#Vinesauce #Vinny #Castlevania
My dad never really played video games, didn't care about them. But I'd just gotten this game for my birthday or Christmas or something, and for some reason he was curious to check it out. So I remember him sitting on the couch behind me playing my GBA for maybe 10-20 minutes. I'd never played Castlevania before, and he figured out "hey you can hit the candles and get stuff". Just a random memory I have associated with this game.
Both my parents have a disdain for video games, they think they're brainless timewasters. My father's a little more chill about it, but he dislikes how brutal some games are.
@@sneezebiscuits7239 my parents and my deceased grandma a bit "weird". They don't play videogames, but really liked watching me play violent ones. Grandma even called FPS as "the shoot-shoot game"
It's a bit awkward when grandma yells "fxck yeah, kill that fxcker" when you decapitate demons in Doom Eternal though
@@First-Name_Last-Name That is utterly bizarre. I think that would bother me more than simple dislike, at least my parents leave me alone (i'm an adult anyway, not much they could do)
@@sneezebiscuits7239 grandma's a real hardcore badass.
She once whipped me with unlubricated, heavy duty, motorcycle chain when I was a teenager ( I was caught for smuggling drugs by the cops). Still have the scars on my back.
And with that same "motorcycle chain whip" she has sent a burglar armed with a gun, into the the grave by snapping the burglar's neck with it.
That's a real Belmont if I ever saw one.May her soul rest in peace with the other vampire hunters.
@@sneezebiscuits7239 I was lucky. My dad had a PS1, Game Gear, and GBC. So I played Castlevania SOTN, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Pokémon and Sonic. My earliest memories are of me and my dad playing these games.
Ah, the electric skeleton. I'm more of an acoustic skeleton guy, myself.
A spookstic
I tend to go with the steel skeleton
@@CarterG4Y I like the bass skeleton, what kinda pedals do you use with your skeleton?
The Fender Skellycaster.
The spookiest of the Strats.
I want to get off Mr. Bones’ Wild Riff
For the real experience, be sure to dim your screen to 25%
Better yet just put on blindfolds
At least Circle of the Moon was really bright and had an even brighter mode to try to compensate the GBA screen
25% that's still quite visible.
I always have my phone on 25%
I never have it brighter than 10%
About the HOD music: the developers left very little room for the composer due to the complex bosses and they say they are animated iirc. Offense and Defense is still the best song despite the instrumentation. HOD ost is actually really good if re instrumented
Wish someone could hack it and replace the soundfont to HQ.
HOD's music is very underrated. It's the Trout Mask Replica of Castlevania soundtracks. It works perfectly with the theme of the title as well.
@@alexh2790 can trout mask replica be underrated? Is that possible?
@@ronindebeatrice No, but it's appeal is limited due to it's avant garde nature which was the point I was getting at with HOD's soundtrack. Even if the sound quality was better you're still left with compositions that are full of dissonant tension.
I’d say though the music was the worst out of the gba games it was still not all that bad. It grows on you a bit
time to feed Vinny's card obsession...in a game
Castlevania. Vinny. Cards.
Sees video title: (Part 1)
Yup. Gotta catch em all.
33:41 Cerberus is actually holy element. Yes, it's very strange for the first boss to be such a rare element.
1:49:01 That was a 3.74% chance with current luck.
2:05:24 3.15% chance with even less attempts.
2:07:31 That heart was the card drop yet again.
Vinnys passive In effect again
I remember playing this game and NEVER getting rare drops. And he gets two just like that. Yep it's Vinny.
Local Man of God Faces Extreme Luck
I feel like the remaster increased some drop rates. I remember fighting the Bloody Sword who is normally a pain to drop their Mars Card (the coolest one in the game...) and the first one I fought dropped it.
I'm okay with this, if that is the case.
