ABOUT KEVIN CHAPMAN
Hi, I'm Kevin Chapman, a full-time CZcamsr, author, podcaster, speaker and occasional teacher from Peterborough, UK. As part of my daily vlog I release new videos every day at 5pm UK time with topics including life as an autism family, conventions and geek culture, technology, education and tutorials and entrepreneurship.
When I left my full-time as a Computer Science teacher in July 2017, my partner, Anna, was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months. Our daughters Lucy and Amy and our dog Dave hardly saw me because I was always working to try and solve all our problems! Today I'm a full-time content creator who's always at home when my kids get home from school (all our kids!) and Anna has been able to return to university. This channel is the story of my family's ongoing journey as family vloggers! Previously known as lollujo Vlogs.

My son's diet consists of mostly macaroni cheese, choco squares, sausages and fromage frais. People have so many suggestions for ways to get food down him but the Autism Nurse told me to just get him fed. Trying to trick or force him into new foods will only make things worse and letting him eat what he wants to eat keeps us all much happier and less anxious. When people make suggestions I just nod and smile now...
Amazing how many people think they are the font of all knowledge about things they have no experience of!
I agree with you.. My doctor told me to give my what he like to eat. You can put an ittem on another plate to see if he try it.. But yeah let him eat what he like so he won't be hungry
I hardly ever watch family vlogs or vlogs in general but ive watched these videos for 2 weeks now and im loving them!
True that!
I'm glad you guys read the comments, people with less subscribers than you guys and yet never read or take time to look through the comments because they just got lazy. Appreciate your guys' interaction
Preferred foods are a must. I spend 50/60 a week just on those items for my 5 yr old. I worry about his diet and his health but it's what he wants and I'd rather he eat something than nothing because he refuses to eat. I do try everything and give him the chance to try something new for him. Every once in a while he astonishes by trying something out of his norm.
That sounds very familiar!
Chris Howard - my little person only eats baked beans. So fortunately, the weekly shop isn't too expensive. Starting school next year may be a problem with lunchtimes etc....
@@barnsey8380 for his lunches I put everything I possibly can in his backpack so he basically has a buffet depending on his moods he can pick and choose. I can relate to the very limited diet but can also tell you as they get older they get a little more adventurous with foods. Dieticians and therapists can help with food introduction it's a long road friend your not alone
Chris Howard wow that’s crazy, I’m 16 now but when I was in prep and grade 1, I always was made to eat food I didn’t like and had it for 2 years straight but in grade 2 I made to make my own lunches and have since then and still am but until about grade 6 I would make the same sandwich and through it in the bin for like 6 years haha, u sound like a good parent but make sure they eat their Fruits lol, well u don’t have too but fruits are good
This brings back very fond memories to what I was like as a kid, I would only eat certain branded things and also never eat in other peoples houses and stuff. I’ve thought that I was autistic because of other stuff but I’ve never thought of the food thing! Makes you think. I’m 24 now and never been diagnosed, only with anxiety and OCD.
Ive been watching these for 3 weeks now and they are incredible I dont usually watch videos like these but im really loving the channel
Wow, that is cool how his diet has changed over time! At least he has found a groove that works for him and that is totally fine! Great video and those viewers/followers had really good questions! Great video as always and keep up the GREAT work! ❤️💙👍🏾
I was the exact same for my whole childhood. I had a wider range than Andy but it was all specific things and it was difficult for my family. As I've gotten older and spent a lot of time working on my different skills things I eat more foods now. I hope Andy can find lots of foods he likes and eats in the future!
Thanks for making of vlogs every day Kev makes me so happy to see the progress that Andy is making and how well you and Amy are doin. I’m currently studying computer science in college and every day feels like a dragyour videos always make me smile once I come home and get to relax for once :-)
Andy's amazing
You are so honest with your fans
I wonder if the best point in Andy's obsession to a food to try to introduce him to something else is early on, like maybe a couple of days after he suddenly starts eating seemingly endless whatever it is, you try to introduce a different food. Perhaps he will blend the positive experience of eating whatever is THE food with the negative experience of being persuaded to try a new food.
brill video it still impresses me of how much effort you put into these videos
You guys are amazing parents and don’t let anyone change that, he might be different from other kids but he’s still your son at the end of the day, enjoy it while you can, xx
I never ask questions because my 9 yr old is the same way. 😂 We went a solid 2 months with him eating nothing but pickle chips/ crisps. He still eats a bag a day but he's decided to eat pretzels in there and mcdonalds french fries. Kid likes salt. 😂
We starved him out when he was 3 just to appease other people, never again.....fed is best applies to all humans not just babies.
