Honestly, my main reason for disinterest is that as a Suicide Squad adaptation it doesn't really capture the feeling of what makes the source material good. SS for me is about exploring the moral dilemma of exploiting bad people for greater good and their lives being disposable. Mechanically you can do so much with that. Darkest Dungeon is a far better representative of that.
This game feels more like The Boys.
That is explored heavily in the game.

Yeah, I'll just wait a year or 2 before buying this game. I'm not trying to pay 60+ dollars on an incomplete game, waiting to get the rest of it over time and spend even MORE money.
Why is there this need to have the Suicide Squad take on these world ending threats? They’re villains who couldn’t even take down the heroes when they weren’t under mind control, yet they’re expected to bring down the supervillains that superheroes struggle against.
I had a thought, not too long ago about this game. What if instead of the suicide squad you play as the Titans? That way you could have some emotional connection between the people you’re playing as and the heroes that they have to stop, we can play with characters that have actual superpowers and we all get to play as heroes that more than 2% of us like (Harley excluded).
DC/Warner Bros: Teen Titans,? That incredibly successful kids cartoon? What do the teen titans have to do with The Justice League?"
They'd have to know who the Titans are and care enough to not turn it into a "next gen and replace the old guard" plotline.
(Also, Harley Quinn love or hate her is a very popular character, she's reached "I don't read comics but I know who she is" levels of fame, and has a successful cartoon.

the audio recordings imply that the other deadshot is from another universe.
The audio recordings reveal the moment the JL were captured. Flash grabbed WW and ran which is why neither of them which is why they arent brainwashed or copied or what ev (initially).
Oh thank goodness those important plot points are hidden behind a difficult to navigate menu in underwhelming audio logs instead of, you know, in the game.

This isn't a justice league story. It's a suicide squad story. This game isn't telling the story like how Spiderman movie shows both sides. This a one sided story about the Squad
@@LAGator-qu7tc I’m not saying make it a JL game. I’m saying important info involving important characters like ARKHAM Batman should be in the story. Not hidden behind a menu. If was saw their fall, maybe people would have actually liked the JL. And felt bad at their deaths. They could even still hide the actual indoctrination process so Rocksteady and WB can be the pussies we know they are and walk back the JL’s deaths. It should have been the opening. Not the terrible bomb scene in Arkham. That being said, this story is way worse than just this small part. It’s fundamentally broken from its foundation.
To tie it better into the Arkham Verse, I think Batman deeming that it was time to come out of hiding because of this threat would've been much better than the misfire we have here.
Batman did his research on the League over the time since their formation and puts those plans into action. From there, you can have the death that Benny mentioned.
SS: Kill the Justice League, I feel, is a prime example of the harm that live service games could do for the medium of video games. It affects the core gameplay due to every character needing to have the same exact style of gameplay with a few tweaks here and there to crank out new characters for you to buy, as well as the lackluster style of missions being either "shoot the big thing" or escort from A to B. It affects the game's pace by artificially blockading your progress until you've grinded enough points to continue with the game. And it affects the narrative by stretching out the narrative to an unsatisfying conclusion so you'd buy more season passes. Ontop of the $70 price tag
I'll say you have a point on the play style and the missions, but I do have to point out that the new characters and any new story missions/ updates are free in this game. The only thing you pay for is costumes/ cosmetics (that you honestly don't need) and a cosmetic battle pass that you also don't need because there is a free tier to it too. And to be quite honest I refuse to pay 70$ for a single player game I'll play through once. In the last 15 years I personally only spend that much on games that are either huge RPG style games that have so much side content I play for hundreds of hours( fallout, Skyrim), games that are multiplayer ( call of duty, Halo) , or are live service games like this one, (destiny, the division.). So I hate when people talk like their opinion speaks for everyone because I don't want this style of game to go away I just want them to be made well with enough content to hold me from update to update.
@@zodsherocomplex6460Couldnt agree with you more. None of the games paid content is in any way integral to the story nor its gameplays, its entirely superfluous which is fantastic. As far as the whole "characters being added are just reskins" thing, thats in alot of games too, hell Injustice 2 has done that with its dlc characters too so I dont see the big issue there. Fact is people are latching onto ANYTHING to complain about since the get go. A $70 where you get quarterly or yearly content drops is a big win idk why people cry about it tbh.

