This should’ve been backwards compatible.
Dyson artificially made it incompatible with the standard V12, V15, and Gen5 so that they could sell the V12s and V15s.
Edit: The V12s and V15s have additional communication to disable the suction. However, imo, Dyson could engineer the mop head to permit diverting suction holes so that the suction motor doesn't think there's a clog.

You could use a low-foam detergent - if you decide to do this, please follow the manufacturer’s guidance on the recommended dosage.

Is this different from V12 absolute? Looks same except that water mop attachment. And can i buy that attachment separately for my v12 absolute?
The key difference is that the Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine™ vacuum is manufactured with updated software to enable the wet cleaning function. The Submarine wet roller head is only included with this machine, and not available as an accessory for other models. It won't work with previously purchased Dyson cordless vacuums which don't include the software update. Hope this answers your question!

Both the v12s and the v15s come with this new head. They’re not compatible with non-s models and AFAIK also not with each other.

Is the mop safe on hardwood floors?

With the Dyson V12s and V15s Submarine™ vacuums, software detects that the Dyson Submarine™ wet roller head has been attached and automatically puts the machine into wet cleaning mode. This deactivates the suction motor to ensure there's no ingress of water into the machine. Earlier versions of V12 and V15 don't include this newer software, which means that the wet roller head won't work with any other Dyson vacuums. Sorry for any disappointment this causes - it's not always possible for us to make sure that every new accessory or cleaner head we launch will be backwards compatible with existing machines.

So the submarine attachment simply spreads water around on a dirty roller.
The internal extraction plate continuously removes debris and dirty water from the wet roller with each rotation, so it's not transferred back onto your floor. It's collected in a quick-release waste tray, for easy emptying.

How very nice to see that Dyson is now " officially" promoting this product. I have bought a V12 detect + and I would like to buy the " submarine" ( In China it is called NAUTIK) head to wash the floor BUT this is NOT yet available in Europe and the Staes, AFAIK this only exists (has been since 2022) in Asia and is called Nautik in Chian and Submarine in Taiwan (and probably elsewhere). WHEN are we likely to see this for sale in EUROPE??

You cannot use the head with your v12/v15, it only works with the v12s/v15s because apparently the entire aftermarket is able to build compatible wet heads but Dyson themselves aren’t.

No, and not for v12 and v15 either.
Can I put floor cleaner instead of just water in the tank?
You could. If you decide to use detergent, please follow the manufacturer’s guidance on the recommended dosage. We recommend washing the wet roller with a common household anti-bacterial detergent, diluted according to the manufacturer's recommended ratio, after each clean to maintain hygiene.
Where is the dirty water tank? is it on the submarine cleaner head or is the dirty water being sucked up into the cyclone canister?
The Dyson Submarine™ wet roller head is engineered to make sure there can be no water ingress into the main body of the machine. Instead, both the clean and dirty water tanks are contained within the cleaner head itself. You can see exactly where both tanks are located in the following maintenance guide: ms.spr.ly/6055go5W9 Just to confirm, the main body of the machine should not be used to vacuum up water or liquid spills - it hasn't been designed for this purpose, and doing so could cause damage not covered under the Dyson guarantee. The wet roller is motorised and as it spins it removes wet and dry dirt and debris from the floor. The extraction plate then removes debris and dirty water from the wet roller and collects it in a separate quick-release waste tray, for easy emptying. This ensures you're always working with clean water - not dirty water.

There is a clean water tank and a dirty water tank. You fill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank when the clean water tank is empty. The water never moves up to the bin.

We recommend cleaning the wet roller after every use, using a common household anti-bacterial detergent. The wet roller must also be dried completely before reassembly, to help minimise unpleasant/damp odours.

After washing, you will need to leave the wet roller to air dry. When storing the wet roller head in between cleans, we advise that you use the wet roller head drip tray.
