- This video is quite old now, but I'm updating it and combining it with the "Encore video" and adding lots of new stuff, so watch this space. If you liked this, you're gonna love "Dark Sage: Finale"!
ANIMATION SYNOPSIS: Using the Triforce of Power, the Demon King Ganondorf has manifested himself as a Sage and is using the Temple of Light to radiate his evil influence across the kingdom of Hyrule.
After reclaiming the Triforce of Courage and Wisdom from his ancestors, a destined Hero embarks on a journey to find the Blade of Evil's Bane and enter into combat with the Dark Sage... - Zábava
13 years... THIRTEEN. YEARS. This animation was ahead of its time, and it still holds up pretty well today.
Ahh thanks!
@@Coloniser what did you use to make this animation? it looks so good
@@gachastorys5129 thank you! It was all made in 3ds Max using the scanline renderer, which is actually pretty basic. There are far better ways to produce better quality visuals nowadays. If only I had the time to go back to it...!
Right! I especially love that it's quite high energy and is really consistent in it. Watched this when I was 13 and I'm now 26. Guess I'll be here at 39 too!
I love how at 3:27 Link's thinking, "Well, I'm about to go into battle with my worst enemy who is not only an excellent swordsman but also an incredibly powerful sorcerer. Better throw away my shield."
Back when we thought all zelda games would have to do with oot
Christ I remember this from when I first got into the series, it's amazing finding it again
2022 and it's always a pleasure to come back to this masterpiece.
It's amazing how 15 years have passed since this video was released, and I watched it in 2007 and rewatching it today, it's still as epic as ever.
6 year old me was not impressed with links face. he didn't care about the backgrounds. or that awesome fight. nope just his fucking face... 9 years later now that i know all the hard work and dedication that goes into animating. his face could be a minecraft dirt block and I'd care less.
That was awesome!
13 years later and still the ultimate soundtrack and animation!
Ahh, thanks!
Loved this video since it came out. Can't believe how old it is though oh man
Wanted to say, if the creator can still see this, you made something that so many remember because of how unique it is!! Very rare to accomplish something like this.
That's very kind of you to say - thank you! I now have my own kids, and the greatest reward is watching them enjoy this. I never pictured that when I created it!
8 years ago... Doesn't feel like it...
Me too...
13 years ago... Doesn't feel like it...
@@CameronAC fuck... :(
I knew that this shortcut existed, it took me a while to find it but was worthy. Wow men, I was so little.
Finally re found this video :)
I was 13 when I watched this in 2007. Glad to see this piece of my childhood is still here.
For those wondering, the name of the song in the video is "Ancient Hero" by Darkesword (a remix of "The Legendary Hero" from _The Wind Waker_ soundtrack), as listed in the video screen-credits at 4:48.
All the same, this is really impressive for animation from almost 10 years ago! Even if the CGI is not HD, it's still fantastic, and the choreography was well-paced, but my favorite part was the animation on the Creation of Hyrule from _The Ocarina of Time_ -- it was fast, artistically synchronized with the music, and it had great shots with the cinematography! Everyone who worked on this project should be proud of what they've accomplished! Great job!
Came here for some nostalgia
I'm still watching in 2019 !
Oh, WOW!! I'm so jealous of your talent! I adore the detail in the design and story, the timing with the song is perfect...I just love it all! Thanks so much for sharing it!
remember watching this when I was 13... im now closing 29... still a masterpiece! and bring me soooo much nostalgia! (watching this vid every now and then, always was a part of my memories)...... (also seeing everything that changed in my life since then, but, this vid stayed the very SAME, stayed TRULY AWESOME!!! (...man..! no words!!) I mean....., 13 years as passed..!) whos still watching this in 2020!?!? damn this song an vid.. its perfect! make me chills EVERY SINGLES TIMES I'M WATCHING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just discovered this amazing work. It's really epic and with a lot of great developed references! I ever wanted to see more about the Temple of Light and the creation of the world of Hyrule. Congrats!
