david always pokes at himself and i find it so funny!! im just baffled that jools nor the audience really understood his humor. i woulda been cracking up haha
John Lennon was always the "Quip King" of R&R .. but Bowie was masterful at a one stroke killer witticism. he could tear you up to pieces in three words and then gradually watch you come back to health with a renewed sense of respect for the wisdom that a 3 word Bowie stroke could bear.
According to writer Nicholas Pegg in his brilliant 'The Complete David Bowie' book, this interview is very muted because Liam Gallagher had just taken a swing at David and called him a 'washed-up old fart' to his face... He was escorted from the building just before the filming of this.
+Revolver Bowie was an original, constantly ahead of the game with a 50 year career !! What's Liam ? A fucking very poor mans John Lennon with none of the writing talent and a shit voice !
I feel so bad for David after hearing this bit of info... and it puts his self-deprecating jokes into more tragic light. You're not washed-up mr. Bowie, you were and are awesome! :)
I've observed that he doesn't seem to gel with his guests. he was flat + humorless when he interviewed Robert Palmer, and same goes here with David! Seriously?!
Which album did he just complete? "...mostly in New York..." Ah. "Outside"!!!! My favorite Bowie album!!! But he didn't follow through! It was supposed to be a trilogy!
Promoting another boring record release.......Jools : "I'm very excited by your new record" ...."thank you Jools ,you piece of slime" that sounded *so* genuine and appreciative.....

It's so funny how they don't seem to get his sarcasm. Oh gotta love David💕
I am glad to see bowie smiling watching that clip of himself.
how funny! the audience look so serious or awe struck and jools just doesn;t get any of bowie's fabulous self-deprecating humour...
Yep weight gain joke went right over his head. Oh the banter we would have had if that we're me.
who's driving!
he's a fucking doll x

Jesus christ Jools Holland has zero sense of humour. He was genuinely baffled by the very obvious joke bowie made about his weight.
He’s gotten better about it since then.
This was relatively earlier on in Later when Jools Holland was still relatively new to the whole host thing.
I can play the piano and guitar all because of Mr Bowie.. He gave us so much inspiration you could not put it into words.
Jeeeeeesus. Look at him. 😍
Holland is such a plank…. DB was so brilliant. Miss him so much.
David’s speaking voice is surprisingly quite soothing…
This is a treat. Thanks.

oooohh, thanks for uploading this!!
Brilliant, didn't even know DB had been on Jools.
David had a really funny sense of humor....Most people just don't get it...Thankfully I got it...
in fairness, the entire studio audience don't get it either
I've observed that he doesn't seem to gel with his guests. he was flat + humorless when he interviewed Robert Palmer, and same goes here with David! Seriously?!
+Laura Kenney I know what you mean. I think Jools is just too gentlemanly for his own good with his guests.
Which album did he just complete? "...mostly in New York..."
Ah. "Outside"!!!! My favorite Bowie album!!!
But he didn't follow through! It was supposed to be a trilogy!
That clip they showed was intense.
burpie he was intense
Cocaine and hardly eating will do that to you......
The God of Rock.
Come on @soulbrotherjimmy don't be lazy. In the description put 'Later With Jools Holland, December 2 1995 after the release of "Outside."'
where is that version of moonage daydream from? it's sick w/ the echoing vocals.
David Live
where was the moonage daydream live clip, someone knows that?
Bahahahah! Love Bowie! Jools "we have some footage of you here" Bowie "GOOD"?!!! pure p****d off head!
Jools had no idea at all...
Promoting another boring record release.......Jools : "I'm very excited by your new record" ...."thank you Jools ,you piece of slime" that sounded *so* genuine and appreciative.....
No one gets his jokes ... Sleeping audience ...
There is far too much plaid in the audience.