"I have a nice computer, I have video game, and I am content." - Conan the Cimmerian
I agree with Conan
One of my favorite things about this game is the DSS bug where if you have any pair of Action and Attribute cards you could use any combination you want even if you don't have the cards, and one of them turns you into a skeleton that can throw a huge, really powerful bone that oneshots the first few bosses
The best thing about this collection is that because the games are essentially 100% intact as you remember them, the DSS bug is still intact.
@@UltimaKeyMaster Meaning they just dumped roms into an emulator.
I used that to get through the underground waterway and beat Carmilla, skipping 2 levels
@@diegomedina9637 I'm honestly okay with it, the collection is only $20 which while you can still literally get it for free online at least now you can play it on switch without Nintendo bricking your console for home brewing or something
@@diegomedina9637 for 20$ that's perfectly ok imo. At least you get a little extra stuff, which is already loads better than Nintendo's own rom collections lol
harmony of dissonance's music isn't bad and successor of fate is one of the best tracks to come out of the entire series period
I legitimately think Harmony of Dissonance has the best music of the GBA trilogy, but I've always been a fan of weird time signatures in music.
I think Dissonance's music just got unfairly shit on at the time since it was GB-style chiptunes at a time when everything else was more modern, especially since it was after Circle of the Moon.
Harmony of Dissonance and Final Fantasy X are two games that Vinny has lukewarm feelings toward, and I sincerely hope he gives them both another shot some day
Konami Rep: Hey, you like Blasphemous? Here is a key for Castlevania.
Vinny (who has streamed 8+ Castlevania games, talked about the anime on numerous streams, and already purchased the game): Thanks....
Honestly I personally prefer your slower/reduced schedule because it is MUCH easier for me to keep up with, but that's my personal preference for my personal situation of course.
Agreed. Vinny can ofc do whatever he wants, nut i much prefer this.
I have to thank Vinny for that real talk from 1:45:02 to 1:59:25, really, few things are more valuable than true feelings and certainly there is something great here.
Personally I think the biggest curse of humankind is to never being able to accomplish what we want, there will be always something missing, but at the same time is that feeling of emptiness what keeps us going, and the best we can do is to find something that makes us happy, it doesn't even have to be what the world tell us is ideal, are we supposed to find happiness in the same stuff? things like skydiving, money and love? I say happiness can be found in everything we put our heart on, whether it's a family, a profession, a hobby, even something considered trivial such as videogames, it can be literally anything, as long as it keeps us moving forward is something worth living for, and just don't let other decide what makes you happy...
Anyway, sorry for the long comment, hot take: I like the music from Harmony of Dissonance and I prefer Aria of Sorrow over Symphony of the Night, that's all I have to say.
Hotter take: Order of Ecclesia > Aria of Sorrow > Symphony of the Night, fight me, i live the waifu-vania
@@terdragontra8900 I won't fight you, you have a point, that's the same reason why I like Bloodstained
Being true to yourself is why I've been a Vinesauce watcher for 8 years, dude. I appreciate your honesty and your passion for the arts, and not just your endearing, admirable knowledge around rock music.
And imo, I feel your biggest shtick is your self-honesty, compassion, and modesty as you have attracted a lot of people this way. You have shown us just how swell of a person you are, so much that a non-alcoholic drinker like I would have a beer with you.
What an astute, sincere observation and I agree 100%.
For some reason, I prefer this game`s rendition of "The Sinking Old Sanctuary" better than the original one on the Genesis. And I had played Bloodlines before this title, so it managed to shatter the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia just like that.
Everything in Bloodlines kicks ass music-wise!
Circle of the Moon has one of the best renditions of the series
Fun fact CotM was noncannon then Iga changed his mind shortly after OoE came out. Also same team that made 64 and Legacy of Darkness
Some dude made an ultimate timeline vid where he pieced every single Vania game into a timeliness. Cotm and all.
Another fun fact: Iga had no involvement with CotM and chat couldn't tell vinny that when he mentioned it :(
But anyway according to wikipedia Iga didn't retcon this game cause he didn't work on it, but cause the original devs wanted it to be more of a standalone thing
"This is the one I like the least and it's still good."
