I'm a Speech therapist and I'm covered in tattoos. My kids love them and I've had parents ask for "that therapist with the tattoos" when they want my sessions. It has a lot to do with how you portray yourself and the respect you earn.

During 2020, I applied to TJX (Canadian TJ Maxx basically). I had an in person interview. I too have quite the tattoo collection on my face. Management was fine with my look. The older customers, ehhh not so much. But my coworkers and supervisors always had my back when it came to how I looked. I was there for 2 years, made some great friends and overall showed how work ethic has literally nothing to do with appearance.

I didn't apply for my job.. I was long term unemployed and my job centre work coach put me forward. Didn't even get an interview. They were desperate because nobody applied for the job lol 7 months later I'm still there and it's a stressful job but it's changed my life. I'm getting great work experience, and my wages got me out of debt. Plus I had no friends before. All my colleagues are fab, and some of them I socialise with outside work. Made some great friends

I have tattoos, piercings, and green hair. Even jobs with stricter policies have offered me a position if i was willing to compromise and dye my hair a "natural color" and/or wear clear retainers in my piercing holes. So, sadly yes, her social media is her employer's business. We're literally told in school all the time not to post weird or shady stuff cause social media presence is checked by companies. That's why people get fired from jobs if they lost hateful rhetorics online or repost harmful opinions

You find a place that aligns with who you are, but you don’t through a hissy fit and cry discrimination because you weren’t hired to a job, you continue your job search. That is the experience for MOST people, she is not special for not being hired to a job. And yes, what you privately can actually impact the company. You guys need to live a little more before you air your opinions and you’d understand this. Nevertheless, a company has the right not to hire you if they don’t want to.
I doubt that at the end of the day tattoos are seen as unprofessional and especially when you are working with customers face to face her tattoos can very much be seen as offensive to certain people so they would probably not want to risk customer complaints

As someone who used to hire for the same company as TJ Maxx. I could not care less about her tattoos or the type they are. It's her entitlement and attitude. In customer service, I can't put her at the front registers! She's liable to go off on someone for asking for an extra bag! Her attitude is egregious! And while her tattoos are off putting, it wouldn't be a problem if she had a great smile and a helpful disposition. But girl seriously?? Also if you don't have enough experience for TJ Maxx, that means she had literally no experience whatsoever. Not babysitting, tutoring, being a member of a club, graduating high school, housesitting, plant sitting, NOTHING. If you truly want a job, act like you want it.

I have tattoos, piercings, and green hair. Even jobs with stricter policies have offered me a position if i was willing to compromise and dye my hair a "natural color" and/or wear clear retainers in my piercing holes.
All this to say, yes it sucks that people still care about that in some professions, but if you are personable and have a good attitude, a lot of places will work with you a little.

I mean, I worked as coordinator housekeeping in few really fancy hotels. I have a lot of tattoes on my hands, chest and legs. Half of my hair is blue and they treat me like every other preson, any problems with my look. Sometimes its not really about such things, if you are nice person ready to work ^^'