Best thing about all of this, no actual need to learn to cook. 😁
You should do a challenge where you take Andy to the supermarket and let him choose anything he wants
I like the idea, but when we’ve done stuff like that in the past he just picks all the things closest to him to try and get it over with!
Kevin Chapman i would do the exact same thing
Love you guys!! And I love Andy!! He is an amazing young man!! I am a very very pickey eater and I am fine so Andy will be fine!
yay, finally after 6 videos of comments
How old is Andy and I also love walkers salt and vinegar crisps I also love pop lol 😂
1:17 Oh my gosh! That laptop has an Elmo sticker! I love Elmo so much!
I love how kev says ‘crisps’😂
Thanks for answering my question Kev! Such a shame that he stopped drinking milk though 😞 that could really help get him nutrients but he is also a teenager though so that could add to the pickyness.
Great Video Kev, Loved it 😎
Just started watching you guys love the videos keep going x x
I GET THIS!!!!! My son struggles as well.He has severe ASD.
I was just thinking a experiment would be good to see if Andy could go to shop you let him go and get Lucy to follow him but then thought, bad idea Rob if he dose it once he will think it's ok to do it anytime he wants.
Thanks for answering my question! :-)
Andy should really come on Corby , lots of stuff there for him to explore 😀
Hey Andy and Kevin love your vids keep up the good work xx
I love Anna’s t-shirt
Loving the Austin Aries top. I watch him all the time on impact wrestling
Love your videos and andy.
Great vid kev
My son will only eat maybe 7 different things. Kids with autism are even more picky than other kids when it comes to food. You can't just shove it down their throats. I think Andy is doing a lot better with food than he was last year. Maybe it is just hard for people to understand if they don't have an autism child. Idk
my girl got me into this account and i live watching these videos i have autism my self and im 6ft 7 mild build and i can eat alot my diet concists of meat feast pizza bottles and bottles of milkshake chicken related meals i can eat a full chicken chicken broth chicken wraps and alot of milkshakes due to of my teeth im not allowed to have pop or energy i have a sweet tooth i like chocolate i can eat loads my farther calls me a bottomless pit i enjoy watching these videos ^^
Thanks my question was featured!
I remember watching a programme called Eat Well For Less i think. Two presenters gave a family a challenge of feeding on food that was put into jars, containers and bags by the presenters (or whoever worked with them) with only strips of white paper saying what they are. No fancy bright packaging, no names of known brands.
I’m totally with Andy on the Easter egg chocolate, it doesn’t taste the same as normal cadburys idk what it is. It’s way better 😂
Interesting vlog Kevin!
Great vid
When I was in my first year of uni I'd spend days eating only green walkers crisps 😂
What I would suggest for Andy is Limiting crisps to one bag per day try toast and peanut butter instead Try to cut out chocolate because it has a lot of sugar try to stay away from diet pop instead try drinking water and new foods every day for Andy Try to avoid sugary drinks and sweets try to get him to drink one soda per day Try Chocolate milk because it has a lot of nutrients
I have Autism! Autism people where are you??
im autistic
Do you think andy is capable of being self aware? Such as him wanting to change the way he looks or how small or big he is?
Have you tried emailing the Easter Egg companies? Sometimes with stories such as Andy’s where it’s part of his diet they send freebies out especially stuff that’s out of season, worth a try ☺️
17:14 Dave is soo cute
Cob is the absolutely 100% correct way to say a bread roll . Its just fact lol
I have lactose intolerance and I get these tablets from Holland and Barrett, and since I've been taking these I can eat everything!
love the vids hope Andys ok !
Was shocked when I saw my question went back and didn't realise it had most like 😆😆😆😆
I see that Austin Aries shirt... I am a fan of him too even more from TNA
Your vidieos are amazing😁
Has Andy Tried Complan Milk they have different flavours Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla I have diet struggles and I had these for a while
Has Andy tried fizzy juice? (Is it available there?) It seems to meet the criteria for his drinks and might help his immune system some during the winter.
What you should do is order the crisps off of Amazon there so much cheaper
Try rice cakes, Maybe salt and vinegar ones would be good.
Rice cakes actually have less calories and stuff than crisps, so maybe not.
I like dave the most
My asd sons diet is dairylea sandwiches waffles fish fingers nuggets from macdonalds n fries walkers crisps ready salted pringles n just water he wont drink anyother drinks xxxx
I love your vids hope you see this I’m from Worksop if you know where that is
Luv ur vids
Thank you, you did answer my questions. I am now on patron but my name is not in credits?
Thanks for the support! I update the credits a couple for times a month, so you’ll be in there soon.