Thank you! In that case, you might be interested in the feature-length version I recently finished - czcams.com/video/mE4jc4Lr6e8/video.html :)
@@Coloniser What an honor you've answered to my comment! I will watch it for sure now!
i remember teenage me googling "zelda movie" at my schools library and stumbling upon this! So much nostalgia.. gave me chills back then, and still now! (might not be the first time I've commented here, hehe.) I keep coming back to watch this video from time to time and can't believe thats 16 years old.. it's still awesome even by today's standards! Imagine a remake in 4K with today's tech... I would pay money to see that! the creator should definitely do a Kickstarter for this project!.. I'd be the first to back it!
Thanks for this comment - it’s always great to receive one such as this so many years after publishing the video. It makes me nostalgic, too! And it’s funny you should mention 4k, as it’s my dream to remake the fight scene in Unreal one day. Might have to wait until me kids are a bit older though… 😬
Finally found this legendary video
Finally found this. Very impressed.
I have watched this movie many times 9years ago.
I just want to say the music is great. Hope a movie for Zelda.
A great joy to watch and a really amazing piece of animated artwork allowing to dive into Hyrule again for at least a few minutes! Thanks!
i love that i commented on this 8 years ago (when i was 16) and i showed this to my Computer Based Animation class haha and now it has over a million views congratulations! :D
This feels like something Nintendo might have made in the 90's if the team that made the DK cg cartoon did one for Zelda too.
terrific video, great work coloniser
Holy crap. This is definite CG movies I have seen on here. Please by all means keep up this excellent work.
woah... brilliantly done! The godesses' part was particularly breathtaking, and the battle was well choreographed, nice job!
This is the best Zelda Fan video I have ever witnessed. Favored, rated 5/5, and recommended to my friends. Dude, you rock!
That was truly, truly amazing. :) Great job!! You have definitely pleased a major Legend of Zelda fan.
just an awesome video you made I've always been a zelda fan nice to see a good original video like this keep up the good work
that was marvelous i hope to see more from you dude. espeacially with how you left that opening there.
This is still so good! I wanted to see some good Zelda video and remembered this from when I was younger. I couldn't find it, nor did I remember the name so I literally went to the very end of my Liked videos and there it was haha. Watched it when I was 13, watching it now as I'm 26. Guess I'll be back at 39 :p Now off to watch your newer Dark Sage videos! Thanks for making them. Great atmosphere, pace, music. I remember being quite astounded that there was actually a fight between Ganondorf and Link. I thought it was going to be a dungeon for Link to traverse without really any cool ending. This is great! :)
Ahh thanks - very kind words, and loving the fact that you hunted for it :D
@@Coloniser Definitely did ;) Can I ask though; who are you? haha. Not meaning to be rude, but I just wonder: what's your relationship with Zelda? Why make those vids? I think I also ask because I remember that around the first time I watched Dark Sage I felt like making such animations myself, but never really got to actually doing it.
@@donn4life well it all came about after nintendo delayed the release of TP. I had just finished studying games design, so decided I'd make something myself. Spiralled from there really, just as a bit of a hobby. Unfortunately, 15+ years, a career and 2 kids later, I don't really have the time anymore :(
@@Coloniser Wow you did game design! I literally have been looking a bit into becoming one myself this past week, because I don't like my current job that much anymore. Then yesterday a friend of mine contacted me to start working again on a game we started on in a game design&dev minor we took. Do you see any opportunity to tell what games you've worked on? Very curious as I like your Dark Saga so much haha. Do your kids play Zelda? ;) Hope you have a wonderful time with them!
Thanks! I enjoyed that loads. You did an amazing animation!
This was so well done!
I don't know how many times I've watched this. I just love it!!!! My favourite part is the goddess bit. It's just so well done!
this is one of the most coolest things i've ever seen i'm doing 3d modeling and programming when i get into uni and i hope i can get as good as you when i'm older
That was absolutely amazing. Superb job.
Great work! I thoroughly enjoyed that! Thank you!
This has just been added to my favourites.. amazing work :) xx
A much more epic, drawn out version of that battle is precisely how I pictured a Link-Ganondorf duel in a feature film. Very well done!
HOLY SHIT!!! I got blasted out of my seat by the awesomeness! Thank you
a) for definition of awesome
b) for giving me new ideas for my game
Great work! Nice video. Zelda is one of the best games of all times, if not, the best. Would like to see another video like this great work once again.