This is why Konami is able to do Pachinko machines all the time but also why everyone else prefers actual video games and why my bones rattle with excitement when Konami sends out a new compilation
But when Vinny streams Castlevania games...that's when my skeleton REALLY particle beams the Runesword right out of him. Thanks for the stream, Vinny, thanks for the upload, John, thanks for the whipping, Konami, thanks for the pizza, Domino
Ah man, Circle of the Moon was my first Castlevania. I've got a big soft spot for it.
while not my favorite or my first, i have soft spot for Harmony of Dissonance. i think people rag in its soundtrack too much
I’ve played Circle of the Moon for the first time recently, and I thought it was a good Castlevania game. I’m so glad Vinny’s revisiting it.
Same here. I also own Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow, but CoTM is the only one I've beat 'cause it's way harder to get lost
Same here! I played it on an emulator though, but I still love it
it's the only mazelike castlevania I've played and it's still one of my favorite gba games
I was just thinking "I could go for some Vinny right now" and then he just dropped a castlevania video, what a great day
I actually liked harmony of dissonance the most out of all gba castlevanias, and it was the last one I played. I played it right after the ds castlevanias and symphony.
But to each their own. I can't wait to play it again.
Edit: Man I was into instruction booklets aswell, I was so happy when demon's souls and dark souls 1-2 came with one. Which is a bit topical, because dark souls is basically 3D castlevania after all.
Vinny saying "If you're still here and you're brave" while he was farming for that card. I watched all of his castlevania playthrough, I knew there would be farming sessions because it's Castlevania and Vinny can't help it and I watched all of them. I'm not brave, I'm insane.
Vinny's talk about not having a day job and feeling the need to do something like streaming to feel good is so damn inspirational.
You should have been there in the early days of Vinesauce. He wasnt kidding. He sounded alot more miserable back then. I think thats where the myth happened that he never smiles.
@@KitsuneDzelda Would 2014 or so be considered early days? I've been watching Vin for a while. I guess I don't really remember him being like that.
As a big fan of Actraiser on the SNES, Actraiser Renaissance is actually awesome. What some refer to as “padding” I’d call “more story.” It’s not anything mind blowing but the characterization is entertaining and adds more flavor to the original’s lack of story. Worth it for a fan I’d say.
30.00 is too damn steep
Castlekino is back on the menu boys.
Right before spacekino
man just because this game has cards, really sent Vinny off on the topic of money and happiness
There IS a holy claymore in the game, you just gotta get your hands on it. I think the Red Sword drops a card that enables it?
The Mars card plus the Unicorn card
I totally feel Vinny on the Italian Heritage thing. I too am Italian and I have relatives that can be overwhelmingly Italian. It’s true they come in talking all for lack there of a better term “Jersey-Shore” like. Absolutely so involved with shoving the culture in everyones face. I feel almost like a black sheep in my family where I don’t indulge in it. I am proud of my heritage and I will be the first to say I love the food and some culture but I don’t make it my whole personality. If you’re reading this Vinny or any other descendant of the Pizza Pasta Boppity Boopy people, I know how you feel! 😌 Also pretty stoked for Many Saints of Newark, can’t lie haha
Fun trick with circle of the moon. if you have two legitimate DSS cards selected, as soon as you press the button to activate the ability, pause to the menu. go into the dss system and then choose two completely different card (even if you don't have them unlocked any highlighted position is fine) then exit. you will automatically have activated that combo regardless of whether you actually have the card!
That entire conversation towards rhe end is what makes you feel like just any other person Vinny. Thats why its nice to just listen or watch or doze off to. Do take care of yourself.
58:30 As someone ruthlessly exposed to the self-congratulatory alphabet soup shenanigans on a regular basis, this bit resonates with me
"Combining two game name to name a genre is lazy."
