Nice little tractor! That top will be nice in the wind rain and snow!

Attachments: the first 2 attachments I always recommend for tractors are a rear cross bar, to take trailer hitch balls (multiple holes to have all ball sizes you need) and a pair of clamp on bucket forks to start carrying logs, pallets and lumber without having to take off the bucket.
Also, you mentioned your drive needing work. Decades ago, long before the proliferation of companies selling rear attachments, we used to make drags out of chains and I-beam hunks turned on their sides. We’d add more weight (like cement blocks) to hold down the beam, resting them on the beam, between the uprights. For top smoothing gravel, once it was spread, we’d use about a 6’ of a section of chain link fencing, weighting it also, as needed. They don’t work as well as a store bought box scrapper, but can start you off with something on a budget for driveway work.

In the early 80’s I used a Ford 3000. Somewhere below the center of the seat or by the implement height lever is a draft control…it is either a lever or knob. If you are plowing, the tractor senses if it is getting bogged down…and will automatically raise the plow slightly - until it gets back to the rpm that you have it set at. Very nice feature!

PUT THE LIGHTS ON YOUR 4 CAB CORNERS...

Yeah some sound deadening material like Dynamat or something along those lines would probably work wonders! Some spray foam insulation might work in the cracks between the cab and the tractor itself. It would also help with the exhaust smell. One could probably reroute the exhaust and have upright stack too. Could be a little money maker too with that loader bucket and whatever type of attachments you get for it!!!

There are two levers to the right that control the 3 point. The one that you were playing with lifts or lowers the 3 point. There is another one, to the right just under the seat that will shift the 3 point to from draft to position control.

Tractor Light Suggestion: suggest you leave those existing pair alone and instead of putting a pair on the bucket arms, you mount them on the roof of the cab instead or on the cab’s sides, up near the roof and adjust them to shine down over the bucket. The height up there will give you a better light pattern out in front. That was the way I configured my Case Skid Steer and I found it better to have the lights independent of the bucket arms, for more consistent light. I also put a 3rd light on the cap roof, pointing back, so I could see when backing up at night or working behind the cab.

As I finished playing the vid, you showed the back light, so you have it covered.

Lever to the right of the seat looks to be the height setting for the 3-point and gets used to keep the rear attachment (tiller or brush cutter) at a consistent height. Newer tractors often have a way on them to “lock” the height once set, so your grass gets cut at the same height. Mine is a small movable clamp that gets tightened.

Great tractor, ford tractors run forever.. put the lights on the cab cause if your moving stuff like snow, brush, or close objects you won't hit the lights..

Old Tires: I’ve found over the years, that for a farm tractor that you don’t take out on the job, that if one of your tire goes flat, have the tire store (I use Les Schwab) install an inner tube in the tubeless rim and avoid the cost of a new tire. I also have a 3x5 card note in my wallet with all the tire sizes, for all my vehicles, so if I come across one tire (or a pair/set) at an auction, garage sale or roadside sale, can make the buy on the spot for the value and store it for future use.

Old tractor tires will often check or crack from age, use or exposure to weather and new tires are spends. Turn the tubeless rim into a tubed tire and the checks and cracks will rarely matter, until you use up all the tread.

Manuals are great. Often you can find them on-line as PDF downloads, but I like to have a paper copy myself. There are companies that reproduce them these days, but you might also try eBay. Also, in those days, since Loaders were sometimes add on options, you may need a separate Loader manual specific to your model.

I love the cab in the winter time.. or the rain.. Are you going to get farm animals? ?

  • @brianhenry2385
    @brianhenry2385 Před rokem

Does yours have a hand throttle and foot pedal? I always set the hand throttle to the minimum idle I want, then use the foot pedal as I work.
Yes, power steering was a great addition, that early tractors lacked, but sorely needed when buckets were added.

Probably low on hydraulic fluid. Wondering if the tractor is as deafening with the door closed. Anyway, good purchase, be very helpful around there.

Of course it's loud Eric, it's a tractor that's older than you lol. And you are inside a box. That cab is nice for winter but it's gonna be hot when it warms up. Nice find bud.