Great job! Love it you'll do great in the special affects as a carrer.
Brilliant!~ The patience to do this is a talent enough.
The battle coreography was amazing! really impressed!
WOW man... very well done. If a full CG movie was made like this I would love watching it.
This is amazing! The animation is just brilliant, and I just love the way that it all fits in with the music...
This vid never gets old... Always awesome
Hunted for this video after having seen it almost five years ago. Many people have posted up CGI projects of their own and while they are good, I have always used you as a template for quality.
Thank you for your hard work.
That was awesome!
Epic video, and i loved the mysterious ending!
Very nice :D
it's awesome, i was very bluffed by the script, the quality of animation. You are super.
It's beautiful despite it's old
Amazing you have great talent. This movie is beautiful, great job man! A great tribute to The Legend of Zelda.
Truly amazing work, I can only imagine how long this took to make. Although it did give me an idea for a game, now if only I could make the game . . .
absaloutly incredible! you've done the zelda series justice
this is fucking incredible. I cannot believe that you made this. It looks absolutely professional. Just outstanding
Wow you are good! Loved it! Got chills over me while watching... Awesomely made :D
Keep up the awesome work man
I think its funny how fast Ganondorf can move despite how huge he is
That was so well done!
You have amazing skill, this is fantastic!
Wow! This is great! I, for one, loved the ending fight, that was sweet!
u made me more in love with the series....great job!
That was pretty amazing. I loved the remixed music. As the fight scene was intense. I relly like how you threw in the jump attack and the spin attack. You're Good.
Awesome! Very fluid animation, wonderfully made!
wow, the fight with ganon is incredible. better than anything ive ever seen. good job
The intro was more amazing than in OoT. When Link entered, the whole thing became dramatically dull for a moment, but from then on the concept continued being just epic! Not to mention the battle choreography. A great animation!
EXCELENT VIDEO!!! U did a great job dude!! Congratulations.
Damn, if I didn't know better I'd swear this was the next Zelda game. Fantastic job mate!
Still watching it 14 years later
Yes love this T_T been 15 years and I still love this
Wow! That's so amazing! I can't describe the feeling I had while watching this..
That was amazing...im a totally obsessed zelda fan and I think it was outstanding!
The best video i've ever seen !!!!!!!!!! Congratulations !!!!
i had this video for years but never commented to how great it was.
10 stars
great video, and i want to thank you for introducing me to ocremix so long ago. now that ive found this video again i can also do what i should have done all those years ago, favorite this video.
Do you know the name of the song? I really want it

*jaw drops*
I'm speechless...this is absolutely amazing...especially for a fan-made...
That was very well made. Great battle sequence.
Wow!! Amazing job and a lot of fun to watch :)
This is amazing
i love it
thank you for making this
5 stars
Great rendition of the overworld theme, man, I love it!
All I could think the whole time was just wow that was epic good job!
I wish the "creation of Hyrule" scenes in the games were half as awesome as this. This always gives me chills
Nice Work! It came out great!
the design of all of this actually reminds me alot of baten kaitos, in other words, I love it! :P nice work!
absolutly awesome!
That was awesome man.
this is so good i love it!!
that was marvelous you got a good thing going there i hop to see more from you.
Most awesome. The amount of work that went into this is commendable and it's quality is on par with some CG shows I watched when I was younger; Dan Dare, Starship Troopers, War Planets: Shadow Raiders to name a few. All of which had a large crew involved in production compare to what I assume was just you and some friends at most. I could really imagine this as a one of the cartoons on tv before school, if that were the case I'd be late every day (as if I wasn't anyway! =D)
This is so awesome!
Wooooooaw That's very good !
I love it you're great !
Awesome work! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So epic
Dude, this was really cool!!...loved the music & camera works....keep it up :)
Do you know the name of the song? I really want it
This was simply...AMAZING
Nice! That was really great!
Awesome! This must have taken a long time!
OMG. I loved this. 5/5! Great sum up of the Legend of Zelda!!
i like how the towers in the castle place had the three spiritual stones on them, also the twilight princess reference at the memorial in the forest (on top of the place with the door to the twilight realm) the pillars, and thank you for making link left handed like he's supposed to be.