_Laugh in Rogue-like_
But to call it Search Action is so... Weird. Metroidvania rolls Off the tongue
Huge fan of search action
the electric skeleton has to be very grounded to use its powers :P
theres something about metroidvania vods from vinny that brings me a lot of comfort. not only is it one of my favorite genres, but it always brings up very deep conversations that remind me why ive been a fan for so many years. vinny might not have that explosive characteristic that hooks people up when they first meet his streams, but the dude has genuinely a lot of wisdom and good points to make, and thats not even from some special reason,he is just like that naturally.
thats why i dont mind if the content from this channel or the livestreams lose a bit of frequency, because at this point ive been so used to enjoying his welcoming crazy banters that i just naturally think "man,i wonder if vinny would like this" or "i wonder how vinny will react to this topic".
TLDR: i love vinny and all his content.
Same
Here's a fun fact: DSS cards only cost mana when they activate in a way that reveals what they do(except the healing ones). So if you aren't sure what a spell does, just leave it on until you lose mana.
EDIT: Ok, I should clarify. They only cost mana when they do something, but "passive effect", counts as doing something. So if you're losing mana but nothing is happening, then they're doing something passive, and it won't tell you what that is until you use the passive stat change in some way. The advance collection has a glossary where you can look up all the card combos too, though. So just do that if you're stumped.
not quite, the spell needs to "activate", so Venus+Mandragora will still drain MP but won't tell you what it does until you trigger a random drop
They mustve patched it because I tried said trick and nothing happemed
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 read my comment
Come for Circle of the Moon, stay for the Halloween III appreciation
Fun glitch, if you change cards mid-activation you can set any cards you want even if you don't have them. You can also use summons that way if you don't have enough mana, it'll put you at a negative value and take a while to recover.
yeh this game is extremely abusable, so my guess is that they didn't bother to fix that
This game does have some variety of weapons vinny, there is a card that transforms the whip into swords, a giant hammer, even hitting with the fists.
Dont forget GUN
@@TheKnizzine ah yes, the neutral special
@@TheKnizzine Except you need to do the optional super difficult colosseum zone to have it.
@@ellocojoncrazy3270 or just do the super easy glitch that lets you use any card combination
The giant hammer is unwieldy AF, The tonfa and claws are slow to hit, the swords are ok and the charge slash is only good for ground enemies. You're SOL if there are flying ones. The weapons are nowhere near as good as SOTN, Aria, etc
Can't say I've ever heard anyone go existential over a shiny Charizard before, haha.
Ooooh man, very hyped to see Vinny streaming my favorite franchise of all time.
1:21:07 Actually, I'm pretty sure either Gunpei Yokoi or Sakamoto, one of the two, coined the term search action. It's also just what the genre is referred to as in Japanese gaming spaces.
aria of sorrow and dawn of sorrow are my favourite castlevania games
I beat Harmony of Dissonance fairly recently because I didn't remember it well and never once noticed there was anything weird about the run animation, then again some of the earlier Belmonts walked a bit like they needed to find a bathroom.
The music composition in Harmony sounds fine, but the soumd isn't great because it's the first GBA Castlevania handled by the main team. A different team (the team tbat worked on the N64 Castlevania titles) developed CotM, so the main team didn't have as good a handle of the GBA's capabilities yet.
You mean they didn't have a very good handle on making games as a whole lol
@@tiztu6321 I mean
This is the team that made SotN
@@GenericSoda Oh, I misunderstood, thought you were saying this one had bad audio. Although it doesn't really make sense, it's not like the CotM team were more experienced at working with the GBA when they started it
Cymphony of the Might
My personal dislike with HOD was the ugly sprites and the "size scaling" (dunno the exact term, but wish the display layout like CotM or AoS, smaller sized characters, bigger view on the levels). Gameplay is ok though,I liked how the front-back dash is vital to fight enemies.
I'll never understand why the walk AND run cycles only have 3 frames while everything else looks fluid enough
funny thing is the boss music used in this game is either a compressed or remade version of the boss music from the n64 castlevania.
Hearing Vinny's sincere passion and love for NYC warms my heart.
