Mary is the Mother of All Grace. It is through Mary that Grace entered into the World. If she would have said NO to the angel then she would not have been pregnant with Infinite Grace (Jesus Christ), thus no one could be Saved. In this way she directly played a redemptive role (Co-Redemptrix) in our Salvation which is why it says in Genesis 3:15 the Woman's Seed, steps on Satan's Head. She was and still is a conduit for Gods Grace and Truth, whom is a Person, born through her womb, Jesus Christ.

If you are a "beloved disciple", you stand at the feet of the Cross, and you accept Mary as your Mother, and take Her to live with you, in your home. That's why the devotion to the Immaculate Heart is so important. You will NEVER be closer to Jesus. When you pray the Rosary, each decade is offered TO JESUS, and we meditate, WITH MARY, on a Sacred Mystery. Google search "Sorrowful Mysteries" (we recite those on Fridays) and say a Rosary TODAY, to remember Jesus' Passion. You won't be dissapointed

When you believe a being like Mary has the ability to deliver your soul from hell, can mediate between you and God, is the gate of heaven and earth, can dispense God's graces to whomsoever she pleases, you are attributing to her the power that belongs to God alone. That is not veneration by any stretch but an idolatrous worship of another god, which God himself expressly prohibits under pain of death.

The intercession of fellow Christians-which is what the saints in heaven are-also clearly does not interfere with Christ’s unique mediatorship because in the four verses immediately preceding 1 Timothy 2:5, Paul says that Christians should interceed: "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way.

We mention Jesus, we mention God... then we ask Her to PRAY FOR US, and finally acknowledge the fact we are SINNERS. Can you find ANYTHING wrong with this ? Absolutely not. Plus, each decade is associated with a Sacred Mystery about Christ

That's what many catholics would say: that they felt closer to Jesus by praying the rosary. But you know what, the scribes and pharisees had a similar experience. They felt they were closer to God by following their traditions. But what did Jesus say to them? "'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."

We'll, since the Catholic Church traces it's roots back to the first century, I believe it is rationnal to say SHE is the Mother Church.
Saint Ignatius was the FIRST CENTURY bishop of Antioch. He was appointed by John the Apostles himself. What did he say:
Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, THERE IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

I'm not attributing my Salvation to anything other than Jesus Christ the God-Man and his Body, which is the Church. His Mother (whom Birthed his Body, making her the Mother of the Church, that is, Christ Body) is a Holy Intercessor that prays for us to her dearly beloved Son and shows us the Fruit of her Womb, Jesus Christ. She helps us to have a personal relationship with Christ, our Salvation. Just as the Presbyters help us along with the rest of Christ Body, especially the Saints.

"ONLY God has the power to hear"... If being in heaven were like being in the next room, then of course these objections would be valid. A mortal, unglorified person in the next room would indeed suffer the restrictions imposed by the way space and time work in our universe. But the saints are not in the next room, and they are not subject to the time/space limitations of this life.

Basing itself on the mystery of the incarnate Word, the seventh ecumenical council at Nicaea (787) justified against the iconoclasts the veneration of icons - of Christ, but also of the Mother of God, the angels, and all the saints. By becoming incarnate, the Son of God introduced a new "economy" of images.

That the purpose of the Church: to be One, Holy, Apostolic and Catholic. Who, IF NOT THE CHURCH, would know the Sacred Apostollic Tradition? That is why we have bishops, and their lineage can be traced down directly to the Apostles. "Satan is able" And that's why I trust Jesus when he said the "gates of Hell shall not prevail against it". The AUTHORITY is in Peter's hands, because he recieved the Keys (Mt 16.18-19)

The closer we are to Mary, the closer we are to God. Mary can be compared to the Moon, which doesn't possess light by itself, but from the Sun. Mary's glory is merely the reflection of Her Son's own glory. Without Jesus, Mary is nothing. A couple of years ago, I was like you, and didn't understand all this hype about Mary. As a Catholic, I accepted it, without enthousiasm, thinking there is probably something I don't get. One day, I started praying the Rosary, and I never felt closer to Jesus.

FYI: when you pray for another human being, you are praying for the living and not for the dead. That's what Christ wants us all to do -- to pray for one another. But we do not pray for those who have died because as dead beings, they cannot hear and they cannot intercede for you anymore. The very purpose of prayer is defeated if you involve the dead in it. Repentance is not possible for the dead.

@remonramos I just did. Paul in 1 Cor. 15:23 teaches that we will all be resurrected at Christ's coming. But Scripture also reveals to us that a few individuals are already in heaven. You mentioned Moses and Elijah. My point is, while we await our resurrection at the second coming of Christ to be with the Lord forever, these few individuals have already been raised in advance of that time making them exceptions to this statement of Paul.

Speaking in tongues was given by the Holy Spirit to the apostles and others in the early church. That is in the Bible. Forgivess of sins is also commanded by Jesus in the Bible. Binding and loosing of sinners is also taught in the Bible. Interceding for living brothers and sisters is also commanded in the Bible. But RCC's doctrines about Mary and the saints are not only in the Bible, they are AGAINST the teachings in the Bible. That's the big difference.

In any event, it is clear from Revelation 5:8 that the saints in heaven do actively intercede for us. We are explicitly told by John that the incense they offer to God are the prayers of the saints. Prayers are not physical things and cannot be physically offered to God. Thus the saints in heaven are offering our prayers to God mentally. In other words, they are interceding.

There is a big difference between David and the Ark.
Mary is the New Ark, therefore she can't possibly be compared to David.

@remonramos too many comments removed. This is a good sign brother. Your faith is obviously shaken by the sharp words from Scripture and you are not sure of your arguments anymore. I pray that the Holy Spirit will touch you and fill you with the right understanding of God's word.

@remonramos Mary's contribution to the plan of God was important but nowhere near the contribution made by Paul, Peter, John and the other apostles who suffered terrible persecution in the hands of the Jewish and Roman authorities. While Mary died a natural death, the apostles died of hanging and torture. The test to their faith was severe and the pain was almost unbearable. Mary on the other hand lived comfortably, had a husband and other children.

@remonramos Is the CCC above Scripture, promoting the making of carved images in utter defiance of God's second commandment?

I never said I didn't believe in the Bible... I was merely destroying a false argument with pure logic.
In order for HIS arguments to stand, he would need to answer to my questions.
    But he can't.
Therefore, his arguments are self-refuted, i.e. fallacious.

The Christian veneration of images is not contrary to the first commandment which proscribes idols. Indeed, "the honor rendered to an image passes to its prototype," and "whoever venerates an image venerates the person portrayed in it." (St. Basil, De Spiritu Sancto 18, 45: PG 32, 149C; Council of Nicaea II: DS 601; cf. Council of Trent: DS 1821-1825; Vatican Council II: SC 126; LG 67.)