The characters are reskins thing confuses me because with the different traversal mechanics and stuff the characters actually don't feel like they play the same, but I see why people think they do because if I just stood still and fired the gun they each would feel samey. But jumping around swinging jetpacking in the fights feels very different. I played destiny 1&2 for 9 years and over 4000 hours and didn't do much pvp but the game had things that kept me coming back over and over again and I could see this game doing the same if the game is given the chance to grow and add new things but even before that I already have nearly 100 hours in it so I've gotten my 70$ worth and will buy skins once they add ones that I want.
Benny and sal are very right. It was the way that send off was done that leaves a bad taste in mine and others mouths. Also another problem for me that leads back into the first problem is the nick picking of certain changes to characters from others depictions and iterations such as Deadshot being black now because of will smiths protrail. I believe it was unnecessary in my opinion to change it but I'll let it slide, on the other hand why not take Harley's more recent protrail where she's more connected with Bruce and understands how much of a monster joker is like in the Joker war saga and the death of bruce hits a lot harder to harley because bruce technically set her free from the madness of joker and harley has to do the same for bruce from brainiac. Slide that in with how Benny said batman and wonder woman could both be good fighting back until Bruce gets taken and made evil like how flash did. Should have been a way better send off.
The "send off", people harping on this but completely ignore the fact that the game was in development and largely completed before his sudden death. Also, he agreed to the direction for Batman, hell he likely knew the post game fate of Batman and likely recorded lines for future dlc. His passing is very tragic and broke alot of our hearts, but undermining what the studio is trying to accomplish, under the guise of "its disrespectful to Kevin" is insanely shitty as none of us know what went on behind the scenes. He liked it enough to sign on, end of story.
@@Jakehatred666 Bruh I never stated that this was disrespectful to Kevin because I wasn't focused on that. I'm talking about the narrative that was weak and talking for the character of Arkham Batman as a whole. Just because the game was mostly done doesn't make the story good. Just because Kevin said he's down with it, doesn't make it good either. It's unsatisfying for a character that many of us have loved to play as in a world that felt very fleshed out and detailed as much as the Arkham Batman series was to have a send off like that. I understand that it's a live service game and new story content will come out in the future but until we have confirmation on what it will be, we are left to assume just as much as the characters in game that this a send off for him which again is unsatisfying.
I really like this format! I don't keep up with too many new games, but heard the story for this was good, and from Benny's retelling it does sound pretty fun, hope you guys do get to Midnight Suns

I think Kevin Conroy was pushing for Batman to be evil. While he always loved being Batman, he has stated that playing an Evil Batman is a lot more fun, and this was his chance to play a truly evil Batman. And you can hear how much fun he's having doing it in his line reads as you play the game. He's having the time of his life playing this evil version of Batman. Which is also why I don't understand all the talk about how the game was an insult to his legacy, when it was actually his last chance to do what he had always wanted to do, and he loved it.

Because it is. It's not a perfect game It has its problems but if you judge it for what it actually is it's a pretty fun time.
If you enjoy comics and arent strictly sucking off Batman, then this game IS fun. Its got plenty of love for comics lore and it isnt presenting the MCs as insanely overpowered. Its an underdog story through and through.
"Why wouldnt Braniacs corrupted League not just kill the SS right away" because hes incredibly arrogant and throughout the game doesnt see us as a threat. Thats comics 101, the villains always under estimate the heroes (in this case other villains). In fact, Batman is the only one in Brainiacs ear trying to convince him that we need to be dealt with and at every turn hes like "they are of little consequence" its standard stuff.
I noticed the first time the squad went to earth 2 the justice league members on the poster were rebirth wally west and hal jordan green lantern. I may be wrong but it looked like those two on the posters.

When you make your way to the Earth 2 HoJ, the Green Lantern statue (albeit a destroyed one) does show a Green Lantern with a domino mask and combed over hair, definitely Hal Jordan.

Benny makes it sound interesting enough, that I’ll play it in in like 5 years when it gets ported to the switch, the same way I just bought the Arkham Trilogy to play Knight. Except I haven’t gotten to knight yet cuz I’m still replaying Asylum (I got a job and a life man) and then I’m gonna replay city. Should get to Knight by this time next year. Going by that, I may get to suicide squad before I die.

Stories about ordinary individuals overcoming incredible odds have existed for as long as stories themselves. Criticizing the notion that it doesn't make sense is stupid. Judging a character solely based on their inherent power level, without considering how even an ordinary individual could exploit their weaknesses, suggests an inherent bias and insecurities, indicating a reluctance to see beloved characters face adversities. Yet, paradoxically, these are often the same people who complain about characters, especially female characters, being Mary Sues.