1:21:31 I do agree that the term "Metroidvania" is extremely lazy, not that anyone thought about it. It just stuck and because of how long it's been and how easy it is to remember and say, even if we make "search-action" or whatever else more common, Metroidvania as a term will always exist in a large capacity. Which I guess would be why some wanted to try so hard as to not let "Souls-like" or "soulsborne" become a thing, because the longer it's used the harder it will be to get rid of it. I do understand the clear negatives to having genres straight up just named after a game or series, but like I said, these simple terms exist simply because of how easy they are to remember and say, even compared to "search-action", which works pretty well on it's own. There's also "rouge-like/lite", which is far enough gone that most people who use the term don't even know what it is, but that's probably a good thing as it removes the negative associated with other terms. Though I do wonder what a replacement for Rouge-like would be.
I'm just spewing out a stream of consciousness, don't mind me. I'm not really even sure if there's a point to this. I just wanted to ramble pointlessly about something that I'm mildly interested in.
Humans labelling/categorizing stuff has always been confusing.
1:53:00
for what it's worth, when I first started watching your streams I wasn't sure what to make of them, but it' wasn't the funny noises that made me stick around. It was because you seemed like a decent guy and because you actually cared about the quality of the stream you put on, not to mention, you quite often give some amazing laughs. I'm glad you're taking this time for your self, even if I do miss your streams, I want you to be happy and healthy too.
I think it's the absence of superficiality, unlike most youtubers/streamers. Also no annoying twitch alerts and endless shoutout to donators.
Honestly, I feel like konami will do a DS collection, for of course the ds games. and Prob a 3d Collection for the n64 and ps2 games
Circle of the Moon completely kicked my ass when I first played it, the lack of a shop and the sparsity of healing items... combined with the lack of a full heal after boss battles, oof.
Its definitely a classic-vania plus Iga-vania
In a way it’s kind of interesting. Having to rely on random drops to get stuff. Like an old school dungeon crawl.
This got oddly existential, especially towards the end
yeah, wasnt expecting that. like DEEP existential. i get like that sometimes.
@@ArcRay20 naw you don't get like that at all. if you truly understood existance you'd realize it doesn't matter what form it takes. the only important thing is that you are HERE
I've missed existential Vinny. I'm glad he's made a return.
@@eyevou it's like the circle of the moon. It begins where it ends.
IDFK what I'm talking about. I just wanna sound smart and like a twat.
@@First-Name_Last-Name That's pretty deep buddy.
Let me explain: The cycles of the moon go from completely dark to full brightness. Existential Vinny is the dark side.
God dang, he's been playing a lot of Metroidvania's lately. Hopefully he doesn't get burned out by the time Metroid Dread comes out.
its coming soooo sooon i cannot wait
1:20:40
@@Harpotos thanks
Honestly though, I think Harmony of Dissonance still has great music despite the obvious quality issues. Successor of Fate is an amazing theme as well as many others. I don't remember the music bothering me at all even though I played Harmony after Aria of Sorrow. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Honestly, if you like chiptune-style music, Harmony's music is palpable, even enjoyable. The remix of Vampire Killer in there, which plays when using an unlockable character in the boss rush, is a favorite of mine.
I think it's considered bad because people can and do expect more out of the GBA hardware than just chiptune music.
HoD also has the best rendition of Vampire Killer imo, they went all out on that song and it really shows. Plus like, the music is exactly as the title says "Harmony of DISSONANCE", it's suppose to be an uneasy OST with clashing sounds, and tbh it worked out well despite the sound quality not being the greatest.
holy shit the shiny charizard talk is too real
The Dracula fight in Circle of the Moon is complete BS. That aside, CotM is still a great game.
Just lightning ball the bitch, it shreds everything in that game
THUNDERBIRD URANUS
i remember as a kid the only way i could beat it was using that glitch whereyou could spam the screen lightning attack infinitely
At least his song and design are awesome.
