Andy Diaz hasn't jumped 18 yet, and hasn't competed much this season due to injuries, but is seriously going for that gold. I'm anxious to see what he will bring to the table. Zango too, coming from world championship, has the gold in his sights. Gonna be a good competition!
Yea I think he is getting back into the fold to be a medal contender in Paris. Zango is sooo consistent and will be hard to keep him off the podium. Its going to be HOT
Hibbert was not injured at the Jamaican trials. He skipped the triple jump so that another athlete could qualify as he had already qualified via some other criterion.
@noelbartley1084 - Hibbert skipped the triple jump at trials because he was focused on the long jump completion and is saving his legs since he's doing the Long Jump and Triple Jump at Paris AND the U20 World Junior Championships which is 2 weeks after the Olympics . It's probably a precaution for him to not compete many meets leading up to Paris
It would be legendary if Keturah got a medal at her final Olympic Games. And yea Zango has been extremely consistent since 2019. He is right in the gold medal conversation because of how competitive he has been year after year
From a few sources, but didn't get clarity extent of the injury, or if just precautionary which led him to pull out. So its possible it was just a little niggle and he'll be 100% ready for Paris which I think is more likely than not! Hibbert can win it all!
I hear your excitement, and we have plenty of international athletes being impressive Any athlete who is American, training in the USA but representing another country, I called that person an opportunist like LaFond who worked in MARYLAND!!! But I am biased: I only cheered and routed for my own country USA All the way!! The US trials are FIERCE and COMPETITIVE in everything that you mentioned and I expect the unexpected... The favorite contenders who you comm are the favorites and expect to be in the top 8 to 3, but things can change in the Olympics I had seen it happen before so excited and so unexpected... It's anybody's gold 🥇 media, including the AMERICANS!! One of the American jumper is retiring, but you didn't mention that and she probably wanted to get on the podium... As for women, it's so sad Yulimar Rojas got injured, she is the GOAT, but i'm positive Maryna Bech-Romančuk won't disappoint
Agree! I think despite Rojas out this year, the other women are healthy and competitive right now!