Something i want to point out that i find something interesting...
In the beginning of the game Boomerang said "The way i see it if Spaceman offers me a better offer, I'm taking it."
At the end of the game Brainiac is making promises to the team and Boomerang is the only one who didnt get to hear what he would get. When returned to the hall he actually asks to teleport him back to hear what he was gonna get.
It may be looked at as a throwaway line but I've noticed Boomerang has a tendency to always side with who he thinks will win looking out for himself. He has a certain agency that moves the game forward by his crafty ways. Heres a couple of examples..
-He was the 1st to escape out of his cuffs & was the one who suggested robbing the hall.
-When the squad agreed to make their objective LexCorp he was the 1st to call Waller and tell her they need better guns (which before being cut off would've suggested LexCorp since its the best in the city)
- He was the only reason we tracked The Flash.
-He's the reason we get into the hall via flash finger.
- Him giving up WW saved us from GL.
- He brought back the ice cream truck to move Waller.
- He's the only one who took agency when Lex said to go get batman
- He stabs everyone with neck bombs (without them we wouldnt have our upgrades)
- Out of everyone in the group he attacks superman 1st two times whether they were powered up or not.
- When he attacked SM, it bought WW time to stab him and for her to figure out that something is wrong which essentially gives Lex the idea that something is wrong down to the DNA.
I wonder if certain character traits and things set up will play out in later seasons (most likely but i mean the subtle things like Deadshot's with tight spaces.)
During SM vs WW, King Shark says Boomerang always comes back (which is funny cause thats what boomerangs do)
Waller said i need 1 of you and the other 3 are dead (4th wall as we the player if solo would play with bots) Brainiac says theres a margin of error. Lex Luthor is found of his version of Lady Boomerang
In the narrative sense, i could see Boomerang being the one whos needed and the margin of error while Lex is benefitting off him. i double down on that even more so for the fact The Flash (A CB enemy) is the one who kills Lex. If you look at it in a parallel universe Boomerang somehow someway kills Brainiac if...
Lex=Brainiac: The head of the body.
WW/A.Waller: Both are trying to save ppl but going wrong about it.
SS=K.Shark: Both have good ideas but their morals will be their downfall.
Batman>HQ: Learnt to play with others while not compromising who they are
Deadshot=GL: Both by the books but prideful of their work.

@@XBlueXFire depending on the writer their rings improve their reaction time. Also, due to the plot characters like the Flash and Superman never really use their speed correctly in battle games unless they’re fighting characters of similar speed. The Flash just runs around in patterns and for some reason gets hit by people who aren’t kryptonians and other speedsters.
They’re pretty fucking strong, especially if their willpower is strong enough

and B) We had the Suicide Squad and none of the Squad died! Like WTF even the movies got that one right. We should have started with 5 guys and one dies in that into bio scenes. Like they fall of a building or something.
Good review comicstorian! I am definitely on the opposite side of the argument, but I do appreciate the effort to try something new. I wouldn't have as big of a problem with the game if they hadn't done what they did to Arkham Batman. He honestly should have gone down with Superman taking him out. I definitely would have rooted for the Suicide Squad a lot more if they would have teamed up with Arkham Batman, but as it stands it was very anti-climactic especially with how Batman was kill.
I would have found a set up with Batman having to ally himself with criminals far more interesting. It also would have felt like Batman gave the Suicide Squad a foundation to start off with before heading into the endgame.
What if at the end the True Arkhamverse Justice League comes out alive and well. Turns out we were NEVER in the same universe as Asylum, City, and Knight, just an adjacent similar wolds. Solves a lot of problems with the bitter taste of Arkham Justice League being the bad guys and dying. Hopefully Conroy has recorded more dialogue they can use.
At the end of the day, the game was too disrespectful.

(THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE THEY TALKED ABOUT IN THE BEGINNING 1:05 if anyone cares) Just adding some other things about that suicide squad movie (it's called Batman: Assault on Arkham for those who don't know) and its relation in the Arkham verse, is that all the members of the suicide squad are in that movie and a pre Arkham Asylum Batman takes them all one singlehandedly no problem and its a stronger team because they have two other members in killer frost and Black Spider (he's and assassin also Fun fact He's voiced by Giancarlo Esposito). Then later in the movie SPOILER FOR THE MOVIE BY THE WAY king shark die's as in head explode dies, and to top it all off at the end of the movie SPOILERS AGAIN Dead Shot (the white one) Shots Waller in the head or is at least implied to have done next to his daughter.
This was fun 🤩

It’s still a retcon to make this Arkhamverse, King Shark died in “Assault on Arkham”, ‘fake’ Deadshot still had a daughter and such, Waller was big and built like the comics and supposedly Boomer died in some other thing… Also, the whole thing is just lazy trash and doesn’t fit thematically.

Batmans death was mean spirited. Dude just glossed over explaining it, and the fact he doesn't care how it happened says he's not a huge Batman fan. If you are a Batmam fan, undesrtand that how they went through with killing him was so unnecessary. This game wont last a year.

Ive played the game into the endgame and waiting for the next update with Joker, I agree that it would of been better with Batman and WonderWoman still good helping. The game looks and plays well and is like ID4 meets DC with the invasion, it is a pretty bleak setting and everyone trying Deadpool humor. Ultimately people dont want a killer Batman, especially when its one of Kevin Conroy's last projects so that worked against it. They probably could piece together more cutscenes with old dialogue from the other games perhaps, but yeah just kinda sad to see the greatness of those 4 Arkham games turned into something bleak and mean in this. Samoa Joe's King Shark is great though, kinda like Drax of not knowing subtly but being a kinda noble bad guy and I really hope Mcfarlene makes a figure or this version.

Arkham Knight showed that itself. Once you 100% the game there is a cutscene showing that batman is using fear gas to be the demon bat.
Thats explained at the end of Arkham Knight already. It build off that. Tldr; he was a spooky "demon" batman until he was approached by the League and asked to join and go public which he agrees to.

All of the complaints before anyone played the game completely turned me off from fandom. Like no ones ever heard of a twist before. Stunted fans are the absolute worst