Very true
It was weird to hear Vinny talk about people falling asleep to the stream as I woke up from sleeping to the video
I hope Vinny plays the new Outer Wilds DLC Echoes of the Eye, especially with how much he loved the original game, plus no chat to spoil the game for him!
Oh shit theres dlc? Brb gotta play that before im spoiled
@@ApeBlin It's a big load of nothing.
@@ApeBlin Yeah, I binged the entire DLC in 10 hours yesterday, it was very good albeit the "spooky" sections weren't very enjoyable for me.
I have the feeling this will be one of my favorits
Man. CotM was my first Castlevania and the first game I got for the GBA a few years after it's launch. It's great to hear someone else play it and feed that nostalgia bug.
@4:13 Gotta respectfully disagree with Vinny here; Harmony of Dissonance actually has some great music. It's the *soundfont* that sucks. Successor of Fate, Offense and Defense, and Chapel of Dissonance are among my favourite tracks of the entire franchise, even if they do sound kinda butt in-game.
@33:07 Actually, Igarashi did not work on Circle of the Moon; the same team behind Castlevania 64 did. In fact, Iga infamously expunged this game from the official canon, which in all fairness, is completely understandable, since there's not a single mention of the Belmont Clan, the Vampire Killer or any other connective tissue to another game in the series.
Agreed.
I have a very vivid memory of buying this game used from a hobby shop, being so excited about trying it. But, while playing it in the car I could not see the game well, and found the animations to be too clunky. I asked my parents if we could return it as I found it unplayable. Years later I played Aria of Sorrow on my DS lite with the backlit screen and fell in love, always wished I had given this a second chance, or maybe gotten myself a glowlight for my GBA haha.
The Advance Collection is a perfect excuse to give it another chance
Harmony of Dissonance's world exploration can rival even Symphony of the Night's one, and I'm not kidding or exaggerating. I also remember it being kinda weird from back in the days, but when I recently replayed it, I finally learned that it's very good. Oh, and the music grows on you pretty quick, too
Are you castly enough for the castle club?
I've read two different explanations regarding why HOD's music only uses the basic Gameboy sound hardware for music. One was to free up processor power for the game's visuals, which makes sense because aria (while having better art direction) seems to use hardware effects more sparringly. The other thing I read long ago was that the composer wasn't aware of the additional hardware. I'm leaning towards the first explanation more because Aria does seem to be a happy medium between the audio fidelity of Circle and the Graphics of Harmony. Also, Harmony does use the additional sound capabilities but only during the title screen and end credits where graphics are at a minimum.
Harmony of Dissonance’s music is fine, it sounds way better when not through GBA though.
I believe on the Advance Collection there is a setting to change how the music sounds.
(I changed it because the default setting was giving me an actual headache when I was playing HoD and I think it made it better.)
WAIT WAIT WAIT circle of the moon is placed in Austria? I am Austrian and i feel honored that it got recognition in a castlevania game.
Oh hell yeah! Loved this game as a child! Never managed to defeat dracula though lol
is it just me, or is vinny's mic audio kinda worse atm?
I think Harmony Of Dissonance has excellent melodies, even if the instrumentation makes it sound like an NES (which just isn't a bad thing to me).
Just beat Circle of the moon for the first time since I played the GBA version years ago. It holds up better than I remember it. Grinding for the cards is way easier now
I hope we will get some nice Nova Skeleton jokes
Honestly refreshing to know that there's someone out there besides me who prefers Dawn to Aria.
i hope boot plays Silent Hill 3 this spooptober, if he enjoyed SH1 i think he's gonna have a good time with SH3
Thanks for the content, Vin. Stuff is great as always.
Thanks for speaking from the heart brother and helping us look for our chiny charzrds. I'm glad that you are setting boundaries and worrying about your needs, it can help some of us to think more about taking care of our own mental health hearing you talk about it.
super excited to see Vinny play the advance collection!! when I first heard it’s announcement I was hoping Vinny would play it!
Oh, shit. Circle of the Moon is a classic.
