@@jakeTulhere I think it was 10 minutes until anyone called the authorities since Alton staff thought that they could handle it themselves- it apparently took another 50 minutes for anyone to arrive and an additional 4 1/2 hours to get everyone out of the coaster since especially the front row of the train was damaged so badly. I think you can find some pictures of just how bad the damage was on the car (no blood or people in it obvs) just for reference if you don't believe lol

The Smiler is really that one-of-a-kind ride you'll never experience anywhere else. The theming, the music, the extensive lore they put behind this ride (go watch "Smile. Always." if you haven't, yet, it's Grade A marketing and a great storytelling experience), you truly won't find something like The Smiler at any Cedar Fair or Six Flags park, and this ride is on-par with some of Six Flags's best themed rides, if not above them. And I'm not saying all of this because my channel's namesake is from The Smiler, no, I'm saying this because GENUINELY, The Smiler is that one ride you _have_ to experience to truly enjoy it.
14 inversions in such a tight space, this ride breaks two world records. Not only does it have the most inversions, but it's also the world's most densely packed coaster.
Alton Towers absolutely went above and beyond with this ride, we'll never get something like The Smiler again. Once the ride's gone, it's gone for good. We'll never see something like this again if The Smiler were to ever close down. We got lucky in 2015, fellas.
Thank God for Gerstlauer, and thank God for Alton Towers. I may be a U.S. resident who will never ride this in his lifetime, but a guy can dream, and I'm saying that The Smiler remains my #1 bucket list coaster and will forever remain on that spot.

this ride is amazing, i go on it at least 5 times a year no joke, mostly during scarefest (which is where you get to ride the rides until like,, 8pm or something i cant really remember) one of my favourite rides. it can be painful sometimes though when the harness clicks down more than you'd like which crushes your legs- anyways im ranting. the theming is absolutely amazing, it's sinister and the massive marmalizer (i dunno how to spell it) is so interesting, when you're off ride, theres so much to look at on the screens. even if the projectors in the queue line are broken and the effects dont work, i still love this ride. not my best ride but i'd have to say its in my top 5.
Hi, as a brit who rode it today. I would definately say it was worth it. Even socially distant it was a immersive ride even though out the queue. The visual effects where stunning, the employees even fit the scenery.

As a person who lives in Orlando, you British folk perfected the theming of this ride, along with several other rides at Alton. I’d even say the park is on par with the theme parks over here in Orlando.

It’s probably just that type of music to make it bring more tension, but at the same time it feels as if it’s trying to hypnotise you into riding

Went to Alton Towers yesterday, was in the smiler line for an hour, came out whistling this and it's infected my mind to the point I put myself through the torture purposefully by having this song on loop by choice the day after.

I went on this rollercoaster with a MASSIVE fear of rollercoasters. I watched videos and I knew there was an inversion at the VERY beginning but I didn’t expect the slight drop. However after the second inversion, I didn’t get the stomach dropping feeling which was surprising. I love this ride and everything involved with it.

@@LoL_424Alton Towers is also in the middle of nowhere basically, you will need to book an expensive hotel. Don't even get me started on the queue times, but luckily, if you have additional needs, you can skip. Overall, Alton Towers is a pretty solid. But you need to be prepared financially and mentally

I remember before the Smiler Opened. alton Towers had a scaremaze called the Sanctuary which was where the ministry of Joy opened up a clinic and they were playing this music. I've realised that the scaremazes give clues to future attractions.

Waiting in the queue to this music when going on the ride for my first time actually took me from being relatively relaxed to very unsettled and worried 😂, which just shows how strong of impact - great theming and a sinister soundtrack can have

Glad this ride has reopened again. The accident was sad and tragic but accidents happen and I trust that the park has done everything possible to improve safety measures. The accident aside, this roller coaster is by far the best in the UK.

The smiler crash wasn't actually the rides fault.. it was the operators, the ride tried to tell the operator not to send the train but the operator overrides the ride computer...
