn kota or the motoguide xi5.

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  Před 5 lety +1

      Nick Marangos thanks Nick! Hope you’re well mate. Yeah we have a Minn Kota on the front. From memory it’s just an older Rip Tide model and not the Ulterra. Had the xi5 on my previous boat and it was great too. Lowrance is coming out with an electric motor in the next week or so too. What boat do you have and how urgently do you need a new electric?

      @@PaulMalovFishing thanks for the quick reply mate! My boat is a Olympic 500ccf I'm told a 55lbs is good enough for my boat. I'm not in a hurry, don't want to buy a problematic trolling motor. Plus I need to see what's the best buy since I have to buy it from over seas preferably a dealer in Europe so I don't get taxed.

    • @nickmarangos2475
      @nickmarangos2475 Před 5 lety +1

      The new lowrance trolling motor looks SICKKKK! it looks like a tank! Do you have any idea what the price range will be?

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  Před 5 lety +1

      No idea on pricing yet mate. Initial word is it’ll be focusedon the bass/bass boat market and then branch out to longer shaft lengths for bigger boats like ours and saltwater models. Expecting the 80lb 24v setup to be at least $25-2800 but have nothing to back that up. But that’s roughly what other products are going for with similar features. Few more days to go before the new electrics are announced at iCast in the US

      Hey John, I think it’s a tremendous all rounder mate. From offshore, to the bay, to tournaments if you wish. Good fitout; fit and finish, good hull shape for a smooth/relatively dry ride (compared to other similar boats) - will never be as smooth as a glass hull! And good value for money! But have all definitely increased in cost over the last 12 months

      On a calm wind and swell day, i think i'd still be confident and comfortable out there, but a Renegade 420 would be about the limit of my comfort. I know guys who have done it in a 435 Hornet in years gone by, but that the Renegade is a safer hull for the ocean IMO.

      @@PaulMalovFishing God Bless you Paul. I just see it all the time, floating pig sties. They catch a fish and then lay the rod down to be scratched or broken. Instead of landing the fish and holstering the butt in a rod holder, or even just a plastic cup tied to something. Then you've got an extra hand free and the rod in position where it isn't in the way.