CotM close to being my favorite of the GBA titles purely because of how awesome the OST is. Aria is just too good of a game
This is actually like my favorite Castlevania game so seeing Vinny play it and go back to it definitely just makes me smile
I hope Konami are able and willing to put the three DS games into a similar collection somehow. Peak Iga.
Yup. I remember fondly playing this at GBA launch. I had saved up money for it. Sadly almost unplayable without a light. IMO the original GBA had a fantastic shape and playing comfort, but it lacked backlighting and should've had a four button setup like the SNES. It limited the control scheme for some games.
Thank you for the video Vinny, and also for that talk too in the end. Made me appreciate what I have in life.
I hope Vinny plays Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp when it comes out. Better advertisement than what Nintendo will do and hopefully it plays as good as the originals did
Completely off topic my apologies
I could hear that little hitch in your voice when you plummetted down the Machine Tower.
I've played Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia but not Dawn of Sorrow. So I hope there'll be a DS-Vania collection. Ive played a bit of SotN but didn't get too far, I've beaten Aria of Sorrow and it was damn good. I've never played Bloodlines or Rondo of Blood. I played SCV 4 but have not beaten it
I watched Dracula for the first time because of Vinny, and I see now how it influenced Castlevania.
1:24 They finally listened to the fans.
55:16 according to Wikipedia it's Saint Januarius, who is the patron saint of Naples.
I bought CotM and Namco Museum when I got my GBA at launch. I remember this game being very hard to see at the time. Much better playing it on the Switch…
I've never been a man of great ambition. I pay my way and take care of bills and make enough to support what I enjoy but I've never wanted more than that. I completely understand when you say working 40 hours a week makes you miserable, Vin. I felt that. I don't know why people would froth at the mouth for hearing that you don't work a day job. I'm happy you escaped that.
first Castlevania I ever played. bought it together with the Advance. I kinda prefer the magic system in this game, and this is obviously strongly tied to nostalgia, but it's still my favorite Castlevania.
Just picked up a copy of this off the Nintendo store and i remember how hard circle of the moon was its freaking brural ps dracula in circle of the moon looks like viggo mortesen to me
Oh man I was at the San Gennaro feast the same day as Binyot! I wish I ran into him. My aunt even usually runs the Cannoli King stand! Don't sleep on the Sausage there. A lot of stands are owned and operated by local delis and restaurants so it's legit home made sausage.
So to give context about Harmony's OST, the composer's intention was to kinda have one last hurrah for chiptune OSTs, opting to give Harmony that vibe vs. the other castlevanias' OSTs on GBA.
It's got a charm to it tbh! I guess I also say that 'cause I play it a lot, but you should definitely give the arranged orchestrated tracks a try sometime. It may give a hint to what it would've sounded like if it had the more snes-esqe sound design of the other GBA games.
Just so y'all know it's also on PC just so everyone knows and I personally recommend it to everyone who played it as a kid or are just interested as they are 2 great games and 2 pretty good games
UnMetal is out and I hope Vinny returns to it.
I heard that Igarashi actually made up the term "search-action" to describe the kind of game that symphony is when it was under development. Pretty cool that a game creation software calls it this.
CBT of the Moon
Aria of Sorrow > Harmony of Dissonance > Circle of the Moon.
You ever play any of the Suikoden games, Vinny? In addition to the obvious like Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill, Konami really needs to bring back Suikoden!!
Suikoden 2 is a bonafide classic! And while most of them are available on PSN for PS3, Suikoden 5 is not available at all, and it's a really great game.
They're doing a Bloodstained maneuver, no? Eiyuden Chronicles
@@laziestoldman Yes, Eiyuden Chronicles is a spiritual successor to Suikoden by some of the original devs (which looks awesome), but one of the great things about the Suikoden series is that it all took place in the same world with shared history and ever-expanding lore. Although I'm not holding my breath for a new entry in the series, having the existing games available on modern consoles would be nice (remasters would be even better).
