      This warmed my heart. Sharing the joy of skateboarding with my kids is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a parent.

    Wow! We're BOTH...so fortunate to have such awesome dads for fathers. Mine doesn't skate but that's not the point, they always really enjoyed being a part of our lives, as opposed to those guys who find anything to do when they're not at work to avoid spending time with their families. Our dads are 'Real dads'. All the best and keep up the good work, Zack.

    Always have a goal or something you are working on. I make sure to get on the board and push switch everyday.

  • @AustinSK8NYC

    You have to set goals and be ok if you don't reach them. As long as you can progress at them every session, you will eventually accomplish your goals. Thats how I learned how to BS Air and im still trying to learn how to take them higher!
    To everyone battling a trick... WE GOT THIS! Thanks Zack!

    Very timely video for me! I'm an absolute beginner with just a few short days under my belt so far - so seeing the tiny steps in the bigger picture is a great encouragement.
    Also, I love the videos with your Dad in...makes me think even though I'm starting out as an older guy I can still have some good years on my board ahead of me :)

    I broke my ankle skating and thought about quitting. After a few days all I could think about was how bad I wanted to go skate and realized I’m hooked 🤣 btw love when your dads in the videos he has great advice 👊

    I progress painfully slow. It is what it is and I've accepted that. I still progress though and a big part of it is that inner drive. As a father, I support my kids, but none of them skate and I feel like I've failed there.

      I relate to this comment completely.
      Also don't trip. It takes kids to grow up before they realize how cool their parents actually are.

    Really digging this channel Zack, and this is my favorite video so far. As a 48 year old dad who just started skating again so that I can ride with my 11 year old son, this video hits home. Let’s see more clips of your dad skating! Also, I’d love to see you do a video that talks about your journey with skating - how/when you started, some more about your progression, overcoming any injuries, etc. Keep up the good work and great vibes!

  • @i-never-look-at-replies-lol

    Hell yeah I suck! Kinda nice I lost so much over the years because now that I've started skating again, I've got a lot to look forward to and learn again!

    Who’s saying maybe? I DEFINITELY suck at skateboarding. I still do it though. If we all quit what we were lousy at, there’d be no kids in this world. 😜

    Some hours ago, I argued (somewhat directly) that I didn‘t like the title of this video. And now the title has changed (which to me is surprising in a nice way).
    It‘s nice to see that obviously a lot of thought goes into these videos (and how they present themselfes on youtube). Thanks!
    (Also I certainly see that it must be hard to do anything without offending anybody. So yeah… However the video is called, it should be named how you think it‘s right @Zack)

    • @ZackDowdy
      @ZackDowdy  Před 2 lety +4

      Sorry you feel offended. The concept is that you need to skate A LOT to progress, it's very weird indeed.

    • @andpau201
      @andpau201 Před 2 lety +2

      @@ZackDowdy I don‘t disagree. But the title feels kind of like click-bait specifically targeted at people who feel bad about their skateing. Like you wouldn‘t approach someone at a skatepark telling them something like: „Hey, I‘ve seen you skateing. This is why you suck…“

    • @TheJonasThomson
      @TheJonasThomson Před 2 lety +2

      I agree. I think it is a pretty classic "youtube title" though, which is unfortunate, because it does take away from the well-thought out and interesting point in Zack's video. Skateboarding is supposed to be fun, but it is also fun to feel like you are progressing and to progress you have to spend a lot of time skating and get out of your comfort zone once in a while - which I think is what Zack is speaking to :)
      Really enjoy the content you put up, Zack. Especially the DIY-stuff is very inspiring! Keep up the good work :D

    • @AustinSK8NYC
      @AustinSK8NYC Před 2 lety +1

      @@ZackDowdy I think its great you used it as a tittle. It targets the people who feel insecure or bad about their skating and you show them that they are not alone and you shouldn't feel bad. I think you are smart for it because if you tittle the video... " If you think you are bad at skateboarding then you should watch this video on how you can progress" .... we all know that wouldn't work.... Keep on killing it man! Hopefully I can film a transition video with you one day in NYC!