Send Kevin over my way after I've had dairy. He'll never call you a hipster again. Then again, he may be traumatized. 😂 It's like death and destruction when I've had dairy. The whole town will be lethally gassed and picture a landslide of mud during a flood, rushing throughout the streets as people scream and flee in horror. Yeah. It's not a pretty sight when I have dairy.
Brianna Gordy - same in our house! Never again did the grandparents go against my "no dairy" rule.
For the chocolate, would chocolate buttons work?
Have you tried smoothies fruits with soymilk and put it in a cool cup with a lid so he can't see what it is. I'm able to sneak spinach in a banana soymilk and little Vega protein.
Good vid
Hi. I love your videos and I have a question. Do your girls not get annoyed because it looks to me like all your attention goes to Andy and not them?
They obviously do get attension, and they seem like smart girls, they know he needs more care than them so to speak, so even if they didn't like it, it's tough
Hi , Have you ever tired andy on soda water even adding juice to it ??
What’s wrong with dr. Pepper for breakfast?! It’s what I have every single day. Wait...I’m fat. Lol.
what i have as someone with autism if i eat something for too long i can't eat it anymore for a few years
Your right about the diet, both of my parents have eaten whatever they wanted for 60 years and there in perfect health yeah there a bit chubby but not unhealthy
What does he eat have you tried him chicken and chips
Have you tried Andy on kinder eggs
Noooo soda try Hansons soda or sparking waters that have fruit juice in them.
Idea soda stream +sugar healthier
I eat alot more foods now than I did at Andy's age.
I thought that England uses the Euro? Is crisp the same as potato chips?
We don’t. And they are.
I mean no harm with this question. I'm genuinely curious and I care about your family. If you must give Andy soda, would it be healthier to give him regular soda? Opposed to diet soda with aspartame?
He drinks 6-8 cans a day. That amount of sugar and caffeine would cause a lot of issues. We have to choose the lesser of two evils unfortunately
please don’t ever consume diet drinks with aspartame/sucralose etc, they are poison!! seriously. they cause blood sugar issues and other problems- possibly cancer as well. real sugar drinks are so much better in moderation
Kev, were are you're nerdy t-shirts from
Qwertee - the link is in the description
I have autisum too and I hate noise and I also get angry really easily is Andy sensitive to noise or does he get angry easyly
Andy eats soya yoghurt so maybe try soya milk he might enjoy it.
not sure if you watched the video all the way through, they have already tried that recently and he would gag every sip
Try grapes as a healthy snack and Limit caffeine to one per day For Andy try protein shakes or fruit smoothies For Him But Get Andy to drink plenty of water and Limit Soda to one a day because pop has a lot of sugar in it and it has no calories What I would do is look at the calories and tell him how much pop is one serving size per person Try food portion size because of What serving of food if Andy if hungry try a fruit or vegetable at snack time if you can get him to eat Oatmeal or Cereal for breakfast and a healthy snack is going to be nuts for him for a while That could be one serving per day No crisps as a snack for a while or waffles
Whatttt Kevin isn’t the kids dad or just not Andy’s or what can someone explain plz ?
i think hes his stepdad
He eats more than me 😂👍
Daves face at 5:34 at the right 😀😀😅😂😂 WHATS good homie
I hate the fact that doctors think they know your child... you know your child best
Does his liquid vitamin supplement have to be added to a food, and not a drink?
It can be added to milk but he won't drink milk so its added into his custard and he can't taste it.
hi
Need to watch "What the Health"
I thought you. We're both Andy's first parents interesting Kevin met Andy and Anna
I thought he was his dad too
Great video, do you think he consumes the same amount of calories as an average teenage boy despite having his limited diet??
Most days, yes
Kevin Chapman well that’s something, I think he’s looking quite healthy at the moment and it’s so good to see him happy and healthy.
Has Andy ever tried drinking sparkling/fizzy water?
andres castaneda thats what I won’t drink it’s gross
VR Review it might with orange squash or black current
If Andy Needed more Protein you could try a protein shake/drink
Kevin you should change your profile pic on CZcams just an idea 💡
Has Andy ever shown any interest in Wrestling? If yes is he a Bullet Club guy or nWo 4 lyfe?
My son can tell the difference in bread even if it's toasted and what , all my son will eat is bland brown food autism kids am more clever than people think because they tell the difference in food they are so clever love them all it's so hard to look after autistic kids
my brother has autism aswell and he hates meat but he will eat chicken
What about fruit.
I work with austic children and most austic kids have diets like these
He still growing he might chance when older.. I don't see nothing wrong with a soda with breakfast.. Some children has look aid with there meal instead of milk or juice
has andy eats shortbread and pot noodles
What kind of biscuits does he eat now
